MAFARA NURSES AND OTHERS HEALTH PERSONNEL S COMMEMORATE WORLD HEPATITIS DAY

A group of young Nigerian Nurses & others health personnel s under the aegis of MAHDA convened at the traditional ruler's palace in Talata Mafara area of Zamfara State to commemorate the 2018 world Hepatitis day.

According to the National coordinator of the group and convener of the program - Aminat Badaru Hamza - "World Hepatitis Day, observed on July 28 every year, aims to raise global awareness of hepatitis - as a group of infectious diseases known as Hepatitis A, B, C, D, and E - and to encourage prevention, diagnosis and treatment."

Badaru continues that; Viral hepatitis is an international public health challenge, comparable to other major communicable diseases, such as HIV, tuberculosis and malaria.
Unfortunately, viral hepatitis receives lesser attention and largely ignored as a global health and development priority.

Nonetheless, with the coming of goal 3 target 3 (ie G3:T3) of the United Nations Sustainable Development Agenda, viral hepatitis will never be a hidden disease anymore, and no one will ignorantly suffer for this deadly disease again. She concluded!

The commemoration which took place at the Galadima's palace in T/Mafara was organized in conjunction with the General Hospital, Talata Mafara. In addition to free-hepatitis testing for hundreds of participants, it also features public lecture and sensitization awareness.
