Kogi State Specialist Hospital Introduces Afternoon Shift at GOPD to Enhance Patient Care

The Management of Kogi State Specialist Hospital (KSSH), Lokoja, wishes to inform the general public and all members of staff of the introduction of an afternoon shift at the General Out-Patient Department (GOPD), effective from April 1, 2026.

This development is part of the hospital’s ongoing commitment to improving healthcare service delivery and ensuring increased access to quality medical care for patients across the state and beyond.

Under the new arrangement, medical doctors at the GOPD will now be available to attend to patients until 7:00 PM daily, thereby extending consultation hours and reducing the burden of long waiting times often experienced during regular hours.

Staff members are encouraged to fully support this initiative, while patients and the general public are advised to take advantage of the extended service hours for timely and efficient medical attention.

The Management remains dedicated to providing patient-centered care and continuously improving service delivery in line with global best practices.

Healthcare Boost in Kogi as KSSH Lokoja Strengthens KGSHIA Alliance

The Kogi State Specialist Hospital (KSSH), Lokoja, under the leadership of its Chief Medical Director, Dr. Oluseyi Bamidele Folagbade, has reinforced its commitment to improved healthcare delivery through a strategic engagement with the Kogi State Health Insurance Agency (KGSHIA).

The high-level meeting, held at the KGSHIA Conference Hall in Lokoja, focused on strengthening inter-agency collaboration and enhancing operational synergy to ensure uninterrupted access to quality and affordable healthcare services for enrollees across the state.

The Executive Secretary of KGSHIA, Dr. Adekunle Aledare, acknowledged the significant improvements in service delivery at KSSH, attributing the progress to the proactive leadership of Dr. Folagbade and the hospital’s growing reputation for patient-centered care.

The Agency emphasized the importance of sustained engagement with KSSH as a critical step toward achieving efficient healthcare delivery and maintaining a seamless system that benefits all stakeholders.

Kogi State Specialist Hospital Holds Grand Send-Forth for Director of Administration Hajiya Hassanat Hussein

The Management of Kogi State Specialist Hospital, Lokoja, on Friday, 13th March, honoured the outgoing Director of Administration, Hajiya Hassanat Hussein, with a colourful send-forth ceremony in recognition of her years of dedicated service and remarkable contributions to the growth and development of the hospital.

Speaking during the event, the Chief Medical Director of the hospital, Dr. Oluseyi Bamidele Folagbade, commended Hajiya Hussein for her diligence, dedication, innovation, and exemplary leadership throughout her tenure. He noted that her administrative competence and commitment to duty significantly strengthened the operational efficiency and institutional development of the hospital.

Dr. Folagbade described her as a disciplined and dependable professional whose passion for service left a lasting impact on the hospital’s administration and workforce. He wished her continued success and fulfilment in her future endeavours as she exits the service of the hospital.

Other members of the hospital management team also took turns to extol the virtues of the outgoing Director, describing her as a supportive colleague and a seasoned administrator who carried out her responsibilities with integrity, wisdom, and a deep sense of responsibility.

On March 7, 2025, His Excellency Alh. Ahmed Usman Ododo announced Dr. Oluseyi Bamidele Folagbade as the Acting Chief Medical Director of Kogi State Specialist Hospital, Lokoja and subsequently confirmed as the substantive CMD on 20th February, 2026.

CMD is a Title but We Will Always Remain Colleagues Dr Oluseyi Bamidele Folagbade Tells KSSH Igala Community During Congratulatory Visit

The Chief Medical Director of Kogi State Specialist Hospital Lokoja, Dr Oluseyi Bamidele Folagbade, has stated that although the position of Chief Medical Director is a tenured administrative title, he still regards every member of staff as colleagues working toward a common goal.

Dr Folagbade made this known on Friday 6th March 2026 when the Igala staff of Kogi State Specialist Hospital Lokoja paid him a congratulatory visit at the CMD Conference Hall.

Speaking during the visit members of the delegation commended the Chief Medical Director for the remarkable innovations recorded in the hospital since his assumption of office. Various speakers noted that his leadership style has significantly strengthened unity among staff and created a more relaxed and productive working environment within the hospital.

They explained that the improved atmosphere has encouraged cooperation among the different professional groups and has further promoted harmony and efficiency in service delivery.

The delegation also highlighted some of the achievements recorded under Dr Folagbade’s leadership including the regular supply of drugs in the hospital and the introduction of motivational allowances for doctors among other initiatives aimed at improving staff welfare and patient care.

While congratulating the Chief Medical Director the group encouraged him to sustain his engagement with the Kogi State Government so that the hospital can benefit from additional support and facilities such as staff buses and other essential utilities that will further enhance hospital operations.

Responding Dr Oluseyi Bamidele Folagbade expressed appreciation to the group for their support solidarity and goodwill. He assured them of his commitment to maintaining an open door policy and pledged to continue doing everything within his capacity to build a more united and functional health institution.

He further explained that the office of the Chief Medical Director has not changed who he is as a person describing the position as a privilege and responsibility that comes with service to others.

Dr Folagbade also noted that administrative decisions that may sometimes appear inconvenient are never taken intentionally against anyone but are meant to ensure that the hospital functions effectively for the good of both staff and patients. He encouraged members of staff to always communicate constructive ideas that will contribute to the continued growth and development of the hospital.

The meeting concluded with prayers offered by both Christian and Muslim members for the peace unity and continued progress of Kogi State Specialist Hospital Lokoja as well as the development of Kogi State.
