PARENTS, GUARDIANS, TEACHERS, SCHOOL HEADS AND OWNERS : READ THIS FOR THE END OF THE YEAR PREPARATION

It is that time of the year when schools organize school parties and prize giving ceremony. Children and parents look forward to it as it is an avenue to appraise the academic year.

Mothers, we need to talk.

Last term in my school, a JSS1 student was caught cheating in a class test, after counseling and questioning, he confessed that his father told him that, it's either he comes between first to fifth or he should be ready to face the music. I have been wondering if all our children must come first.

As parents, we should not push our children too far by giving them the academic ultimatum you know that they can't reach. Let's stop comparing our kids academic capacities with another child. There are thousands of reasons a child might not come first in his class but that doesn't make the child a dullard. Many parents want the names of their wards to be mentioned as the best, but what help are you rendering to make the child the best.

Also, what I feel a mother should worry about is the overall percentage of their children. A child with a percentage of 80% overall is not a dullard. Simply because s/he doesn't come first doesn't mean that such child can be termed a dullard. A child with 60/70% might have given his/her best. Sometimes, our best is not the children's best. Education is not about the cognitive effect alone, the psychomotor and the affective too should be noticed in a child.

Many parents are also fond of using their own academic prowess to measure their children's own. Can the children use your wealth to measure other fathers in the world? How will you feel if your child ask you why you are not as rich as Dangote, Adenuga or Bill Gates?

Furthermore, parent should desist from causing sibling rivalry among their children because one is doing well academically than the other. Whether we like it or not, not all our children will make ends meet with their

UNILORIN Post-UTME: 64% of 39, 289 Candidates score 50% and above
The Deputy Vice-Chancellor Academic, University of Ilorin, Professor Sylvia Malomo has disclosed that 64 percent of the 39, 289 candidates that sat for the Unilorin 2018 post-UTME screening scored 50 percent and above.
Professor Malomo said about 40, 000 candidates registered for the screening. She added that 39,289 applicants partook in the screening exercise while a total of 670 candidates were absent.
She noted that 36 percent of the participated candidates failed the test by scoring 48 percernt and below.
The Deputy Vice-Chancellor disclosed this Friday, August 31, 2018 in her office during an interview with Is'haq Babatunde about the just concluded post-UTME exercise that held between Monday 27th and Thursday 30th of August, 2018.
Malomo explained that those candidates who missed the test during their stipulated time were given the opportunity to write the test on Thursday under mopup which according to her brought a close to the exercise.
Professor Malomo gave thanks to God for recording a smooth sailing screening exercise, saying that the university had begun process of collating the results for the admission for the successful candidates.
On the two students that were apprehended for examination malpractice on Monday during the screening exercise, Deputy Vice-Chancellor said one of them has been re-considered because investigation revealed that the error was from the cyber cafe operator where he registered who uploaded different passport.
She therefore advised applicants to be very vigilant while registering in the cafe and promptly report any error committed during the registration to the university for possible solution before the exam day.

Why is it that creatures made to be Prince and princess are swimming in difficulties, tragedy and trauma when we ought to be in the palace having a deserved luxurious life? Why dwelling in the desert when there is a fertile and full of nutrient void meant for you to occupy? Why stressing your self and wasting your time unnecessarily on what you cannot get done by your self when the one capable and always ready to bear your burden for you is there watching you and nodding his head in pity of you? Ephesians 3:20" Why are we greasing the elbow of the devil to continue to put us in stark darkness & make us more blind not to see the light and the one that is able to turn all our predicaments around? "Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you *rest* . Matthew 11: 28 " why is it that we have the assurance that we are already made librated and prosper but just to make it manifest and you are derailing? How great is that darkness in you that you could not sit and reason that life without God is a life in totally darkness, shambles and no fruition? Of what level of irrationality is it to have the one that can even give to you beyond your request, fight your course beyond your expectation, take you higher than you ever envisaged, and still decide to seek joy from where none can be found? What is your level of education, what is your qualification, what is the level of your wisdom that makes you think you can live an expected and reasonable life outside God? "The *fear* of the LORD is the beginning of *wisdom* : a good *understanding* have all they that do his *commandments** : his praise endureth for ever. Psalms 111:10" Any wisdom outside God is absolutely tantamount to the foolishness of the highest order; 'cos through your own wisdom, that where you think is the way to your prosperity is the surest way to your condemnation and futility... TURN & DRAW NEAR TO GOD, SO THAT HE CAN DRAW NEAR TO YOU, FORSAKE & RUN FROM SIN SO THAT YOU CAN BE MADE WHOLE, RECONCILE WITH GOD NOW, SO THAT YOU CAN HAVE A WORTHY LIFE & LIVE FOREVER.
