The Top Management Committee of the CUSTECH Teaching Hospital Okene held a crucial meeting with the entire adhoc staff of the hospital.
The Chief Medical Director, Dr Shaibu Stephen Babatunde addressed the staff expressing appreciation for their dedication to duty and also spoke about the management's effort to see that they are converted to permanent staff.
Dr. Shaibu then announced that Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo through the efforts of the Commissioner of Health, Dr Abdulazeez Adams Adeiza and the hospital management, has approved the absorption of 65 clinical staff as permanent staff of CUSTECH Teaching Hospital Okene.
While congratulating those concerned, he explained that the absorption of adhoc staff will be in batches and urged the non-clinical adhoc staff to be patient.
In a phone-in message, the Commissioner of Health, Dr Abdulazeez Adams Adeiza, congratulated the newly absorbed staff and urged them to justify their absorption through improved service delivery.
In their remarks, the Heads of Administration Hajia Rabiat Sheidu and that of Nursing, Mrs Otaru congratulated the absorbed staff, advising them to take the elevation as an indication to work harder. They enjoined the others to wait patiently for their time and sustain the tempo of hard work.

The Medical and Dental Council of Nigeria (MDCN) today, Friday 29th Aug. paid an inspection visit to the Confluence University of Science and Technology (CUSTECH) Teaching Hospital Okene.
The visiting team which were accompanied by the Vice Chancellor and Management of the University, Provost College of Medicine at CUSTECH Osara were in the hospital to inspect facilities and manpower for the training of medical students.
Deputy Registrar of the Medical and Dental Council of Nigeria, (MDCN ), Dr. Nnaemeka Nwakanma, said as a regulatory body, the Council will not compromise standards before granting accreditation to any institution to run Medical program.
He commended the synergy between the CMD of the hospital and Vice Chancellor to ensure the success of the inspection visit.
The CMD, Dr. Shaibu Stephen Babatunde noted that the visit by the MDCN was needful to enable the institution put finishing touches to all that is needed for full accreditation.
Dr. Shaibu noted that concerted efforts were on by the hospital, University alongside government support to achieve set goals.
The team then took a tour of the hospital led by the CMD and Provost, College of Medicine, Osara. Departments inspected include the male, female and pediatric wards, Ophthalmology, Dental, Medical Records, Physiotherapy, Laboratory, A&E, Pharmacy, Labor and Maternity wards as well as the construction sites for the students hostels and doctors' quarters.

Representatives of a Drug company known as Drug Stoc Ehub Ltd, visited the hospital today, Thursday 28th Aug for a drug presentation .
Manager of the Northern zone of the company, Mr. John Idowu, said the product, Salonpas is a pain relief patch for acute musculoskeletal pain.
He explained that the product is convenient, has no side effect, simple to use and reduces the intake of pills.
Participating staff of the hospital were drawn from the clinical and non-clinical departments.
The CMD, Dr Shaibu Stephen Babatunde, the CMAC, Dr. K. K Onifade, HOA, Hajia Rabiat Sheidu and the Chief Pharmacist among other staff were in attendance.

Selected staff from critical departments of the CUSTECH Teaching Hospital Okene were today trained on how to handle a cardiac situation.
The training which was sponsored by the Joseph Oyeyani Makoju Foundation had the Provost of the College of Medicine at CUSTECH Osara, Professor Solomon Avidime as facilitator and a Consultant Physician and Cardiologist, Dr. Henry Oshaju as the trainer.
The Makoju Foundation also donated a Defibrillator (a machine used to resuscitate a patient who has had cardiac arrest) to the hospital as part of its philanthropic gesture aimed at saving lives and to enhance healthcare in Ebiraland.
The donor, Dr. Ovayoza Makoju Adeleye said the donation was to mark her 50th birthday and in memory of her brother that died in February this year.
The participants were trained on Basic Life Support (BLS) Cardio-Pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR).
Prof. Avidime said the training will enable participants to have the knowledge on how to save a patient with cardiac arrest.
The CMD, Dr Shaibu Stephen Babatunde, expressed appreciation to the Makoju Foundation for the gesture, which he noted will go a long way in saving lives of victims and reducing cases of cardiac arrest victims.

NAFDAC team on Pharmaco-vigilance visits CUSTECH Teaching Hospital Okene.

A team from the National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC), Abuja has paid a visit to the management of the CUSTECH Teaching Hospital Okene.
According to the team lead, Mrs Georgina Asabe, the team is in the hospital to assess, monitor and evaluate Pharmaco-vigilance activities, which is part of their mandate and solicited for management support for the period of time they will be carrying out the assignment.
Responding, the CMD, Dr. Shaibu Stephen Babatunde, welcomed the team to the hospital, assuring that the needed assistance will be given to them and wished them well.
