Connectors.

We all need them. We all use them. And interestingly, until we need them, we don't seem to appreciate them. Or the fact that it takes a certain level of SKILL to be able to bring two parties together for the purpose of transaction.

Brands are actively on the lookout for connectors. Skilled individuals who will bring their customers to them; and/or take them to where the customers are. And they are happy to share some of their marketing budgets on these connectors, because it makes good business sense: they spend less on marketing and promotions and gain more by building this network of connectors.

Or let's call them affiliates.

Jeff Bezos was on record recently to say that beyond being a company worth trillions of dollars, Amazon has enriched others to the tune of over $800bn. A segment of these 'others' include affiliates, people who spread Amazon's gospel to their communities, online and offline.

My point? There is a market gap: brands needing connectors, markets needing evangelists, and customers needing to be pointed to brands that would satisfy their requirements.

"Time, chance...and a certain N40k"

One of my most favourite books in the Bible is the Book of Ecclesiastes.

Don't know why, because it's one of the books I'm just coming to understand.

Maybe it's because the writer is the famous man I'm named after. Maybe.

Maybe it's because the book is a masterclass in creative and suspenseful writing that communicates its points so wisely.

Anyways, one of the things that King Solomon writes about that still trips me is in Ecclestiastes 9:11.

"I returned, and saw under the sun, that the race is not to the swift, nor the battle to the strong, neither yet bread to the wise, nor yet riches to men of understanding, nor yet favour to men of skill; but time and chance happeneth to them all."
Ecclesiastes 9:11 KJV

Wow. Such a deep quote.

And humbling too. Because it says that, in spite of all your 'hard' and 'smart' work, you're essentially just lucky.

Or favoured.

Or enjoying grace.

Call it what you will.

But the point is, sometimes, our biggest breaks will not come from the fact that we've worked hard. Or smart.

It could just be God working in the background to bring opportunities our way, which if we are fully prepared for, we can then maximise to our profit.

Which is why I think this recent announcement by Mr. Toyin Omotoso is a perfect and excellent example of time and chance.

Or luck. Or favour. Whichever rocks your boat.

Because the 72IG programme has just been made a bit more accessible as the price has been slashed from N60,000 to N40,000!

And this is a time-limited offer.

And I believe that you have this N40,000 somewhere. You may have planned for the N40k but not for this purpose. However, it is providence that you have a N40k somewhere and this is a good opportunity to invest it in something that can improve your lot.

Because I think you've had your mind on the 72IG for a while now and the fee was what was putting you off. Now, time and chance has aligned in your favour.

I'll advise that you cash out on your luck while it lasts. Because this luck runs out on the 25th.

Time and chance, friend. This is your time. And your chance.

TAKE IT!!!

Some musings on quality and consistency

I had to do a presentation on quality assurance today.

As I read through the materials and my notes during ISO 9001 classes, it hit me:

There's a marketing lesson here!

QA is aimed at building a certain type of competence into an organisation.

CONSISTENCY!

When quality management systems are fully operational, one of the outcomes is that.

The quality of that company's offerings will be consistent.

Their processes will be consistent.

The experience that consumers have of their products will be consistent.

Their promotional activities will be consistent.

They will have built a strong reputation based on the consistency of their operations and value offerings.

Here's the point:

You can't beat consistency.

Ask any football manager, he'll tell you the striker that delivers 10 goals every season consistently is better than the one who scores 30 in one season and blanks in others.

CONSISTENCY is king...

Build consistency into your marketing. Strategy and implementation.

Thank me later.

WELCOME NOTE: THIS IS A BAIT-AND-SWITCH OFFER!

I recently posted a job ad and talked about the potential of earning hourly.

It does not end there.

You actually have the chance to work with international clients through platforms like Fiverr and Upwork, and earn your income in forex.

This is the reality of many young people who have found a means to increase their income while helping people solve their problems.

And now, you have the opportunity to join them.

How?

