I introduce to you another crunchy veggie that you can always snack on anyday anytime; Carrot(Daucus Carota). It's rich in beta-carotene(converted to Vitamin A in the body),lutein,potassium,vitamin C,fiber etc. Some of its health benefits are: It improves eye health, reduces blood pressure,boost immune system, aids digestion/ constipation and manages weight. Etc.
Note: Abuse of beta-carotene in carrot can make one's skin orange - yellow colour ; a condition called; Carotenemia.

Here's another health benefiting vegetable; Beetroot. It's rich in; Betalains,iron,nitrate,folate,fiber, vitamin C etc. It makes a glowing skin( because of its blood purification/ detoxification properties),lowers blood pressure, improves athletic performance and aids digestion etc

Pepper do not only spice up our foods but has significant health benefits like; Cleaning of blocked nose and congested lungs, improves eye health because of the presence of lutein especially in the green ( unripe ) pepper /beta carotene, promotes healthy heart by lowering blood serum cholesterol/ redices lipids deposits/ prevents or reverses excessive blood clotting, prevents bad breath, helps produce saliva and stimulates gasric juice and thereby aiding digestion/ boosting metabolism because of the presence of anti-microbial compound called Capsaicin( more in chilli pepper),prevents new fat cells from forming up/ suppreses appetite and thereby helps to manage weight etc. Do you know that antioxidants like Capsanthin and violaxanthin in pepper are present in the red and yellow respectively?

Turmeric is rich in Curcumin(an active compound),fiber, potassium, iron ,vitamin C etc. Some of its health benefits are; improvement of liver function, relieves pains (Arthritis), reduces the risk of cancer, regulates mood by lowering cortisol(stress hormone) levels and this makes turmeric a good anti-depressant, it balances blood sugar levels, detoxifies the body and reduces cholesterol /thins the blood thereby it helps reduce Blood Pressure etc. Note: Because of its blood thinning property, Pregnant women should avoid taking Turmeric or Turmeric Supplements. Again, for better absorption of curcumin into the body combine with piperine (it can be found in Black pepper) .

It contains Quercetin(anti-inflammatory agent) which helps inhibit arteries hardening;thereby making BP good, Allyl propyl disulphide(onion oil) which helps increase insulin level;thereby lowers blood sugar levels, Sulphur richness in Onion reduces skin acne, dandruff and helps detoxify the body cells of toxins.

Looking for a healthy way to get hydrated this summer ? Snack on WATERMELON.
