*Psalm 38: This is my humble prayer (2)*

Psalm 38:21-22 Do not forsake me O God, O my God be not far from me. Make haste to help me, O Lord my salvation.

In times of emergency, there is nothing to be compared to a hasteful aid. That moment when you needed help so desperately and suddenly the help comes to you. This is such a valuable help that cannot be measured. A moment can change alot in life. A moment can save a life and a moment can lead to a loss of life when the help is delayed. Many people are losing countless opportunities just because their help and helpers came late. I have seen people die in accident and shipwreck. In most cases, they did not die because of the impacts of the accident, but due to the delay in their rescue. Before they could get to the nearest medical centre, they gave up.

I have seen many people lose life changing opportunities due to delay. Before they could access their recommendations, the opportunity was lost. Just like the paralytic that was described in the New Testament. For 38 years he couldn't get into the pool of healing just because the helpers were always late. He would say, before he could get into the pool, others that were aided hastily have entered into the pool. It was this delay that kept him at the pool of Bethesda for a long period of years.

In the case of David, there was a time he almost lost his life. David and his men went down to fight against the Philistines. In the course of the war, Ishbenob, a Philistine giant cornered David, and David became exhausted in the middle of the fight. He fainted before his enemy, making him vulnerable and at the mercy of his enemy. As the giant was about to take the life of David with his new sword, Abishai came hastily to the scene and killed the giant. If not for the timely intervention of Abishai, David would have either lost his life that day or captured as a slave to the Philistines. The help that he needed the most came to him at the right time and place in his life.

As you pray each day, don't forget to ask the Lord to come hastily to your aid in the time of trouble. The Psalmist declares: Do not forsake me O God, O my God be not far from me. Make haste to help me, O Lord my salvation. In times of sicknesses and diseases, ask the Lord to come hastily with his healings. In times of attacks and persecution, ask the Lord to come hastily with his deliverance. In times of lack, scarcity and poverty ask the Lord to come hastily with his blessings. May our help locate us while we needed the help the most. May our help never come when it is too late. Amen.

*Prayer:* Precious Father, send your help to me in the middle of my emergency. Don't allow me to groan in vain. Make haste to help me and shame all those who want to be helpless in this life and beyond. Locate me with your supernatural eyes and help me with your powerful arms. Let your help come to me instantly. Thank You Father, Amen.

*Psalm 38: This is my humble prayer*

Psalm 38:21-22 Do not forsake me O God, O my God be not far from me. Make haste to help me, O Lord my salvation.

Friends, anything that is forsaken will suffer adversity and continuous struggle, and ultimately will experience a disastrous ending. An egg forsaken by the mother hen will never hatch to life. When a mother bird abandons her young chick, they become food for the hawks. When a farmer abandons his young seedlings, they become outgrown with thorns and thistles. When a driver takes his hands off the wheel, an accident is imminent. When a sailor takes his hands off the sail, the ship looses it direction and ultimately capsizes. When God takes his hands off your life, the calamity of life happens.

Anything that is forsaken will never experience a healthy life. We must cry out to God daily - do not forsake me, don't even be far from me. Samson never knew that he has been abandoned. He wanted to launch out as before. But the story became different. You must constantly have this spiritual update about the presence of God in your life. In all humility, always ask God to continually stay with you. If God forsook you for a moment, you might not live to the tell the story. Remember, anything that is forsaken will struggle till death, even if they manage to survive, they will never be healthy.

The Psalmist a*o cried out, O Lord, do not be far from me. When someone is close to you, he can easily notice your struggle and pain. When you are kept at a distance, you will be isolated away from life. Many people can't be heard because they have been kept far away from their access. James the Apostle declared: draw near to God and He will draw near to you. There are immense benefits in intimacy. Those who live under the bossom of the Father are constantly in touch with the Father's provision. Anything that is placed far away from it's source of sustenance will continually live in struggle and deficiency, experience an unhealthy growth and eventually, withers and dies.

