Teeth discovered inside my O***y

Case...
"It was like a dream when I was told that teeth were found in my o***y. What business do human teeth have inside my reproductive organ if not the work of the enemy? At first, I thought it was a joke until the surgeon showed me what I perceived as real human teeth with some touch of human hairs🤦😔 inside my o***y😭 hmm.

Explanation.

✍️ the egg (in the o***y) that is released by a lady every month is derived from a group of cells called germ cells. These are cells that are responsible for the production of eggs in females and s***matozoa in males (although there is a little twist between the two). In a normal situation, they are committed only to this function of eggs and s***matogenesis

✍️However, these germ cells come from another cluster of cells, that have the ability to give rise to all body parts such as the skin, hairs, brain, teeth, glands muscles, bones, etc. every part of us is derived from this cluster of cells that is called Epiblast. Germ cells that give rise to the eggs come from epiblast.

✍️in certain abnormal situation, these germ cells that should traditionally produce eggs begin to function like 'their father' Epiblast (remember, it is derived from epiblast) and consequently start producing bones, cartilage, teeth, hairs and other body parts inside the o***y.

✍️this collection of tissues will cause swelling or cyst in the o***y, and can lead to abdominal pains. Any type of tissue can be found in that cyst.

This condition I explained is called cystic teratoma or dermoid cyst.

Surgery is needed and the mass is to be sent for histology. It's rarely malignant, and common within reproductive age (more in young women)

Bleeding in the nose - the intervention that went wrong

"When I woke up in the morning, there was blood in my nose (left part), a bunch had clotted, and only small was dripping down my nose. My grandma said I should blow the nose to remove all the bad blood 🤢 The moment I did, it appeared like a tap was opened. The bleeding was so serious...🩸🩸🩸that I was rushed to the hospital😭"

✍️Blowing the nose is one intervention that shouldn't be tried during nosebleed. It raises the pressure, which can dislodge the clots formed to stop blood loss. The body produces substances designed to reduce blood loss after injury to the blood vessels. This meshwork of proteins (fibrin) will form a clot around the site of injury and seal if off.

✍️Blowing the nose can also put pressure on the fragile blood vessels of the nose causing rupture or another injury.

✍️As much as possible, actions that increase pressured in the nose (vomiting, sneezing, blowing the nose etc) during nosebleeds should be avoided.

Bleeding🩸 in the nose; what you can do at home

It can be scary to see blood dripping down the nose. And Most cases of nose bleeds are mild and basic attention can stop the bleeding within 20 mins.

✍️Sit up and lean slightly forward.
✍️ Pinch and hold the soft part of the nose for 5 mins while the mouth is opened for breathing. You can still hold the nose up to 10mins.
✍️Application of Vaseline is needed if the nose is dry (which can be a cause...)
✍️icepack can be placed at the posterior aspect of the back or frontal part of the head

Lifting the head (upward) should be discouraged because it doesn't stop the bleeding. Blood will trickle backwards to the pharynx where it can be swallowed or enter the mouth. Swallowed blood can cause irritation in the stomach leading to vomiting (and this sort of pressure is what we don't need because it can make bleeding worse. The risk that the blood can enter the airway and cause aspiration pneumonia is there especially if the bleeding is massive.

If the bleeding persists, kindly go to the hospital

One twin disappeared in the womb

"I was initially happy it was a twin pregnancy. While I wished them to be two girls, my husband wanted them to be boys. But this joy didn't last long🥹. When I started having abdominal pains, I was ordered to do a scan again but this time, only one child was found 😩. No way 😭 what happened to the other twin? Is it possible that one twin ate the other twin? Evil eyes everywhere 😭 they have turned one of my baby in the womb into a killer"

Response

✍️Some pregnancies are lost naturally with no remedy especially during the early stage of pregnancies. As previously stated, these babies are products of errors that occured during their formation and by virtue of which they are not compatible with life. Miscarriage is nature's way of correcting such anomaly.

✍️If one of the twins had such an error that is incompatible with life, a miscarriage is very likely. It could mean that along the line, one twin was lost to miscarriage.

✍️ Abnormal development of the placenta can also contribute to the disappearance of a twin. If the placenta is fashioned in a way that it starves on twin of blood supply, the twin will definitely d1e and be resorbed by the mother.

✍️The older a pregnant woman is (>35 years) the greater the risk of genetic problems that will affect the development of the baby.

The disappearance of one twin in the womb is called Vanishing twin syndrome. Sometimes the remnant of the lost baby can be found plastered to the placenta (papyraceus twin). No be say the other twin chop em brother or sister. Your growing baby is not a k!ller.

