Greetings friends and colleagues!

I am thrilled to introduce you all to my new endeavor - Lumina Esther. As many of you know, I created a group named Association of medical Laboratory Technician Certificate Holder of Nigeria (AMLTCHON) where the dream is to enlighten then public about living a healthy lifestyle by providing adequate information about Health wellness and disease management as well as Educating Medical Laboratory Technician with the necessary information related to the profession

But I have chosen the name "Lumina Esther" to represent this mission. It combines "lumina" meaning light or illuminate, with my own name Esther. Together, it encompasses my purpose to shine a light on medical knowledge, empower patients and the general public, create community among healthcare professionals, and guide those seeking jobs towards impactful career opportunities.

Under the Lumina Esther brand, I will be rebranding AMLTCHON to Diagnostic Searchlight focused on sharing informative online posts, hosting illuminating webinars, diving deep into diseases and diagnoses, collaborate with diverse medical experts to foster engaging discussions, and connect job seekers with open positions. My vision is that Lumina Esther will be a beacon of insight, a catalyst for positive change, and an uplifting force of progress in the healthcare sphere.

🔈 ANATOMY OF THE SCIATIC NERVE

Several important nerves arise from the sacral plexus and either supply the gluteal region (e.g., superior and inferior gluteal nerves) or pass through it to supply perineum and thigh (e.g., the pudental and sciatic nerves, respectively).

Sciatic Nerve is the largest nerve in the body and is the continuation of the main part of the sacral plexus. The branches converge at the inferior border of the piriformis to form the sciatic nerve, a thick, flattened band approximately 2cm wide. The sciatic nerve is the most lateral structure emerging through the greater sciatic foramen inferior to the piriformis.

Medial to the sciatic nerve are the inferior gluteal nerve and vessels, the internal pudendal vessels, and the pudendal nerve. The sciatic nerve runs inferolaterally under cover of the gluteus maximus, midwy between the greater trochanter and ischial tuberosity. The nerve rests on the ischium and then passes posterior to the obturator internus, quadratus femoris and adductor magnus muscles. The sciatic nerve is so large that it receives a named branch of the inferior gluteal artery, the artery to the sciatic nerve.

*Can depression cause lasting changes in immune cells?*


1. Researchers have established a link between depression and alterations in immune cells’ shapes and function for the first time.
2. Depression can cause negative physiological changes in the body, including low-grade inflammation and an increased output of certain stress-related hormones.
3. A new study has found that raised stress hormones and chronic inflammation observed in long-term depressive conditions can cause cell membranes to bend and become deformed.
These physiological responses to depression can cause the immune cell membrane to lose its ability to maintain its shape and internal organization, affecting its function and possibly leading to other diseases.

HAEMATOLOGICAL MALIGNANCIES

These are cancers that begin in blood-forming tissue, such as the bone marrow, or in the cells of the immune system. There are three main types of hematologic malignancies: leukemia, lymphoma and multiple myeloma.

1.Lymphoma is a cancer that starts in the lymphatic system, which is an important part of the immune system.

2. Multiple myeloma is a cancer that develops in the bone marrow and affects plasma cells.

3. Leukemia is a cancer that starts in the bone marrow or blood.


B- CELL MALIGNANCIES

B-cell malignancies are part of a group of hematologic malignancies called Non-Hodgkin’s lymphomas, or NHL.

NHL starts in the lymphatic system, which is an important part of the immune system. The vast majority of NHL are B-cell lymphomas, which originate in a B-cell, an immune cell responsible for producing antibodies which are important for fighting infection.

While B-cell malignancies can occur at any age, they are most prevalent in older adults.

NHL can be categorized as indolent, indicating a slow growing cancer, or aggressive, meaning fast growing. Two types of indolent B-cell cancers are follicular lymphoma and marginal zone lymphoma. Diffuse Large B-cell lymphoma is an aggressive B-cell malignancy and is the most common type of NHL. Some lymphomas – like mantle cell lymphoma, which is another B-cell lymphoma – do not fit neatly into either category of indolent or aggressive disease. Further, some indolent B-cell cancers are not categorized as lymphomas at all, such as chronic lymphocytic leukemia, or CLL.

Common symptoms of non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma and CLL include: enlargement of the lymph nodes and fatigue.

The development of symptoms may happen gradually over a period of years. Indolent NHL and CLL while slow growing, are generally considered incurable; patients generally have a choice of treatment options with the potential to offer periods of remission that can last a number of years. However, the cancer may relapse multiple times over the course of a patient’s disease creating an ongoing need for new treatment options.

Common Types of B-Cell Malignancies

1.Chronic lymphocytic leukemia

2.Diffuse Large B-cell lymphoma
3. Follicular Lymphoma

4. Mantle cell lymphoma

5. Marginal zone lymphoma

RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN DIABETES AND RAPID MOOD SHIFT

_Diabetes_ is a chronic condition that can affect both physical and mental health. Fluctuations in blood sugar may lead to rapid changes in mood, for example. And a person may find managing diabetes every day overwhelming, and this stress can have various effects on mental health.

Hypoglycemic/Hyperglycemic episodes
Impact a person's mood and thinking.

Been Hyperglycemia can affect person's mood when the individual experience symptoms such as :
⚜️ Difficulty in seeing /concentrating
⚜️Tiredness
⚜️ Low energy

Moreso, an Hypoglycemic condition can affect person's mood when they experience following symptoms:

🔆 Nervousness
🔆 Impatience

This shift in mood change in a diabetic patient could be as a result of the release of the hormone *ADRENALINE* which result in a Fight-or-Flight state known as *Adrenaline rush*⚡⚡
Which may triggers the above mentioned symptoms causing a rapid shift in the mood.
