A5 Sickle Cell Support Initiative Secures Health Insurance Coverage for SCD Patients in Yobe State.

The A5 Sickle Cell Support Initiative has recorded another significant milestone in its mission to improve the quality of life of people living with Sickle Cell Disease (SCD), as some patients under its database have been successfully enrolled into the Yobe State Contributory Health Care Management Agency through the Basic Health Care Provision Fund (BHCPF).

This development marks a major step forward in ensuring that vulnerable SCD patients gain access to affordable and sustainable healthcare services.

Through this enrollment, beneficiaries can now receive essential medical care, including consultations, medications, laboratory investigations, and other basic health services, with reduced financial burden.

Sickle Cell Disease remains a major public health challenge, with many patients struggling to afford routine care and emergency treatments.

The intervention by A5 Sickle Cell Support Initiative bridges this gap by linking patients to government supported health insurance schemes designed to protect the most vulnerable members of society.

Speaking on the achievement, Aliyu Bakama, Executive Director of A5 Sickle Cell Support Initiative, described the enrollment as a life changing opportunity for beneficiaries as some beneficiaries collected their card today in our head office in Potiskum, Yobe State, Nigeria.