Ovulation problem: having a monthly period doesn't automatically mean you ovulate 💫

"I've been having problems conceiving. I know I'm ovulating because I see my period every month"

Our response...
✍️Menstruation is that bleeding that occurs approximately 14 days after ovulation. If as a lady you release an egg today (ovulation), then in the next 14 days, you are likely to see a flow. This flow that occurs after ovulation is called menstruation. On the other hand, if as a lady your me**es start today, then note that you likely ovulated 14 days ago. The hormones (progesterone) produced by the egg released plays a key part in this bleeding as it's withdrawal promotes menstrual bleeding

✍️But in some cycles, ovulation doesn't occur possibly due to stress, hormonal problems, polycystic ovarian syndrome etc. In this situation, even as she couldn't release an egg 🥚 , she can still bleed. But this bleeding is not called menstruation because no egg was released, and progesterone was not involved in this bleeding. It can be termed abnormal uterine bleeding (or dysfunctional uterine bleeding).

Why is this important?
As a woman, you don't always ovulate every month. In the month in which ovulation didn't occur, you are not likely to get pregnant but you can still see a monthly flow. The chance of pregnancy is possible in the cycle in which ovulation occurs.

"She never see her me**es before, but she don carry bele 🫄"

How can I be pregnant when I haven't seen my period before? I'm just 12years old🥹

✍️One of the features of a female that shows the body's readiness for reproductive potential is puberty/menstruation. In most cases, when a girl starts to see her period 'newly', She can stay some months without ovulating, and no ovulation means she won't be pregnant despite seeing periodic flow.

⭐ Ideally speaking 'before she go menstruate, she suppose don ovulate like 2wks ago' ovulation precedes menstruation.

✍️However, in a rare situation, the first menstruation she would have experienced at 12 years was missed because it just happened coincidentally that she released an (like 2wks ago), which was fertilized 😩 by her partner. Unlike in most people where ovulation doesn't occur some months following the start of menstruation, her case was different.

✍️This is another testament that shows how our body system is slightly built different from one another.

Adolescent/child pregnancy can be frustrating and brings lots of psychosocial problems to the child and the family. Apart from the stigma and shame, the child's academic pursuit may be truncated and complications associated with such pregnancy is quite high. ,

The reasons why sëm€n leak out after s£ual relãtionshp

"Doc, anytime I pläy with my husbänd, all the things he puts inside my body leaks out, and that's the reason I can't conceive"

Answer
✍️not everything the man puts inside is needed for a woman to get prêgnant. In fact, it is natural for the sêm3n to leak out after s£ual relationship, because the fluid is not needed in the womb. And not all the s***matozoa are needed for conception (only a small fraction enters the w©mb, the rest are "pøurêd out")

The transporter

✍️The sêm3n is important in transporting and nourishing the sp3rm cells on their journey to the va3na. the fluid/sêm3m contains water, sp€rm cells, sugar and some other dissolved substances that are needed to keep the sp€rms alive.

✍️After the release into the va3na, the sêm€n also helps neutralise the acids in the Va3na so that the sp3rm cells can survive the acid environment of the va3na

The journey into the womb

✍️this is where it really gets interesting. A small fraction of the s***m cells (in the semen) deposited into the Va3na swim away from the sêm€n and enter the womb through the passage called cervix.

Take note📌 the sp€rm cells leave the things the man put inside (sêm€n) behind and enter the uterus. The uterus contains fluids that can support their movements and functions.

✍️So the function of the fluids in the semen ends in the Va3na. Therefore, the sêm€n should naturally leak out under gravity (when she stands up or changes position). Again, following the action of some proteins in the va3na, the fluids become thinner (more watery) thereby enhancing it's drainage from her body

✍️ "Womb no dey swallow sêm€m💫" inability to conceive can be caused by so many things which we are going to consider as we progress, but this leakage isn't the cause, because it is natural for sêm€n to "leak out" after such acts.

The pregnancy with grapes

After two months of pregnancy, she started to experience va3na bleeding. Suddenly, she discovered some tiny vesicles that looked like grapes. "What is this again na, why this baby dey stress me?" She knew at that point, something was wrong.

✍️On rare situation, the egg released by a woman is empty, there is no yolk inside, and when such an egg is fertilized by s***matozoa, baby won't be formed. For a baby to be formed, the mother's egg will contribute half of the information (genetic material) needed to make a baby, while the fathers s***matozoa also contributes the other half. It's like two separate factories needed to make one product (one from the mother and the other from the father).

✍️In this condition in which the egg is empty (no mother's genetic information, Chromosome), there will be problems in such pregnancy as only the fathers gene cannot make a baby. Consequently, no fetal parts are present. The placenta (developed from the fathers gene) will also show some abnormalities producing grape-like cysts and vesicles, which can be passed out via the va3ina. This pregnancy is abnormal, and leads to uterine bleeding.