Commit to an ‘orientation/onboarding’ training programme. You will have to bear the cost of this training, but in truth, it will just be an investment in honing your skills, so that you have the chance of getting the best results from this job opportunity

Because, how much you can earn on the job is ENTIRELY YOUR CALL!

Meaning, you can determine:
• WHO you want to work with
• HOW long you want to work for
• HOW MUCH you want to be paid

A KISS CAN TURN YOU TO 'MUMU'

Yes, YOU!

I know you are forming 'hard guy', but I know that you know that I am right!

Let me 'cast' myself.

I was on Instagram the other day when I stumbled on my ex/crush in 100 level at the University of Lagos

For context, I didn't wanna do relationship things in UNILAG o.

I had told myself that I was on a mission to finish with 1st class and women will only just distract me. Mumu me didn't know I was gonna eat breakfast before I even finished year 1.

As a serious student na, soon I had plenty people who were coming to me for one help or the other. That how Miss O came into the picture.

She was fine. Good heavens! And she was out of my league at that time.

I should have seen the signs sha: her forehead, gap-tooth, and Megan Good body could only mean trouble, but what did I know?

So I start helping Miss O with her assignments for a fee, at first. Then one afternoon, she runs into me inside the reading room and plants a sumptuous kiss on my lips.

"I scored 24 over 30 in the assignment. It's my best ever score. I will get my first B in this school!" (Miss O had been struggling with her grades before then)

That's how I started doing Miss O's assignments for her o, for free this time, because I was looking for a repeat kiss.

And that's how I got served a sumptuous breakfast because Miss O used my heart to play UEFA Champions League. I never got any repeat kiss and sis left me with withdrawal syndrome so bad, I didn't leave my room for days.

But let's leave all that.

What's the lesson here?

Wanna make a killing in sales?

Make your offer like the kiss Miss O gave me. Make an offer so good, your customers will be pining for it and will be having withdrawal syndrome.

Note that I didn't say, 'have a product so good'? Yes, I know, it's part of it, but you can have a good product and make a bad offer. The outcome? You won't sell!

So how do you make this kind of mumu button offer?

1. Know the customer(s) you are trying to sell to. Miss O and I had a rapport already and she had an idea about me
2. Know their pleasure and pain. Miss O knew I had a weakness for her, and she used it devastatingly
3. Know how to give them what they want, but also know how to give them just enough to make them keep wanting more. Miss O didn't give me all the goods. Just one kiss, and she made my mouth water for more
Hone your skills at doing these 3 things? You'll have customers eating out your hands.

However, the key to these skills is writing. Yes. WRITING.

Which is why I'd like to you check out Mr. Andy Mukolo's Foreign Copywriting Initiative. Let me allow the man to tell you, by himself, why I am famzing his course.

Happy new week, and God bless Miss O wherever she is

"Awoof can run belle"

Yeah, I know there's little that beats the feeling of spending another person's money.

Personally, I find it therapeutic when I don't have to pay my bills, especially since I've been doing a bit of that since before college.

But I have since found that when it comes to some things, 'free' does not mean good.

Why? Because we usually do not give it the attention it deserves.

Reminds me of a training a few friends of mine attended some years back. I recall how long they scraped and saved to pay for it, and how they hyped the programme afterward - as if it was the best thing since sliced bread

Last year, I won a coupon that got me on that same training.

And I called my guys and asked: "is this what you guys were so excited about? It wasn't all that jare.

Turns out - and I only came to this realisation much, much later - that I was the one that did not value the programme then, because I did not pay for it.

As I speak, one of the persons who attended the training in my cohort just got a remote job with a US company, because they implemented what they learned from the training. And I think they took it a bit more seriously than I did because they paid for it.

So sometimes, it being free may be less beneficial for you, because sometimes, it might blind you to the full potential of value that that item offers.

And like the late Mr. Ubong King said, "invest heavily in yourself. Invest in increasing the amount of things that you know and can do".

Words on marble, if I can say so.

Because achieving your goals this year will be tied to just that!

Cheers

Solomon Tommy
