The idea that we eat what we want or like and how we like it should be checked. The introduction of food, such as jollof rice with plantain, vegetables and meat should not be confused as the reason for eating. Your body does not need food in that sense. What your body needs is nutrient.
Basically there are 7 classes of food. We have carbohydrate, protein, fats and oils, minerals, vitamins, water and fibre. The classes of food are subdivided into two types of nutrients: macronutrients (carbohydrate, protein, fat and oil and water) and micronutrients (minerals, vitamins and fibre). All these must be in your daily meals.
When I hear people say they want to lose weight to have a flat tummy and therefore kick out carbohydrates or some other nutrient and stick to vitamins in fruits, I'm really sad because we have come to an understanding that that is where the problem lies. Malnourishment is when you don't eat a balanced diet. So, when for the sake of your figure you go through extreme diets you are being malnourished.
Naturopathy or the natural lifestyle is not an alternative lifestyle nor is natural medicine an alternative medicine. How can the first be an alternative? Reduce what isn't natural in your intake. Infact, eliminate what isn't natural in your intake and I'm not promising a flat tummy or an hourglass figure, but I'm promising health which in turn relates to wealth.
