CLASSES OF TOILET INFECTIONS.
By Pathogen Class
Bacterial infections are the most common class and include E. coli, Shigella, and Salmonella, which spread when contaminated hands touch the mouth. Clostridium difficile is a dangerous bacterial class because it forms hardy spores that survive on toilets for months and resist alcohol-based sanitizers.
Viral infections such as norovirus and influenza spread easily through restrooms via aerosolized particles when a toilet is flushed without the lid closed. Norovirus requires only a few viral particles to cause infection, making it highly transmissible from contaminated surfaces.
Fungal infections like athlete's foot and Candida thrive in warm, moist bathroom environments, typically entering through skin contact with damp floors rather than toilet seats.
Parasitic infections such as pinworms and Giardia spread when microscopic eggs or cysts from f***l matter contaminate surfaces and are accidentally ingested.
