THE TYRANNICAL MINDSET: WHY SOME PEOPLE REJECT TRANSFORMATION

Why is it that most of us get so Allied with what we already know ?
it has gotten to the stage were become closed off to anything new.

What you don't know is that when you hold on 100% to your what you know without confronting the unknown, you'll pay a price, and that is you'll end up trying to force your way on others, because deep down, you're afraid of facing what you don’t yet understand.
That fear turns into control.

But real growth doesn’t happen in the comfort zone

Transformation occurs when you stand with one foot in what is familiar (predictable) and the other in the unknown

Be secure enough to act, but open enough to evolve.

That balance is where security(assurance) meets growth
confidence grows, creativity blooms, and life begins to shift in your favour.

If you want true change, loosen your grip.
Stay rooted, but stay open.
Your next level requires both courage and flexibility.

WE ARE THE ONES DOING OURSELVES, OUR ACTIONS DETERMINES OUR HEALTH

Good evening
I want to talk about the constant interaction that occurs between we HUMANS AND OUR ENVIRONMENT and how it influences the state of our health

First of all, picture this
When we get sick, maybe malaria, we go to the doctor. The doctor treats us, gives us the medication, and we start feeling better. But then, we go back to the same place where the malaria came from, the same environment where mosquitoes breed. And just like that, the cycle begins again.
We often focus on treatment, cure without thinking about the root cause or how to prevent it. But the truth is, our health is closely tied to our environment

Walk with me 😌🫴

The environment around us that is the physical, biological and social environment plays a major role in the shaping of our wellbeing. While some aspects of the environment provide essentials for our survival like food, air, water etc, most of them pose a potential threat on our health.
But one thing is certain, this interaction is reciprocal, this is to say, the environment profoundly influences us, we at the same time influence the environment through extensively altering it to suit our needs.
This continuous interaction ultimately determines our overall health at any given time.

Soo, how does the environment influences our health ?
The environment influences our health in several ways:

1. PHYSICAL ENVIRONMENT:
The air we breathe, the water we drink, the quality of our housing, and the level of sanitation of all can affect our health
for example polluted air can lead to respiratory disease while clean water is good for our health

2. BIOLOGICAL ENVIRONMENT:
This are things like viruses, bacteria, plants and animals in our surroundings,
While exposure to microorganisms can cause diseases, a clean, healthy biological environment supports a good wellbeing.

3. SOCIAL ENVIRONMENT:
Our cultures, traditions, communities, peers( those our🫵 friends ), and the economy also contributes to our health
Supportive peers, social networks promotes good health,
While that our🫵 toxic relationships, highly demanding traditions can pose a real threat to our health.

These factors, whether acting separately or combined can influence our health.
So it's for us to decide, whether it influences our health positively or negatively.

You see,
When the environment is healthy, we are also healthy
When it is polluted or unsafe, na still we go suffer
So as we go about our daily activities, let us remember that by protecting our environment, we are indirectly protecting ourselves

From the lens of PUBLIC HEALTH

Good evening

So, today I attended a conference that was truly life changing and impactful. I learnt valuable lessons that will help me grow financially, physically, and mentally, also met new minds that could share in my interests.
I couldn’t have missed it for anything.
For the first time, this event came to Calabar and I’m happy I was a part of it.

5 SIMPLE MORNING HABITS TO HELP LOWER YOUR BLOOD PRESSURE

Starting your day with healthy routines can set the tone for your blood pressure and overall heart health. Here are five powerful habits you can try:

1. WAKING UP AT THE SAME TIME EVERY DAY

Keeping a regular sleep schedule helps your body regulate blood pressure. Adults should aim for 7–9 hours of sleep. Create a cool, calm, tech-free bedroom for better rest.

2. EAT A HEART-HEALTHY BREAKFAST

Swap heavy, salty foods for the DASH diet style:
1. Fruits & veggies
2. Whole grains
3. Low-fat dairy
4. Lean proteins (fish, poultry, legumes)
This fuels your body without stressing your heart.