Father, do not forsake nor abandon me and my family. Do not even be far from me. This prayer should not be taken for granted in all our endeavors in life. As a learner, seek God's assistance. As a boss, you need God's assistance. When God decides to abandon you for just a second, the enemy can do something that will require a lifetime to recover from. This is why the Keeper of Israel never sleeps nor slumber. He is constantly taking care of what is committed unto His care. May the hands of Grace uphold you in every area of your life. May the eyes of God be fixated intently upon you and your family. You will never be abandoned or taken away beyond the reach of God.

*Prayer:* I call you my Father, I call you my God. Please Lord, never ever forsake me nor abandon me. Don't even be far from me. Let me always see you close in all conditions of my life. Let see you when I am happy. Let me see you when I am sad. Make haste Lord to reach out to save me before it is too late. Don't allow my enemy to triumph over me. Thank you Father, In Jesus name amen.

*Psalm 38: Evil Opposition*

Psalm 38:20 They repay me evil for good and oppose me for pursuing good.

The only person that will not experience opposition is the person that is doing nothing. Once you start making progress, you will always come to face with opposition. Don't allow opposition and opposing forces to distract you. It is only a sign that you are making progressive efforts. This is the challenge that most good natured people face in life. They will always think that the fact that they are planning good deeds will make the process cool and easy. But what they don't realize early is that it is not everybody that loves good things. Most people will just decide to oppose your good intentions just to prove to you that you cannot do it.

There are many forces that oppose good intentions. It was one of the lessons that I learnt in my pastoral work. As a Pastor, I learnt how to design activities that will be of immense benefits to the community. But I have also discovered that the greater the plans, the greater the opposition. At times, the opposition can come in subtle manipulation, such that it would make doubt if this was really the ideal thing. Sometimes, the opposition can come in direct and fierce confrontation. The one that is most disturbing, is the confrontation that comes in the form of silence.

When you examine the life of David, you will discover that he suffered opposition from people that would have been the ones pushing him forward. David was a man that has the heart of God. He was very persuasive about doing good. In his good heart, he willingly engaged in the fight against Goliath just to deliver Saul and Israel out of the oppression of the Philistines. Yet, he was greatly opposed by Saul and his soldiers. As if that was not enough, he suffered opposition from some of his Children who rebelled openly against him.

Opposition will always come. We must brace up ourselves to push forward in the face of opposition. Every sailor must learn how to breast the waves and redirect the course of the ship in the direction of the storm. If you can muster your opposition, it will be of great advantage to you. Opposition will help you avoid some pit falls in life. Always see the enemy's opposition like a break pad. When the acceleration is getting too fast, it takes the break to avoid a crash. What the enemies designed to limit you, God will turn it into a lifesaver for you. Amen.

*Prayer:* Precious Father, don't allow the evil opposition of my enemies to frustrate my life. Grant me the divine enablement to rise above the forces of opposition that are millitating against me. Deliver me from subtle opposition, confrontational opposition and silent opposition. With God on my side, no storm of opposition will terminate my course. Thank You Father, Amen.

*Psalm 38: Hated For No Cause*

Psalm 38:19 I have many aggressive enemies; they hate me without rea*on.

I am yet to see a man without enemies and haters. The greatest delusion one can suffer is for him to think that he is loved by everybody. No matter how good, lovely, benevolent and philanthropic you are, there are still haters and enemies that are scheming actively against you. Trying to please and appease everyone does not prevent them from hating you. There is absolutely anything one can do that will satisfy your haters. If you walk on water, you hater will mock you that you can't even swim. If you fly in the air, your hater will conclude that you are a wizard of destruction.

I have come to discover that there is an innate inclination to most forms of hatreds. People hate for no just cause. Their very first contact with you gives them the implication of hatred. I have seen new born babies suffer from mysterious attacks. The basic question is, what is their offense? What wrong has this young life committed against anybody? Even in their innocence and ignorance, they are already being hated. At birth, Jesus suffered a gruesome hatred from Herod. The hatred was so intense such that Herod was desperate to eliminate all the babies within his age range. It took an Angel from the Lord to redirect the path of Joseph and Mary out of Judea in order for Jesus to be safe.

