*Psalm 36: The Wickedness of Man (4)*

Psalm 36:4 He devises wickedness on his bed; He sets himself in a way that is not good; He does not abhor evil.

The act of wickedness is a science. I was a teenager when I discovered this philosophy. I used to watch my favourite cartoon titled "Tom and Jerry." This cartoon is full of thrills and hilarious scenes. There is also an aspect of the cartoon the requires violence and acts of wickedness. Though it is very amusing and interesting to watch, one key thing that keeps striking my mind, is that, this animation was designed in the heart and mind of someone. Which implies that the mind of the writer, producer and director of this cartoon must have been programmed on the science of wickedness and violence. Hence, it was perfectly produced to reveal their intents.

A wicked man is actively engaged in the science of wickedness. The Psalmist declares that such a person devises wickedness on his bed. When others are sleeping or having their rest, the wicked man is busy designing new scientific inventions of wickedness in his mind. When others are dreaming and having visions on their beds, the wicked man is busy dreaming and catching visions about methods of executing wickedness. Whenever a wicked man is on his bed, his mind is preoccupied and occupied by thoughts, deep imaginations and meditations on the science of wickedness.

Another important significance about the bed, is that it is a place of reflection and evaluation. When the righteous is having a review about his life and walk with God on his bed, the wicked is busy reviewing the acts of wickedness that did not satisfy his desired specifications. One early morning, I observed a rancour in the neighborhood. Everyone rushed to the scene to see what was happening. It was a man who moved down from a far away place to unleash acts of terror and wickedness on a widow. The shocking part of the episode was the fact that the man had tortured the widow the previous day. He came back the next morning and said to her that, last night after reviewing what he did to her, he wasn't satisfied. So he came to fulfill what he had actually designed to do to her.

There are many wicked men and women who are still nursing and rehearsing their acts of wickedness against the righteous on their bed. There are many wicked people who are still regretting on their beds that they have not satisfied their acts of wickedness that they have designed against you. The Lord will not allow their wicked devices to come to pass in your life. Whoever that is defying the night to nurse intents of wickedness against you shall remain sleepless. May the wicked remain sleep deprived and may their devices of wickedness on their beds remain in futility. Amen.

*Prayer:* Precious Father, you know those who have refused to sleep because they are inventing new acts of wickedness against me. Let the devices of the wickedness of the wicked, consume the wicked. Your word has affirmed that surely they will gather, but whosoever shall gather for my sake, shall surely fall. Whosoever designs wickedness against me on their beds shall surely fall. Thank You Father, Amen.

*Psalm 36: The Wickedness of Man (3)*

Psalms 36:3 The words of his mouth are wickedness and deceit; He has ceased to be wise and to do good.

As we keep progressing in our meditation on Psalm 36, the key emphasis is on the wickedness of man. It has been established that the wickedness of man begins with an absence of the fear of God. Then, a wicked man becomes blind to his acts of wickedness. The Psalmist, in today's passage established additional markers of wickedness in man. The utterances of a wicked man is full of wickedness. Out of the abundance of the heart, the mouth speaks. In the multitudes of wicked imaginations and meditations, a wicked man will speak words that are full of hatred, violence and wickedness.

Apart from the words of wickedness, out of the mouth of the wicked comes words of deceits and manipulations. A wicked man is full of cheat and craftiness. With deceitful words, he lures the vulnerable ones into wreckage. He makes gains from deeds that are birthed in deceits. In his blinded heart, he justifies his wicked gains by attributing it to his smartness. There are so many shows and displays of acts of deceitful wickedness everywhere. If you scam a fellow to make selfish gains, then you are wicked. If you have to sweet-tongue a fellow to rip them of their resources and trust, then you are wicked.

The Psalmist also declared that a wicked man cannot be wise and cannot do good. The moment the seed of wickedness has taken over the heart of man, he has lost his sense of wisdom and the act of being good. Many people will engage on evil process and deeds, after that, they will become big philanthropist. They think that their acts of doing good to the society will cover their wicked deeds. What they fail to realize is that, the root of evil will produce fruits of evil. Whenever a wicked man is engaging in anything that appears to be "good" just know that it is also a bait for a greater act of wickedness.

Examine your words today - are they full of wickedness, hate speeches and violence? Examine your heart today - is it free from manipulation, cheat and deceits? Examine your benevolence services to humanity - is it rooted in proceeds of wickedness? A wicked man cannot please God. A wicked heart cannot offer God's sacrifice. God is still interested in the miracle of transforming the stony heart into a heart of flesh. Don't allow the seed of wickedness to take root in your hearts. May the Lord grant us a repentant heart from the ways and acts of wickedness into righteousness in Jesus' name, Amen.

