*MAY 2021 NEWSLETTER*
*From the Desk of the PSN Imo State Secretary*
" *May,* more than any other month of the year, wants us to feel most alive." - Fennel Hudson
Welcome to the month of May, the start of Spring.
The State Chairman of PSN, Dr Stanley Emegwara, Esq, FPCPharm and his team warmly wish the entire Imo pharmacists a happy Workers' Day today. We note that pharmacists have remained in the frontline all through this period of pandemic and economic hardship and more recently, insecurity in our dear state Imo. Never had it been heard that the Imo pharmacist withdrew their services nor relented in providing quality medicines to the Imo public. We urge all to stay and remain safe and ensure we keep up to our sworn oath of service to the public.
Last month was largely uneventful. However, the exco is continually working behind the scenes.
The YPG Imo State held her elections in April and Pharm. Osorachukwu Okonkwo took over the reins of leadership from Pharm. Greg Iheka.
The Interim Committee of the ALPS Imo State organised one of the most peaceful and credible elections of our time, bringing the charismatic Dr Judith Ogoh at the helms of affairs of this all-important interest group of the PSN.
Also, just on April 28th, Dr Chigozie Agbanusi, FPCPharm was elected to lead a dynamic and progressive team of executive members at ACPN Imo State.
We wish all these new officers well in their respective offices and pledge our support to them in order to accomplish collective goals and tasks, notably, the ACPN, which will host the 2022 National Conference in Owerri.
The health days for the month of April were observed, namely the World Health Day and the World Malaria Day.
April remains significant in the sense that it was in April that we launched our social media platforms. The PSN Imo State now has a page and a Twitter account at
Pharmaceutical Society of Nigeria - PSN Imo State and respectively. This is to increase our visibility and keep up with trending information technology. We are all encouraged to like the page and also follow the link to keep abreast with happenings of the Society.
In April, there was a flurry of donations in response to the call by the State Chairman for assistance towards the pharmacy land project. A good number of well-spirited Imo pharmacists responded. We place on record our unreserved gratitude to them.
On a sad note, the remains of the late Pharm. Hon. Hilary Udumukwu (MD/CEO of L'Duty Pharm Chemists) was interred in his hometown, Eluama Abueke Ihitte Uboma on April 23, 2021. The PSN Imo State participated actively in both the burial and the Service of Songs which preceded the internment. May his soul rest in peace.
The PSN NEC held a Virtual Town Hall Meeting, the second in the series on 28th April and Imo pharmacists participated. So also, the Webinars by the ACPN national and AHAPN national on the World Malaria Day respectively.
We would like to note that the *link for registration* for the Mother of all Conferences, this year's PSN National Conference, Garden City2021 would go live in May. We encourage Imo pharmacists to register to attend this conference as it is an election year.
We thank all Imo pharmacists and urge them to stay safe and alive.
*Happy Workers' Day.*
God bless pharmacy profession.