More so, if there is anybody on earth who should not be hated, the person should be Jesus Christ. He lived a life that was impactful an helpful to others. He was full of sympathy and empathy. On different occasions, he fed the multitudes to overflowing rations. He healed the sick and performed many miracles to restore people back to their feet. He went as far as restoring the dead back to life. Yet, he suffered from the hatred of his enemies. His hatred was so intense such that every good thing that he did for humanity, was used to mock him. The haters said to him: you saved others but you cannot save yourself.

The Psalmist declared: I have many aggressive enemies; they hate me without rea*on. The fact that Saul could hate David and planned to kill him, is hatred without a cause. David risked his life to kill Goliath so that the kingship of Saul and his lineage would be preserved. But it turned out that it was Saul who was desperately in search for an opportunity to kill David. When people hate you, stop looking for the rea*on. Haters will always hate because that is their nature. Don't try to impress your haters. They will never be satisfied. All those who hate you will never triumph over you. God will keep you safe from their enterprise of hatred. Amen.

*Prayer:* Precious Father, keep me safe from the hands of those who hate me. Do not allow the aggression of my haters to come near my household. When my haters wish me evil, don't allow the evil to manifest. When all those who hate me without a cause try to oppose me, don't let their efforts come into reality. Prepare my table before me in the presence of my haters. Thank You Father, Amen.

*Psalm 38: The Power of Repentance (3)*

Psalm 38:17-18 I am on the verge of collapse, facing constant pain. But I confess my sins; I am deeply sorry for what I have done.

Repentance is not just a message to be preached, it is action that must be demonstrated. For repentance to show forth it's powers, it must be lived out. It is one action that every believer must exhibit whenever they are prone to offense. The story of Jacob and Esau ended on a note of reconciliation. This was possible because Jacob made up his mind to repent and seek his brother's forgiveness. Also, the story of Joseph and his brothers ended on a note of forgiveness and repentance. Joseph reunited with his family. His brothers became remorseful over the ill treatment and hardship that they had given to him.

The children of Israel after their return from the exile repented of their sins and turned a new way of life. After Judas has betrayed Jesus, he did everything within him to repent, by returning the money back to the Scribes and eventually committing su***de due to the pain of guilt. After the ill treatment that was given to Paul and Silas, the Jailer repented and took care of them before the left the city. When Paul wrote to Philemon concerning Onesimus, it was redacted on his repentance. Onesimus was an unfaithful steward to Philemon which severed their relationship and contract. After encountering Paul, he showed genuine repentance and Paul mediated his reunion with his master.

The Psalmist declared that: He was at the verge of collapse and facing constant pains. Many relationships and marriages are crashing and experiencing pain due to lack of repentance. Many people are losing their jobs and contract just because they refused to repent of their toxic attitudes. Today, let this devotional call you to an active repentance. You want peace in your marriage, show repentance to your spouse. You want health in your family, show repentance to your parents, children and siblings. You want prosperity in your endeavours, show repentance to your boss, colleagues and partners.

Repentance is an act of humility that implies that we value ourselves and togetherness more than anything else. It is in our repentance that our value system is established. Where there is repentance, God's power for wholeness is always available. Remember, the Bible has declared: Then if my people who are called by my name will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, I will hear from heaven and will forgive their sins and restore their land (2Chron 7:14). Take your step towards the path of repentance today and watch bitterness and its associated complications depart from your life. Shalom.

*Reflection:* Are you still finding a justifiable rea*on why you should not be deeply sorry about what you have done to others? Are you having a hard time fighting the pain that lack of repentance has caused in your life? This is the acceptable time. This is the day of repentance. Put the devil to shame. Take a step of repentance today. May you find peace, joy and restoration. Thank You Father, Amen.

*Psalm 38: The Power of Repentance (2)*

Psalm 38:17-18 I am on the verge of collapse, facing constant pain. But I confess my sins; I am deeply sorry for what I have done.

