Something happened when I went to visit my aunt.

Last time, I shared how coconut was one of my triggers, unknown to me, I was about getting another shocker.

When I got to my aunt's house, I found these tiger nuts, and I ate a lot. Like a lot. I didn't know I was about having a tragedic night😭

Then, midnight came. My whole body changed. I started to cough and breathing heavily. I coughed till my ribs started to ache.

Luckily, my aunt had this cough syrup she gives her children. She gave it to me. After a while, I was able to calm down till morning before heading to the hospital.

That was how I discovered my second trigger. I then found out that anything that has to do with "nuts" triggers me.

How did you find out your trigger? Share with us in the comment section

Early warning signs of an asthma attack most people ignore. Attacks rarely come suddenly. The body usually gives signals.

For me, once I start scratching my chin, that's a sign. Then, I'll have to act fast.

Some other signals people have include:
Increased inhaler use
Trouble sleeping
Short breath during normal activities

Does your own body give you any form of signal?

Asthma actually is beyond wheezing.

MYTH: If you’re not wheezing, you’re not having an asthma issue.

Truth:Some of the most dangerous asthma symptoms are silent.

When I was about 9 years old, I took coconut a lot because I really liked it. But then, I found out that each time I took coconut, I couldn't help but start breathing fast, and start coughing profusely. My family thought it was because I took the coconut in excess, not knowing asthma was building up.

Each time I took coconut, the same symptom repeated. So, I treated the cough instead of checking for the root cause. But then, the cough won't go away. It reappears after some days. I didn't know I had asthma and my allergy/ trigger happens to be coconut.

Because of the persistent cough I was having, I stopped eating coconut. For a while, the cough went away and reappeared when I became 21

What food or habit did you later realize was your trigger?

What we eat can influence how we breathe. Let’s talk about food!!!

Certain meals, especially very spicy or fried foods, may cause slight inflammation or acid reflux which can worsen asthma symptoms for some people.
Not everyone reacts the same way, so the key is to observe how your body responds.

Which of these affects your breathing more?

đŸ€”Spicy food

😎Fried food

Have you noticed your breathing changes more in cold or dry weather?
Cold and dry air can tighten the airways, making breathing slightly harder for some people.
This is why many experience increased coughing or wheezing during certain seasons, in air-conditioned rooms, or early in the morning. Temperature and air humidity play a big role in how well we breathe.

To support your breathing:

Stay warm

Drink warm fluids
Avoid sudden temperature changes

Fragrances can be beautiful. But not for everyone.

Perfumes, scented candles, air fresheners, room sprays, and even some cleaning products contain chemicals that may irritate the airways.
If you or someone around you begins to cough, sneeze, or feel tightness after exposure to strong scents, it might be a sensitivity sign.

Strong fragrances can trigger asthma symptoms in sensitive individuals.

Which one affects you the most?
A) Perfume
B) Air Freshener
C) Cleaning Products
