Let’s debunk this myth. Thick and dark honey is not really a sign of it being pure honey.
Let me explain.
First let’s talk about the colour.
The colour of honey is affected by very many things including location, whether conditions, season of the year and the source of the flower (nectar).
Because of the effect of these conditions, honey comes in a variety of very different colours ranging from very soft whitish colours to darker shades like amber, gold or brown.
The colour of honey however may be a pointer to other things like its nutritional contents.
For example light coloured honey may be a great of energy and also have a lot of numerous restorative properties.
While darker coloured honey may have a lot of antibacterial properties and rich in minerals like magnesium, iron, and phosphorus.
Secondly, about the texture,
The only thing that determines the texture of honey, making it either thick of thin is its moisture content not the quality.
Pure honey can actually be in either liquid, solid or in the form of a cream.
Also, nowadays, people who adulterated honey can now artificially enhance the colour and texture of honey perfectly.
So don’t get carried away by how thick it is.
The conclusion here is that original honey can be dark coloured or light coloured.