Many people don't know how to show repentance. This is very common experience among believers. There are many believers who will engage in long fastings and prayers over a matter that requires genuine repentance. Instead of showing remorse over an event that is hurtful, they will prefer to quote Bible passages to justify their errors. This is very common among Christian couples and Pastors. Whenever you see a Christian couple having a lingering fight, just know that either of them who is the offender will rather choose to go to hell than to accept his error and show remorse. Have you ever tried to resolve an issue between two pastors? You will eventually run out of all your counselling skills without meeting the expected end.

Sin eats out the essence of our souls. It kills healthy relationship and causes loneliness. It inflicts a torture on the soul that sinned. When there is unrepented sin in one's life, there is every tendency that it will haunt the conscience. This is why the guilt consciousness of the sin will begin to manifest in the life of the individual. Haven't you observed that whenever someone is living actively in sin, when such person passes through a strange attack, the primal suspecting factor will be linked to the sin. This is because, there is a general belief that an unconfessed sin, will always bring dire consequences on the sinner. No wonder the popular adage that says: your sins will find you out.

The Bible does not encourage anyone to continue in sin but it encourages us to confess our faults to one another that we may be healed. The Psalmist declared that he is deeply sorry for what he has done. In other words, he regretted every sinful acts that he has done and he has turned away from it. This was the beginning point of his healing and restoration. If he had kept on justifying all his actions and giving rea*ons why he is right, he would have kept on experiencing severe pain until he collapses and loses everything in life.

Today, if you have are still experiencing a troubled heart because of what you have done against your spouse, colleague, neighbor, relative and siblings, confess your fault and make it sincere. If you are experiencing a collapse in your life with troubled heart and soul due to your sin against God, look upon the cross of Christ Jesus, confess your sins and obtain your forgiveness. Stop making excuses for your repentance. Stop looking for an appropriate time and place to seek for repentance. A repentance that us delayed will inflict pain on the soul. Show your repentance now because your restoration and revival depends on it. Shalom.

*Prayer:* Precious Father, I acknowledge my sins before you and my fellow humans. Grant me the forgiveness that I seek. Let my heart be sober for the sins that I have done. Whenever your Holy Spirit quickens my conscience, grant me the grace for repentance. May I not walk in the error of justifying my sins instead of renouncing it. Thank you Father, Amen.

*Psalm 38: The Power of Repentance*

Psalm 38:17-18 I am on the verge of collapse, facing constant pain. But I confess my sins; I am deeply sorry for what I have done.

Living in sin and wickedness is often associated with pain and trauma. Most wicked people always suffer from panic attacks, emotional drain and sickness of the heart. The ripple effect of their wickedness is always seen, when their evil backfires against them. Medically speaking, there are many diseases that cannot be cured with orthodox and modern medical approaches. It can only be cured by a change in lifestyle. Many people are dying in their evil and wicked ways due to their kickback effects. Some are running from one herbal home to another sorcerer, seeking for solutions to their broken life.

The Bible gave us an account of a lost son who decided to follow the pressure and pleasure of this world. Initially, he enjoyed the gains by living a riotus lifestyle. Because he has no fear of God and respect for parents, he lived an uncontrollable life. Sooner than he could ever imagine, the ripple effect started kicking back at him. He lost everything that made him human and started thinking about the lowlife. He saw himself getting filled with the pigs ration. His life collapsed without any hope of a possible rebound.

The interesting part about his story was the fact that he understood the power of repentance. This was how the Bible recorded his repentance speech: “When he finally came to his senses, he said to himself, ‘At home even the hired servants have food enough to spare, and here I am dying of hunger! I will go home to my father and say, “Father, I have sinned against both heaven and you, and I am no longer worthy of being called your son. Please take me on as a hired servant. “So he returned home to his father. And while he was still a long way off, his father saw him coming. Filled with love and compassion, he ran to his son, embraced him, and kissed him. His son said to him, ‘Father, I have sinned against both heaven and you, and I am no longer worthy of being called your son (Luke 15:17-21).