✍️Other things that can be seen are: the womb may be larger than the actual age of the pregnancy. There may be excessive vomiting during pregnancy. The blood pressure may also be high preeclampsia); yeah, as you noticed, everything seems abnormal.

⭐ What I've described is COMPLETE MOLAR PREGNANCY

✍️This type of complicated pregnancy is to be evacuated and products sent for histology. Keep to the doctor's advice to do repeated HCG so we will be sure it's not cancerous (choriocarcinoma); and during this follow up period, don't be pregnant.

Don't shy away from looking at the content of a vaginal bleeding, it is important as it can give you a clue about a health condition.

Miscarriage can mean good

A lot of people especially the ladies feel bad when they experience a miscarriage of a pregnancy they planned and wanted. But today, let's look into it because you may be surprised.

✍️The commonest cause of miscarriage during early stage of pregnancy is chromosomal abnormality. These are developmental problems in the babies that are not compatible with life. imagine a baby without hands, legs, head, heart etc. How do you think these babies would survive. Nature has a way of cleansing itself and ensures that such babies are not born but lost in the form of a miscarriage

✍️ Imbecile (down syndrome) should always remind us of this kind of babies. Nobody wants to give birth to a child with mental retardation. They are among the categories of babies that are lost during the first three months, but due to certain circumstances, they remain and were delivered. These babies have mental retardation, hypotonia and can have clusters of so many other health problems like holes in the heart, recurrent chest infection, hearing loss, speech problems, seizure disorders and so on🤦

✍️some severe forms of low back deformity can increase the child's mobidity and mortality and makes life difficult for the baby to survive

✍️Errors during the development of a baby can create a child that is not compatible with life and nature can chose to correct it via a miscarriage.

How does okra affect s***m production in men?

doctor, my husband said I shouldn't prepare okra soup again. That his friend, a health practitioner, told him that it may be responsible for low s***m count; we have been looking for a child for sometime now. What is this?

Okra is one of the most common vegetables in our environment. The popular 'okra soup' is a delicacy many enjoy and together with 'ogbono' constitute the famous African dish "draw soup"😋😋

How is okra linked to male infertility?

It was discovered that okra contains a substance called Gossypol, which some researchers believe can reduce s***m production and slow the movement (motility) of the s***m cells. This substance (Gossypol) is abundant in the seeds of okra. These studies shows that excess consumption of okra can lead to infertility in men.

Is okra that toxic to the body?

Okra is a vegetable 🍆 that is rich in vitamins, and contains high fibres. Vitamin C (that is found in okra) is an antioxidant that reduces the accumulation of toxins in the cells. This enhances cellular regeneration and slows the aging process. Okra by its fibre content promotes movements of the guts, which can reduce the risk of gastrointestinal cancers like colon cancer. The nutrients in okra are important in building a healthy body.

The crux

There is no consensus yet that okra causes infertility in men. Most men who have plenty children in a given african society enjoyed the delicacy of okra soup (dem born plenty even called some "nwo bu eze🤣). However, as medicine is ever evolving with great interest in genetics, a lot has been known about our unique identity (genes) and health conditions. Research has made us understand human nature better that what is normal for some persons, may not be normal for another. We have this uniqueness that each of us can be treated as a separate entity away from the other.

Twin pregnancy, do I have a chance?

So she said "I pray to God every day to have twins. I love them so much🤗" Despite the challenges of nursing twins, a lot of people love to have them. Although the rate at which twin pregnancy occurs varies from place to place, on average it occurs in 3 out of 100 pregnancies.

Do I stand a chance to have twins?

Well, being a Nigerian gives you a greater chance of having a twin pregnancy than many other countries especially if you are from the western part of Nigeria. A town in Nigeria has the greatest number of twins in the world. So, you have a chance 😄

If there is a history of twins in your family especially from your mother's side. Maybe you are a twin, your mum gave birth to twins, your grandparents had twins, your siblings, aunt... You have an increased chance of a twin pregnancy.🤗

Although after 35 years, the potential that a woman will conceive starts to fall. However, after this age, the chances that multiple eggs would be released at a time is higher. (And you know with multiple eggs released, the probability of multiple pregnancies are high)

If you are undergoing treatment for infertility, the chances that you may have multiple pregnancy is higher. Some of the drugs given can make a woman release more than one egg increasing the chance of twin (or multiple) pregnancy.

Most cases of in vitro fertilization leads to multiple pregnancies because more than one egg is transferred into the womb of the woman.

The style that broke his pen!s

It was one Sunday morning around 2 am, he was rushed to the hospital, shouting of pains in the pen!s; "my blokos ooh", help me, my blokos" on examination, the peñ!s was swollen at one end and bent downward. The skin around the tip has changed in colour. 🤦
