A woman's body weight has direct effect on her fertility; if a woman is underweight, there is a high tendency that she may have issues carrying the baby to term, which is miscarriage.
This also applies to a women who is overweight; there are complications that may occur due to been overweight.

Let's talk about overweight been the most popular.
Being overweight is defined as having a body mass index (BMI) of 25–29.9.
Obesity is defined as having a BMI of 30 or greater.
BMI means Body Mass Index: it is a person's weight in kilograms divided by the square of height in meters. That is, if you are 70kg and your height is 1.7, your BMI is 70kg divided by 1.7 × 1.7 which is 2.89.
70kg ÷ 2.89 = 24.2
The BMI here is 24.2 which is within the healthy range.
To simply put, if a woman is above 100kg she is most likely obese.

Obesity affects a woman's fertility in diverse ways but I would simply list a few of the most common;
- Women who are above 100kg have a high chances of experiencing hormonal imbalance which would lead to irregular menstrual cycle that would change her ovulation thereby reducing the chances of conception.
- Obese women have an increased risk of pregnancy loss (miscarriage) compared with women of normal weight.
- Obese women have a higher chances of having unexplained infertility (Unexplained infertility is simply when all medical test shows that everything is fine but yet still she can't take in. These are factors beyond explanation medically.
- Obesity increases the likelihood a woman many give birth through CS (Caesarian Section)
- Women who are obsessed before pregnancy are prone to develop gestational diabetes and having babies who may be overweight as they grow and also have diabetes later in their life.

These above are just few major effects of obesity in women, It is advisable to maintain an healthy weight, preferably between 60 - 80kg which keeps you in the best form for smooth pregnancy.

The 'Global Fertility Crisis' published by BBC shows that about 65% of marriages are experiencing infertility problems globally - 6 out of 10 couples in the world today are dealing with infertility😬

This is a really serious issue that a lot of people don't know it's a problem, especially young people.
Most people think that just because you have s*x often or you are s*xuality active means that you are fertile - s*x is an ACTIVITY, Fertility is the natural CAPABILITY to PRODUCE OFFSPRING (BABIES); both are different things entirely.

You can have the capacity to have s*x often but you are not fertile🤔

You can be fertile & not have the capacity to have s*x🤔

S*x & Fertility are 2 different things!!!

This is why you need to gain knowledge to understand the difference & be able to help yourself.

If you are trying to conceive or know someone who is then read this carefully👇
You will increase your chances of getting pregnant if you have s*x two days before you ovulate and the day of ovulation (releasing an egg from the o***y). This is usually about 14 days after the first day of your last period, if your cycle is around 28 days long.

An egg lives for about 12-24 hours after being released. For pregnancy to happen, the egg must be fertilised by a s***m within this time.

S***m can live for about 5-7 days inside a woman's body. So if you've had s*x in the days before ovulation, the s***m will have had time to travel up the fallopian tubes to "wait" for the egg to be released.
When the s***m meet with the egg, conception happens & 9 months later we have a baby.
So timing your s*x two days before you ovulate and the day of ovulation can increase the chances of conception.
Of course this doesn't mean you can't get pregnant on other days of the month because your cycle can change, however, timing your s*x around the days of ovulation can increase the chances.

The Goodness of Oranges

Oranges are a superb natural source of fiber, vitamin C, thiamine, folate, and antioxidants

Oranges are rich in various bioactive plant compounds, which are believed to be responsible for many beneficial health effects.

The two main classes of antioxidant plant compounds in oranges are carotenoids and phenolics (phenolic compounds) which are very nutritious to the body.

Oranges helps to improve your heart health because it contains flavonoids, especially hesperidin, that have protective effects against heart disease.
Isolated fibers in oranges has been shown to decrease blood cholesterol levels also.

The citric acid and citrates in oranges helps to prevent kidney stone formation.

Having oranges every now & down would help to improve overall health & wellbeing.

DO YOU EAT APPLES OFTEN?

I personally love eating apples. This week alone, I have eaten about 6 apples - I really love the red apples to be precise but I eat a lot of the green apples more.