The story ended with his Father's acceptance and a welcome party was arranged to celebrate his homecoming. Repentance brings healing and restoration. The kind of repentance that attracts healing is not the one that comes from the mouth. Genuine repentance comes from the heart and it is seen in the way of life. To err and offend God and man is human, but it takes genuine repentance to renew and restore such relationship. Repentance begins with our confession in humility and ends with a change in our attitude. Seek genuine repentance from those you have offended today. God will heal and restore your wholly. Shalom.

*Prayer:* Precious Father, I acknowledge my sins before you. I am not perfect neither are my thoughts completely pure. I have sinned against You and your words. I have also offended others. Today, I repent of my sins and seek deeply for your forgiveness. Blessed is the man whose sins are forgiven, whose transgressions are remembered no more. Let that man be me. Thank You Father, Amen.

*Psalm 38: Keep Me From Falling (2)*

Psalm 38:16 I prayed, “Don’t let my enemies gloat over me or rejoice at my downfall.”

One of the popular festivals that is celebrated in the Christian calendar is the Easter celebration. This is a very special moment for Christians worldwide because it represents the fulfillment of all that God has promised for humanity. Easter celebration is very rich in Christian history and culture. The birth of Jesus was the beginning point of the expression of God's revelation for mankind. Jesus lived on earth and demonstrated the authority that the Father has bestowed upon him. At the climax of his earthly ministry, was God's ultimate plan for his crucifixion and resurrection which is now celebrated as Easter.

Whenever we celebrate Easter, we will misunderstand the context if we do not remember the events of Good Friday. Jesus was betrayed by one of his own disciples, sold off for some pieces of silver, an amount that was used to trade-off a slave. He was tried and sentenced to death through crucifixion, a form of death that is full of shame, pain and ridicule. He was buried, which confirmed the end of everything about his life. After his burial, Satan and his agents gloated and rejoiced over him. The shame and the reproach was so great such that his disciples went into hiding. Because nobody has risen out from the grave by himself, it was concluded that Jesus was dead and gone forever.

The enemies never knew that what happened on Good Friday was a divine set up for what will happen on Easter day. After three days in the grave, the Bible recorded that an Angel of the Lord came down from heaven. There was a mighty earthquake. The soldiers that were assigned to man the grave were all knocked down and out. The Angel rolled the stone away and sat on it. Jesus majestically and triumphantly marched out of the grave, appeared before his disciples and finally ascended back to the glories of the heavens. His resurrection cut off the gloatings and rejoicing from the pit of hell.

The Psalmist prayed to the Lord: I prayed, “Don’t let my enemies gloat over me or rejoice at my downfall.” This should also be our prayer and heart desires for today. Maybe right now, someone is already laughing at you because of a betrayal. Maybe you are being mocked because the judges of the world have condemned you. Maybe you are being gloated at because you are on the cross. Maybe you are being scorned at because you are in the ground. When the enemies gloated Jesus, they never knew Easter was coming. Your turnaround encounter is here. Your Easter will silence their rejoicing in Jesus' name, Amen.

*Prayer:* Precious Father, I anticipate this day a supernatural turnaround encounter in my story. Anywhere that I have fallen, that has now become a tool of gloating by the enemies, let a resurrection happen in my life. The power to bounce back from every downfall, let it rest upon my live. My enemies will never rejoice over me and my family. Thank You Father, Amen.

*Psalm 38: Keep Me From Falling*

Psalm 38:16 I prayed, “Don’t let my enemies gloat over me or rejoice at my downfall.”

If the Lord opened your eyes to see the number of persons that are eagerly waiting for your downfall, so that they would have an opportunity to laugh at you, then you will pray earnestly to the Lord to keep you from falling and failing in life. When I was an undergraduate student, I remembered the day they released one of our semester results. I saw mine and I did very well. But my close friends couldn't get a pass score. So, I felt sore bad such that you won't even notice the joy of my success. Someone came to the scene and saw my sober countenance and concluded in his heart that I wasn't successful. He broke the news to his gangs with such joy and banter that I didn't pass the exam. Their mockery made me realize that they have been anticipating my failure. But they were sincerely wrong.