3. START THE DAY WITH EXERCISE

Whether it’s a 30-minute walk or short 10-min sessions, morning exercise can lower blood pressure, boost your mood, and energize your day. Bonus: nature walks can give an extra calming effect.

4. START STRESS-FREE

Stress hormones like cortisol can raise your BP. Take 5–10 minutes to:
1. Meditate
2. Stretch
3. Journal
Even simple deep breathing can calm your system and protect your heart.

5. STICK TO YOUR PLAN

If your doctor prescribed medication or home BP checks, be consistent. Following your management plan ensures long-term control and fewer complications.
your healthcare provider may have given you some recommendations for managing your blood pressure, such as taking medication or checking your blood pressure at home:

Check your blood pressure at home: Some experts recommend checking your blood pressure first thing in the morning, after using the bathroom, but before the rest of your morning activities (e.g., drinking coffee, taking medication, etc.). No matter what, it's important to pick a consistent time each day to check your blood pressure

VACCINES: What You Need to Know

Vaccines are safe, effective, and life-saving — tested in rigorous clinical trials before approval and continuously monitored for safety.

EFFICACY VS. EFFECTIVENESS

Efficacy → How well a vaccine works in controlled trials (e.g., 80% efficacy = 80% lower risk in the vaccinated group).

Effectiveness → How well it works in real-world conditions, which can vary slightly from trials.

HOW PROTECTION WORKS

Some vaccines need 1 dose, others require a series of doses for full immunity.
Boosters may be needed to maintain protection over time, over time, your immunity from the first vaccine doses can fade

Boosters “recharge” your immune system so it stays ready to fight disease.
They extend and strengthen your protection, especially against severe illness.
Recommended when evidence shows protection is dropping or when new variants are spreading.

Think of boosters as giving your immune system a refresher course — so it never forgets the enemy.

⚠ BREAKTHROUGH INFECTIONS
Rarely, vaccinated people can still get sick, but symptoms are usually milder and hospitalizations are uncommon.

VARIANTS
Viruses can change. WHO monitors variants and updates vaccine recommendations to ensure maximum protection.

TAKE AWAY: Stay up to date with your vaccines — they’re one of our strongest tools against disease.

💙 FAMILY PLANNING: YOUR HEALTH, YOUR CHOICE

Family planning means deciding when and how many children to have — using safe and effective methods.
It’s not just about health — it also supports education, gender equality, and economic stability.

WHY IT MATTERS:

1. Prevents unwanted pregnancies and reduces health risks.

2. Only condoms protect against both pregnancy and STIs (including HIV).

3. Helps women focus education and careers.

YOUR OPTIONS:

1. Most effective: Implants, IUDs, sterilization.

2. Effective if used correctly: Pills, injections, patches, vaginal rings.

3. Dual protection: Condoms.

4. Less reliable: Withdrawal, fertility awareness method

FACT: Contraceptives do NOT cause infertility.

TAKEAWAY: Family planning saves lives, protects health, and gives you the power to plan your future

LET’S TALK ABOUT HIV🦠 – WHAT EVERYONE SHOULD KNOW 💬

HIV ISN’T a death sentence—it’s just a virus that attacks your immune system (your body’s security team ).
But guess what? With the right treatments (called ART), you can live your best life — strong, and healthy

THINGS YOU SHOULD KNOW:

1. HIV is a virus that weakens your body’s defense (immune) system.
2. You CANNOT catch it by hugging, kissing, or sharing food.
3. It spreads through blood, semen, vaginal fluids, breast milk, or from a mother to her baby.
4. Many people don’t feel sick at first — so it’s important to get tested early.
5. There's no cure, but with daily treatment (ART) anti retroviral Therapy, people with HIV can live long and healthy lives.

GOOD NEWS:
If someone takes their medicine regularly and has no virus in their blood, they can’t spread HIV to other

HOW TO PREVENT THE VIRUS😁:

1. Always use a condom during s*x

2. Get tested regularly

3. Don’t share sharp objects or needles

4. Take medicine (PrEP or PEP) if you're at high risk

5. Make sure blood for transfusion is tested and safe

Stay informed
🎯 Let’s stop HIV together, Get tested, Get treated. Stay protected.

