Title: "When Me Becomes We: The Pressure We Ignore
It’s that time of the year again, music in the air, food on every table, joy in every corner. But while we’re celebrating, something else is quietly happening in the background: our bodies are whispering for help, and many of us aren’t listening.
Let’s talk about blood pressure, not the hospital kind that makes you panic, but the one that’s always there, quietly responding to the choices we make every day.
You see, there’s a kind of pressure that doesn’t show up with loud signs. No fever, no swelling, no wound. Just a little more tired than usual… a small headache… maybe a racing heart after a short walk. Most times, we wave it off, saying, It’s nothing, I’ve just been stressed. " But sometimes, that “nothing” is high blood pressure, and it’s slowly doing damage.
This festive season, as we eat, laugh, and celebrate, our hearts are doing the work behind the scenes. The extra salt in that delicious meat, the overload of fizzy drinks, the drinks we say we’re taking “just to relax”... it all adds up. And before we know it, what was meant to bring joy begins to take a toll.
On the flip side, some of us are constantly dizzy, weak, or feeling like we might pass out at any moment. It’s not laziness or overthinking. It could be low blood pressure, another quiet struggle that can turn dangerous if ignored.
Whether too high or too low, pressure is pressure. And in this season of joy, it’s important to be mindful, not just of what we eat, but also of what we allow into our minds and hearts . Emotional stress is just as powerful as physical pressure.
So this December, let’s care deeply, not only for the people we love, but for ourselves too. Let’s check our blood pressure. Let’s rest. Let’s drink water. Let’s laugh fully, eat wisely, and live with balance.
Because health doesn’t take a holiday, and neither should our self-care.
Merry Christmas 🥰
