We glorify God by doing good deeds as the light of the world and salt of the earth. We provide free non-urgent telehealth consults, professional counselling/therapy sessions and diet/weight management classes. With the help of our sponsors, volunteers and partners, we organize health awareness and advocacy campaigns, health talks, outreaches, missions and health seminars in both urban and rural areas, for communities, companies, churches and various organizations. We believe that it is always better to prevent than to cure, and it is always better to consult the right health professionals early before it's late. Named after Victoria Oyiya Nsa(nee Brown), one of the most successful businesswomen to come out of Port Harcourt in her time. An Ibani-speaking Ijaw and indigene of Grand Bonny in the Niger Delta region of Southern Nigeria. Victoria Oyiya was born on 9th February 1929 in Bonny to the Brown family and Bristol-Alagbariya Royal family(founders of grand Bonny Kingdom). By marriage she was also related to the Igbos of South East Nigeria and the Efik of Cross River. She was her mother's only child after losing her only brother at a very early age. As a young woman, she also had multiple early pregnancy miscarriages. This informed her passion for healthcare. She formed the first women’s cooperative organization in her community in Finima. She was a foremost feminist and advocated for women’s rights. As a famous businesswoman, caterer and hotelier, she established the first Port Harcourt Airport Hotel and a chain of hotels. She had serviced apartments under the name VEN Hotels in old Port Harcourt. She was also a politician and contested for Local Government chairmanship in the 2nd Republic on the platform of the Social Democratic Party(SDP) which had Chief MKO Abiola as a presidential aspirant. She won many awards, including the Young Women’s Christian Association(YWCA) Lifetime Award post-humously. All these she was able to achieve without completing formal education. She died due to complications of Diabetes Mellitus on the 2nd of April,1996. Lack of basic first aid and health knowledge amongst sub-Saharan Africans continues to be a major issue which has led to significant morbidity and mortality.

Many schools lack basic first aid boxes or bags, even where it is present there is a lack of basic tools. Many years ago most schools would typically have a sick bay, but it is no longer the case in many schools.

We continue to see people suddenly fainting or collapsing and bystanders not knowing what to do and thus resorting to dangerous means including pouring water, putting spoon in their mouth, etc.

At VOHF, we are committed to making a change in society, especially in Africa and not just standing by and complaining or talking. Hence we held this outreach where we donated a first aid bag with first aid items to a primary and secondary school in Northern Nigeria.

Children are the most vulnerable as they play aggressively everyday, thus first aid skills should be a must for all teachers and child caregivers. The children as well are not too young to learn the signs of a problem or how to avoid danger and know when to call for help.

VOHF Nasarawa State committed as ever to its mandate of making a change to the health consciousness of people of the State as well as the African man at large, embarked on this one day outreach in this Northern Nigerian State with our partners.

We will continue to save the lives of our people by health awareness and health education, because it is far better and cheaper to prevent than to treat because in some cases there is even no cure or it is far out of reach or expensive.

We call on organizations and governments at all levels to make first aid & CPR kits and knowledge mandatory, readily available and accessible as is in most advanced and developing countries.

Please join this movement and help us in spreading this message, as you will be saving a life somewhere without even knowing it.

“Catching Them Young”

Nigerians and a lot of people in sub-Saharan Africa lack basic knowledge on what to do in emergent health situations. This significantly contributes to morbidity and mortality. No better way to start making the change and changing the poor health seeking mindset than to start from the leaders of tomorrow.

This led us to organize an Outreach in Northern Nigeria to Teach Children in Nasarawa State about Basic First Aid, illness and Injury Prevention in collaboration with Benzone Foundation.