I have also seen a shocking experience where a young lady who has been single all her life was mocking and rejoicing over her neighbour who has returned home due to her failed marriage. I couldn't express my feelings because the mockery and jubilation were appearing like an imagination to me. The only word that kept re-echoeing in my heart was that, if only this woman knew that her failed marriage would bring such joy to her enemy, she would have done everything within her to keep and protect her marriage from failing.

Friends, we must be very vigilant and guard against downfall and failures. There are many people who cannot attempt what you are doing but they are eagerly waiting for you to fail and fall. There are many people who have not seen the walls of an educational institution but they are waiting to hear that you have failed and dropped out of school. There are many people who cannot maintain and sustain a relationship but they are eagerly waiting for your successful marriage to fail and fall. Their are many jobless men and women who are waiting for your investment to crash.

I have discovered one attitude of many people towards clergies. No matter how disciplined and anointed you are as a clergy, there are many people who can't wait to hear a scandal about you, just to ridicule you and your works. The Lord, who is your keeper and lifter, will never let your fall. All those who are waiting to mock and scorn you will wait in vain. Today, keep walking with the Lord. Let the Lord hold you firmly in all your endeavours. Your enemies will never gloat or rejoice over you. This will be your testimony in Jesus name, Amen.

*Confession:* I declare boldly that my enemies will never gloat or rejoice over me. Where they expect my failure, the Lord will project my success. Where they project my disappointment, the Lord will announce my appointment. Where they anticipate my falling downward, the Lord will lift me upward. Where they plan to mock me, the Lord will turn it into my congratulations. Thank You Father. Hallelujah.

*Psalm 38: My Weapon of Silence*

Psalm 38:13-14 But I, like a deaf man, do not hear; And I am like a mute who does not open his mouth. Thus I am like a man who does not hear, And in whose mouth is no response.

Have you ever been tempted to talk and the hardest decision you took was to remain silent? Have you ever found yourself in a situation where you have so much to say but you choose to remain silent? These are the moments in your life where silence became your greatest arsenal against your enemies. A wise man knows the value of spoken words and the power of unspoken words. These two are very important in the pursuit of a victorious christian life. I have grown to discover that silence is the best response given to a fool. If you choose to always bark back at every barking dog, you will end up being a dog.

Jesus lived and exercised his authority in every aspect of his ministry. He was bold in his teachings. He taught in the synagogues such that the people and the leaders exclaimed at his depth of wisdom and authority in proclaiming the gospel. He was bold in entering into the sacred places of the Temples. He was bold and confrontational especially to the Scribes, Pharisees and Sadducees. He openly rebuked them and their hypocrisies in his teachings. Yet, when he was arrested and presented before the rulers to be tried, he did not utter a word. He upheld the power of silence.

The greatest wisdom we must exemplify in life is to know when to speak and when to be silent. Silence is a weapon that the enemy cannot unravel. Many people have exposed their secrets because they did not know when to be silent. Many people have used their own words to put themselves into satanic captivity because they didn't understand the power of silence. Many people are living in regrets today because they decided to speak when they were supposed to be silent. This is why we need the Holy Spirit to guide and guard our lips in all our utterances. There are many regrets people make just immediately after speaking.

The Psalmist declares: But I, like a deaf man, do not hear; And I am like a mute who does not open his mouth. Thus I am like a man who does not hear, And in whose mouth is no response. Don't allow your enemies to use your words against you. Don't fall into the traps that have been set by your enemies. There are many traps that the enemies have designed against you. All that they need is the words of your mouth to trigger the effects. Be wise. Confuse and disappoint them with your silence. May the Lord grant you the wisdom to discern moment of speaking and moment of silence in Jesus name, Amen.

*Prayer:* Precious Father, teach me to be still when stillness is all I need for my victory. Deliver me from every traps that has been designed to ensnare m through my words. Help me to live above any regrets that is associated with spoken words. Through silence, teach me a new way to be victorious. Thank You Father, Amen.
