🔎When Standing Alone Hurts the Cause 🧑🏾‍⚕️⚖️

Recently, a video surfaced showing a Nigerian nurse being berated for not joining a nationwide strike. While some celebrities praised her loyalty to duty with one even offering ₦500k as a reward, this situation opens up deeper issues we can’t ignore as healthcare professionals.

🧠 Let’s be clear: Nurses in Nigeria are severely underpaid, overworked, and frequently disregarded. Strikes are not just walkouts, they are desperate cries for better conditions, fair pay, and respect. When one of us refuses to join, it weakens our collective voice. It gives room for authorities to continue ignoring our struggles.

💔 While compassion and dedication to patients are commendable, undermining a unified action only delays the change we all desperately need. This isn’t about "bad behavior", it’s about understanding the power of unity and the cost of individualism in a broken system.

🙅🏾‍♀️ Rewarding such actions sends a confusing message: "Sacrifice your wellbeing and ignore your rights, and maybe someone will applaud you." That’s not sustainable, and it’s not the kind of recognition we should aspire to.

👩🏾‍⚕️ Nurses deserve more than handouts. We deserve systemic change, fair pay, safe working environments, and respect from the government and the public alike.

Let’s stay united. Our silence or division is the very weapon used against us.

WORLD HEPATITIS DAY — July 28
🦠 “Hepatitis: Let’s Break It Down”

Have you ever tested for hepatitis???
As your nurse friend, I’m here to remind you: hepatitis is real and often silent. Some types have no symptoms until serious liver damage has already happened!

💉 Have you ever done your hepatitis test?
✅ Yes? Great job — stay informed!
❌ No? Please don’t wait any longer — early testing saves lives.

🧠 What is Hepatitis?
Hepatitis means inflammation of the liver. It can be caused by viruses (A to E), alcohol, drugs, or autoimmune conditions.

🔍 Types of Viral Hepatitis:
✅ Hepatitis A – Spread through contaminated food/water. Preventable by good hygiene and vaccine. Usually self-limiting.
✅ Hepatitis B – Spread via blood, s*x, or mother-to-child. Can become chronic. Vaccine-preventable.
✅ Hepatitis C – Spread through blood contact. Often silent, but curable with treatment. No vaccine yet.
✅ Hepatitis D – Only occurs in people already infected with hepatitis B. More severe.
✅ Hepatitis E – Spread through contaminated water. Common in areas with poor sanitation. Dangerous in pregnancy.

📌 My Advice to You as a Nurse:
🧪 Get tested — especially for hepatitis B and C.
💉 Complete your hepatitis B vaccination.
🧼 Maintain proper hand hygiene and avoid unclean food/water.
👉Use safe practices: avoid sharing sharp objects, and insist on sterile equipment.
🤰 Pregnant women should screen for hepatitis — protect your baby too!

✨ You may not feel sick, but hepatitis can be hiding silently.
This World Hepatitis Day, let’s protect our livers and our lives.

💬 Comment below: “✅ Tested” or “❓ I need more info” and I’ll reply!

🛑 Say No to Harmful Practices! 🛑

How can a mother give alcohol to a newborn just so she can sleep at night? 💔
This is not only dangerous but life-threatening! Babies are delicate, and their bodies cannot process alcohol. Giving alcohol to a baby can cause brain damage, breathing difficulties, coma, or even death.

We understand motherhood can be exhausting, but there are safer ways to soothe your baby. Please, ask for help. Speak up. Let’s protect our children from harmful traditions and ignorance.

Every baby deserves love, safety, and care — not shortcuts.
