This day was designated in memory of the 19 August 2003 bomb attack on the Canal Hotel in Baghdad, Iraq, killing 22 people. In 2009, the United Nations General Assembly formalized the day as World Humanitarian Day (WHD).

Each year, WHD focuses on a theme, primarily to advocate for the survival, well-being and dignity of people affected by crises, and for the safety and security of aid workers. On this 19th August,2021, Crestcare Medical Diagnostic Center, Owerri, wishes our numerous customers, 'Happy Humanitarian Day!

This year, we highlight the immediate human cost of the climate crisis by pressuring world leaders to take meaningful climate action for the world’s most vulnerable people

It's interesting to note that human blood is made up of 4 components;
1.Plasma is the liquid portion of the blood, delivers nutrients to the cells of the various body organs.
2. Red Blood Cells, also known as erythrocytes,contain hemoglobin, carries oxygen from the lungs to all the body tissues and still carry carbon dioxide to the lungs, where it is excreted.
3. White Blood Cells, generated from the bone marrow, work like ‘’fire fighters’’ in the body. They defend the body against infection and disease by destroying possible infectious agents.
4. Platelets literally look like small plates when they are not active. Wherever an injury occurs, they get together as a cluster, growing long tentacles to make contact with the bleeding vessel to plug the wound until it heals. This is known as blood clotting.
Blood truly is the amazing fluid of life!