🩺 HIGH BLOOD PRESSURE: THE SILENT TROUBLE MAKER 😵

It gives no warning, but causes plenty wahala!

You may feel fine, but high blood pressure (a.k.a. the silent killer) could be slowly damaging your body without you knowing.
No symptoms. No drama. Just quiet destruction. 😳

THE ONLY CLUE? A BLOOD PRESSURE CHECK!

If you’re not checking, you’re just guessing.
And when it finally shows signs, it might be too late

🚨 IF YOU IGNORE IT... HERE'S WHAT CAN HAPPEN:

1. Heart Disease – Your heart works too hard and might give up.

3. Vision Loss – Damage to your eyes over time,
4. Memory Trouble – Trouble focusing or remembering things.
5. Kidney Damage – Can lead to kidney failure.

💥 WHAT CAUSES HIGH BLOOD PRESSURE?

1. Sitting too much

2. Eating too much salty foods

3. Skipping exercise like it’s a chore

4. Carrying too much weight 🏋️‍♂️

5. Too much stress, worry, and wahala

4. Chill – manage that stress 😌
5. Maintain a healthy weight

Let’s stop this silent killer before it stops us.

Your health isn’t a guessing game.
Don’t wait for a sign – go get checked!

Drop a ❤️ if you’ve had your BP checked this year.
Let’s protect our hearts, Naija-style 💪🏽🇳🇬

💥 YOUR BODY IS NOT A STATUE — MOVE IT! 🕺🏾

Let's be real — your body wasn't made to just sit, scroll, and snack. It was made to MOVE... and when you move, your health wins big time!

HERE'S WHAT PHYSICAL ACTIVITY DOES FOR YOU:

1. Boosts your brain – sharper focus, better memory
2. Improves your sleep – because your body actually gets tired
3. Strengthens muscles & bones
4. Reduces your risk of heart attack and stroke
5. Fights off diabetes and high BP
6. Protects against weak bones and scary falls
7. Reduces stress, anxiety & depression – like a natural mood lifter
8. Even helps prevent some types of cancer! (Yes, really.)

OR ARE YOU TRYING TO LOSE WEIGHT?

Movement burns calories = fat goes away.
More movement = more calories burnt.
Simple as that. BUT the real trick?
You lose weight by eating smarter… and keep it off by moving more.

So don't just sit there like jollof rice on a plate 🍚.
Even small moves make a big difference.
1. Walk,
2. Stretch,
3. Dance,
4. Clean,
5. Run
JUST DO SOMETHING!

🚨 WARNING: THAT SWELLING ON THE NECK ISN'T DECORATION– IT COULD BE GOITER! (A HIDDEN ISSUE IN NIGERIA)

1. You're using salt, but is it iodized?🧂
2. Your kids are eating, but are they getting enough iodine?
3. You feel tired, your neck looks swollen – and you're ignoring it?

That’s how goiter gets in quietly.

💥 LET’S BREAK IT DOWN :

In some Nigerian communities, 23 out of every 100 children already have swollen thyroid glands (even if you can't see it).

Women are the biggest victims – especially between ages 30–49

And yes… it’s still happening despite iodized salt being available!

💡 GOITER IS NOT JUST A BIG LUMP – IT'S A BIG DEAL.

It can cause:

1. Fatigue 😴

2. Difficulty swallowing or breathing 😮

3. And long-term thyroid problems if ignored 😬

HOW DO YOU PROTECT YOURSELF AND YOUR FAMILY?

1. Use iodized salt ONLY (check the label, no shortcuts!)

2. Eat iodine-rich foods: fish, eggs, milk, seaweed

3. If you see a swelling on your neck or someone else’s – go for. checkup fast. Don’t wait for it to grow.

🙋‍♀️ Have you seen goiter in your community before?
What did they do about it?
