Tell us what you think of this speech mad by the director general of World Health Organization

WHO Director-General, Dr Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, has made a statement today regarding the situation unfolding in the Middle East ⬇️

β€œI am deeply troubled by the situation unfolding today across the Middle East.

My heart goes out to the civilians trapped in the crossfire.

Regardless of borders, everyone deserves to live without the threat of violence around them.

Today, we urge leaders to choose the challenging path of dialogue over the senseless route of destruction.

The world is watching and hoping for wisdom to prevail over weapons.

Peace is the best medicine.”

πŸ₯ *Attacks on health care in Ukraine rose by 20% in 2025*

⚠️ As the war enters its 5th year, health care facilities, workers and patients continue to come under fire. Since February 2022, WHO has verified 2,881 attacks on health care, killing 233 people and injuring 930.

πŸ’₯ In 2025 alone, attacks intensified, with 184 attacks in just one quarter, leaving hospitals damaged and supply chains disrupted.

*The human toll is staggering:*

πŸ’” 72% of people report anxiety or depression
❀️ 1 in 4 has dangerously high blood pressure
πŸ’Š 4 in 5 struggle to access medicines
❄️ Millions have faced winter without heat or electricity

WHO reached 1.9 million people in 2025 with medical supplies, evacuations and support, and installed 284 generators to keep hospitals running.

πŸ™πŸΌ Health care must never be a target.

β€œI was not vaccinated until the age of 23,” writes Elisabeth Marnik, an immunologist. β€œLearning why my mother didn’t vaccinate me, and then choosing to vaccinate myself, has led me on a lifelong journey in understanding how love and fear intertwine and what it really takes for people to change their minds.”

πŸ’ͺObesity is a complex health condition, not just a matter of willpower. It is also largely preventable and manageable with the right support.

*Prevention starts early:*

πŸ‘Ά During pregnancy: healthy weight gain supports long-term child health.

🍼 In infancy: exclusive breastfeeding for the first 6 months helps reduce future risk.

πŸƒ In childhood: encourage daily movement, balanced diet and good sleep habits.

*For adults, prevention includes:*

🧁 Limit fats and sugars
πŸ₯— Eat more vegetables and fruit
🚰 Drink enough water
πŸšΆβ€β™€οΈ Regular physical activity (any is better than none!)
πŸ“΅ Limit screen time
πŸ›Œ Get enough sleep

As young children explore their surroundings, they often put objects in their mouths - turning everyday items into potential choking hazards. It's important parents and caregivers are aware as choking is one of the leading causes of injury and death among young children, especially those under five.

Fortunately, choking is largely preventable. By making a few changes at home and learning safe practices, you can greatly reduce your little one’s risk.

πŸ‘οΈβœ¨ A 15-minute surgery can restore sight β€” but millions are still waiting.

πŸ‘€ Cataracts β€” a clouding of the eye’s lens β€” affect 94 million people worldwide and remain a leading cause of avoidable blindness. Yet nearly half of people who are blind from cataract still don’t have access to surgery.

πŸ™Œ Cataract surgery is simple, safe and highly cost-effective β€” often taking just 15 minutes and restoring vision almost immediately.

πŸ“ˆ Progress is happening, with global coverage increasing by 15% over the past two decades. But it’s not fast enough. To meet global targets by 2030, countries must accelerate action.

⚠️ In Africa, 3 in 4 people who need surgery remain untreated. Women are also less likely than men to receive care.

*What’s needed:*

πŸ”ΉVision screening in primary health care
πŸ”ΉMore trained eye specialists
πŸ”ΉAffordable access, especially in rural areas

Restoring sight means restoring independence, dignity and opportunity. Let’s make avoidable blindness a thing of the past.

β€œHey moms, a little fever or tiredness after booster shots is normal and usually goes away in 1–2 days πŸ€’πŸ’€. Keep them hydrated and comfy πŸ’§πŸ›οΈ. If fever lasts over 3 days or they seem very unwell, see a doctor πŸ‘©β€βš•οΈπŸ₯. For fever over a week, doctors may do tests like CBC, malaria test, blood culture, urine test, or chest X-ray πŸ§ͺπŸ”¬. Vaccines are safeβ€”no need to panic, just watch and care for your kids with love ❀️ ”

😊 Here’s a quick remedy sheet for soothing kids after shots:

- *Distraction works wonders:* Bring their favorite toy, sing a song, or watch a shortπŸŽοΈπŸšœπŸš•πŸš“ cartoon right after the shot. Keeps their mind off the ouch!
- *Cold compress:* A cool, damp cloth on the injection site helps reduce swelling and pain.🎈🌟🌟
- *Gentle massage:* Lightly rubbing the area can ease soreness (but don’t press hard).πŸ™πŸ™
πŸ₯›πŸ₯€πŸ§‰
- *Plenty of fluids & rest:* Keep them hydrated and let them chill, maybe with some extra cuddles.πŸ₯°πŸ₯°
- *Pain reliever:* If they’re uncomfortable, paracetamol (as per doctor’s dose) can help.πŸ‘Œ

Trachoma an enemy of vision, an enemy of sight and an enemy of human nature. Thanks to lybian government. πŸ‘‡πŸ‘‡

Trachoma β€” a blinding disease that has been in the country for over 100 years β€” has officially been eliminated as a public health problem.

This isn’t just a medical milestone. It’s a testament to extraordinary resilience.

Years of political instability. Humanitarian crises. Strained health systems. Displaced populations. Pressure on the most basic necessities: clean water, sanitation, hygiene.

And still, Libya eliminated the disease πŸ’ͺ

In 2023, an estimated 260 000 women died from maternal causes globally.

Around 6 in 10 of those deaths (160 000) occurred in countries experiencing conflict or institutional and social fragility.
An estimation from WHO.

Be careful when lifting or pulling a young child by their arms.

Nursemaid’s elbow (also called pulled elbow) happens when a sudden tug, jerk, stretch, or swing causes one of the bones in the elbow to slip out of place. It’s common in toddlers because their joints are still developing and more fragile.

Even a playful swing or quick pull to stop a fall can cause it β€” so always lift children from under their arms instead of by their hands or wrists.
