Customer feedback Monday

Loss of poultry birds is not just about animal health, it's loss of money, investment and livelihoods for these farmers

Last week, A poultry farmer devastated reached out to us via WhatsApp to log complaints about mortality, drop in egg production from 30 crates daily to just 4 crates ok her layers farm.

Immediately, our system routed her to one of our Veterinary doctors. Complaints taken, laboratory tests done and recommendations delivered in just about a couple of hours via WhatsApp.

The following days, we followed her up consistently and the story had changed, mortality had stopped, birds eating well and egg production gradually taking shape

When a farmer lose her chicken, she didn't just lose chicken, she lost money, investment and source of livelihoods

We are rewriting that story. our platform delivers veterinary services to farmers ten times faster.

πŸš¨πŸ„ Why Emergency Planning Is Important on Farms
Emergencies Happen Unexpectedly

Disease outbreaks, fire incidents, sudden mortality, feed shortages, flooding, or equipment failure can happen without warning. The difference between recovery and heavy loss is preparation.

πŸ” Why Every Farm Needs an Emergency Plan:
* Faster response during disease outbreaks
* Reduced mortality and spread
* Clear isolation procedures
* Backup feed and water supply
* Contact access to veterinary support

⚠️ Panic increases losses. Planning reduces damage.

Smart farmers don’t wait for crisis β€” they prepare for it.

πŸ˜΄πŸ„ Understanding Animal Rest and Productivity
Rest Improves Performance

Animals are not machines. Just like humans, they need proper rest to grow, produce, and stay healthy.

πŸ” Why Rest Matters on the Farm:
* Improves weight gain and feed conversion
* Supports milk and egg production
* Reduces stress levels
* Strengthens immunity
* Enhances overall performance

Overcrowding, constant disturbance, poor housing, and excessive handling reduce rest time β€” and productivity drops.

Good housing design, proper spacing, ventilation, and consistent routines allow animals to rest well and perform better.

Healthy rest equals healthy profit.

πŸŒΎπŸ„ Why Feed Quality Is More Than a Brand Name
Not All Feeds Perform Equally

Many farmers choose feed based on brand popularity. But performance is not about the name on the bag β€” it is about what is inside.

πŸ” What Truly Determines Feed Quality?
* Proper nutrient balance
* Correct protein and energy levels
* Freshness and storage conditions
* Digestibility
* Consistency in formulation

Two feeds may look the same but produce very different results in weight gain, egg production, milk yield, or feed conversion.

⚠️ Poor-quality feed increases cost per kilogram of gain and reduces farm profit.

Smart farmers evaluate performance, not just packaging.

πŸ“‰πŸ„ Common Reasons Animals Stop Growing on Farms
Growth Problems Have Causes

When animals stop gaining weight or growing as expected, it is never random. There is always a reason behind poor performance.

πŸ” Common Causes of Poor Growth:
* Poor-quality or imbalanced feed
* Inconsistent feeding schedules
* Internal parasites and hidden infections
* Overcrowding and housing stress
* Poor ventilation
* Lack of clean water
* Mineral and nutrient deficiencies

⚠️ Slow growth means delayed market time, higher feeding costs, and reduced profit.

Healthy growth requires proper nutrition, good housing, routine deworming, and regular veterinary checks.

Good farmers don’t ignore growth delaysβ€”they investigate early.

πŸš¨πŸ„ Why Farmers Should Separate Sick Animals Early
Delay Increases Losses

One sick animal can quickly affect the entire farm if not isolated immediately.

πŸ” Why Early Separation Matters:
* Prevents rapid disease spread
* Reduces treatment costs
* Protects healthy animals
* Lowers mortality rates
* Preserves farm productivity

⚠️ Waiting too long allows infection to circulate, increasing losses and reducing profit.

Smart farmers act fast. Isolation is not crueltyβ€”it is protection.

🦠🚜 Why Disease Spreads Faster on Unplanned Farms
Poor Planning Increases Risk

Many disease outbreaks on farms are not accidentalβ€”they are the result of poor farm planning. When farm layout, movement, and hygiene are not properly planned, diseases spread faster and losses increase.

πŸ” How Poor Planning Increases Disease Risk:
* Overcrowding and poor spacing
* Poor drainage and waste accumulation
* Uncontrolled movement of people and animals
* Mixing sick and healthy animals
* Lack of isolation or quarantine areas
* Poor ventilation and housing design

⚠️ The Impact on Farms:
* Rapid disease transmission
* High treatment and medication costs
* Increased mortality
* Reduced productivity and profits

πŸ›‘οΈ What Good Farm Planning Should Include:
* Proper housing layout and spacing
* Designated sick bays or isolation areas
* Controlled entry and movement
* Good drainage and sanitation
* Clear biosecurity practices

Good planning is disease prevention. EVET supports farmers with guidance, inputs, and veterinary services to reduce risks and protect farm investments.

πŸ„πŸ‘€ Understanding Normal and Abnormal Animal Behavior
Behavior Shows Animal Health

Animals communicate their health through behavior. Knowing what is normal helps farmers quickly detect stress, illness, or poor farm conditions before losses occur.

πŸ” Normal Animal Behaviour Includes:
* Steady appetite and regular feeding
* Normal movement and posture
* Social interaction within the group
* Alert response to surroundings
* Regular resting and activity patterns

⚠️ Abnormal Behaviour to Watch For:
* Isolation from the group
* Aggression or unusual restlessness
* Loss of appetite or excessive drinking
* Lameness or abnormal posture
* Repeated vocalization or dullness

πŸ›‘οΈ Why Behaviour Monitoring Matters:
* Early disease detection
* Reduced treatment cost
* Better productivity and survival
* Improved animal welfare

Good farmers read behaviour before problems escalate. EVET supports farmers with knowledge, tools, and veterinary guidance to keep animals healthy and productive.