Aside from the sweet taste of fresh apples, the rumbling in my tummy I get after every consumption is a sign of its immediate effect in my body; for me, sometimes, I go to the toilet easily within an hour after eating apples, especially if I had not been able to go to toilet that day.
This is as a result of the high fiber content in apples & fibre helps to move the bowels naturally thereby triggering the body to want to use the loo more often, which is healthy.
Let me share with you however some key nutritional benefits of apples & why you should eat atleast 2 apples a minimum of twice a week;

- Apples contain essential nutrients our bodies nneed. Nutrients like Fibre, Vitamins A,B C, E & K, Pottasium, Copper etc.
These nutrients are needed for your body to function optimally.

- Apples contain polyphenols.
According to Healthline: "Polyphenols are micronutrients that we get through certain plant-based foods. They’re packed with antioxidants and potential health benefits. It’s thought that polyphenols can improve or help treat digestion issues, weight management difficulties, diabetes, neurodegenerative disease, and cardiovascular diseases."

- Apples contain nutrients that can improve heart functions, immune system, brain functions, bone functions, the gut & colon, proper growth of cells thereby preventing cancer & improve general health & wellbeing.

- If you are a woman/man trying to conceive or make a woman conceive, you should consume apples; apples has been linked to help improve s***m count & ovarian functions thereby helping to boost fertility & increase chances of conception.

With all of these listed benefits, if you are not eating atleast 4 apples weekly, you are doing your body a disservice.

A nutritious and well-balanced diet can certainly help support fertility in both men and women. Here are some fruits that helps naturally boost a woman's fertility;

Citrus Fruits
Citrus fruits like oranges and grapefruits are some of the best sources of vitamin C which helps stabilize ovulation and encourages the release of an egg. They're also packed with calcium, potassium, and folate.
Grapefruits and oranges are also very high in the polyamine putrescine, which can improve egg and semen health.

Beans
Beans are an excellent source of fiber and folate which is crucial to maintaining a healthy hormonal balance. Lentils also contain high levels of the polyamine s***midine, which may help s***m fertilize the egg.
Beans are also high in protein, which can help promote healthier ovulation in women.

7 NATURAL WAYS TO BOOST YOUR FERTILITY

As infertility is becoming a serious issue around the world, more than ever before, couples need to pay attention to how to boost their fertility naturally, and it all boils down to your foods - what you eat or don't eat.
In the 60s and 70s, most of the life-threatening health challenges like cancer, diabetes, hypertension, heart problems, liver failure, kidney failure were not a major topic of discussion in the health sector, but now, we all know that most of these health challenges don't even have a permanent cure or solution.
The underlying cause of these health challenges is in our foods - what we eat or don't eat.
This also applies to fertility - the reason for the high increase in infertility rates in the world today is our foods - what we eat or don't eat.
If you can work on the food aspect patiently and consistently, you will see tremendous changes in your general health even far beyond just your fertility.

Here are some ways to boost your fertility naturally, would share four of them in this post, the remaining three in the next post and break down the individual points in subsequent posts ;

1. Eat Foods That Are Rich in Antioxidants.
Antioxidants are compounds produced in your body & found in foods. They help to defend your cells from damage caused by potentially harmful molecules known as free radicals.
Antioxidants rich foods will improve fertility rates in both men & women.
Example of foods high in antioxidant are; avocados, apples, tomatoes, carrots, spinach, cabbage, beetroot, berries, aloe vera etc

2. Cut Down on Carbs
Following a lower-carb diet is generally recommended for women with polycystic o***y syndrome (PCOS).
Lower-carb diets may help you maintain a healthy weight, reduce insulin levels and encourage fat loss, all while helping menstrual regularity.

3. Eat Less Refined Carbs
It’s not just the amount of carbs that’s important, but also the type.
Refined carbs include sugary foods and drinks and processed grains, including white pasta, bread and rice.

4. Take Multivitamins daily

Women who take multivitamins may be less likely to experience ovulatory infertility.
In fact, about 20% of ovulatory infertility may be avoided if women consume 3 or more multivitamins per week.
One study found that women who took multivitamins had up to a 41% lower risk of infertility. For women trying to get pregnant, a multivitamin containing folate may be especially beneficial.
A dietary supplement including chaste berry, green tea, vitamin E and vitamin B6, improved chances of conception.
After three months on the supplement, 26% of the women became pregnant compared to just 10% of those who did not take the supplement.
Lookout for the next post for the remaining three natural ways to boost fertility.
If you have any questions or need any clarification, drop it here - it would be responded to.
