**THE LORD IS MINDFUL OF ME*
*Text :Mark 4:38*
In the midst of trails, hurdles and challenges, the sight of God might become faint for some people. In the midst of pestilence like Covid19, many may be drawn away from God. Many would ask "God where are you?" Many would conclude that God does not exist. And still like the disciples in the midst of storm, many would ask " Teacher, do you not care that we are perishing?" (Mk 4:38). On the contrary, the LORD cares and He is mindful of me. Note the following:
1. In Mark's account of the Synoptics, the disciples were quivered with fear in the midst of ravaging storm. It looks like God is not at sight, else why should we be facing this form of storm. Therefore, they asked "Teacher, do you not care that we are perishing?" In their minds, as it is in the minds of many today- "the LORD is sleeping". In the midst of Covid19, some of us might feel the LORD is asleep. Our challenges sometimes seems to cloud our sense of rationality not to see God in such a situation. But contrary to our sense of judgement, the LORD is in the midst of our trials, hurdles and challenges no matter how great it might be. He never sleeps or slumbers. You know why? Because He is mindful of us. The LORD rose up and said "peace, be still!"
2. Secondly, the three Hebrew men (Shadrach, Meshach and Abed-Nego) were cast into the fiery furnace according to Daniel chapter 3. At the climax of the event, something spectacular is recorded in verses 24 and 25. I don't think these three men saw the fourth person, but Nebuchadnezzar did, hence, his astonishment:
Then King Nebuchadnezzar was astonished; and he rose in haste and spoke, saying to his counselors, “Did we not cast three men bound into the midst of the fire?” They answered and said to the king, “True, O king.” “Look!” he answered, “I see four men loose, walking in the midst of the fire; and they are not hurt, and the form of the fourth is like the Son of God.”
(Daniel 3:24-25 NKJV). You might be faced with a situation that is more devastating than Covid19, but note one thing, that the LORD is mindful of you. You might not see that second person in the midst of your situation, but He is there. Those who would see you coming out of that situation stronger and better, will acknowledge that God is: "Therefore I make a decree that any people, nation, or language which speaks anything amiss against the God of Shadrach, Meshach, and Abed-Nego shall be cut in pieces, and their houses shall be made an ash heap; because there is no other God who can deliver like this.”
(Daniel 3:29 NKJV). Your business might be shaking due to Covid19, you might not know where to turn to for the next meal, your salary may have been slashed by more than 50%, you might be at the brink of losing your job, health complications might develop in the midst of all these things. Note one thing-this too shall pass away! This is so because the LORD is mindful of me.
PRAYER: Blessed and ever living Father, thank you for the grace of seeing another day of the lockdown. Much more than our grief and sorrow and much more than adversity, you are mindful of us. May you bless us over and over again for we know you are the God of the living. Forgive our shortcomings, heal our lands and grant onto us your grace through this day and beyond in Jesus name,Amen.