*Prayer:* Precious Father, change my words, let it be peace-filled and inspiring to the hearers. Change my heart, let it be free from any act and imagination of cheats and deceits. Let my acts of benevolence be rooted in righteousness alone. Deliver me from benevolence that are accompanied with ulterior motives. Thank You Father, Amen.

*Psalm 36: The Wickedness of Man (2)*

Psalm 36:2 In their blind conceit, they cannot see how wicked they really are.

Whenever you see someone who has accepted an awkward way of life as his or her identity, just know that they have settled for wickedness. This is also my position when people choose to promote same s*x unions. Wherever they wrap up their argument with "this is whom I am," I conclude that they have become blinded by their conceits and there is nothing more they are willing to do about it. Living with a branded identity of wickedness destroys the very fabrics of any sane society and the Christian's faith. When you act in conceits, it might begin as tender as possible, but it will definitely grow and get you addicted to such conceits, and makes it a way of life for you.

I have seen some wicked conceits grown into full acts of wickedness without any remorse. There are many girls who used to sneak out unnoticed just to engage in immorality. Even when you confront them with your suspicion about them, they will deny it to your face. Today, they have become big time prostitutes who ruin people's marriages and they see it as a normal thing. The negative impact of being wicked is that it has the influencing powers to blindfold the perpetrators such that they can no longer know how really wicked they are. At this stage, wickedness is now seen as a resort for entertainment and relaxation.

It bewilders me whenever I see or hear people make boastful remarks about their acts of wickedness. There are some statements that some people will make that will indicate a high profiled act of wickedness but unfortunately they won't even see it as wicked. There are many believers who are guilty of this. Whenever someone draws your attention to any act that projects or represents wickedness, in the spirit of humility one should learn to refrain from it repentfully, than trying to justify it. We must by all means avoid flattering in our eyes especially when we are living in iniquity because it will destroy our desire for genuine repentance.

When you have a justifiable reason to support any immoral act or wickedness that is perpetrated by you, then you have become blinded by your own conceits. When you no longer see stealing as stealing, then you are blinded by conceit. When you can confidently talk about your immoral ways of living, then you have become blinded by conceit. When you see wicked acts as a natural course or part of one's nature, then you have been blinded by conceit. O child of God, don't ever find an explanation to support or justify a wicked claim. It is the subtle way of the serpent in getting Eve to eat the restricted fruit. It can blindfold your mind and make you wicked. Be guided. Shalom.

*Prayer:* Precious Father, open my eyes to always identify the conceits of wickedness. Save me from subtle acts of wickedness that can ruin my future without my knowledge. Whenever I am blinded by wickedness, grant me a teachable spirit to find my steps back to what is right. May I not be consumed by wickedness. Thank You Father, Amen.

*Psalm 36: The Wickedness of Man (1)*

Psalm 36:1 Sin whispers to the wicked, deep within their hearts. They have no fear of God at all.

Psalm 36 is a meditation of David on the wickedness of man and the perfection of God. The very first marker we will establish about man's wickedness is that it is produced when there is no fear for God. Infact the Psalmist declares that there is no fear of God at all. There are two categories of man's wickedness. There is the wickedness of the heathen, that is, these are people who don't know God, nor regard God or walk in the fear of God. There is also the wickedness of the believers, that is, those who are born again, Holy Spirit filled, tongues speaking brethren, but have become too familiar with God that they no longer fear God.

Growing up in the 80s and 90s I experienced a generation that feared God not only in words but in deeds. Back then, if someone provoked you within the perimeters of a church, you dare not respond with an insult or fight within the premises of the Church because of the fear of God. If you forgot your wallet or valuables within the church, you are coming back to meet it intact either where you left it, or by the altar. You dare not come close to baptismal class if you are unwilling to be born again, nor approach the communion table when your heart is full of guilt. The moment the Pastor will say: The Lord is in His Holy Temple, let the earth keep silent before Him, you can probably hear the sound of a pin due to dead silence of the Church.

Today, there is no longer fear of God at all. People curse, quarrel, fight and use vulgar words right inside the Church. During prayers these days, you have to be vigilant with your eyes wide opened because you can finish your prayers just to discover that your phones, wallet, jewellery or handbag are raptured. People even steal directly from offering plates. If the Lord should open your eyes to see the immorality that is going on right inside the Church during worship hours, you will be amazed. People even come to church to display some acts of violence, blood spilling and massacre. They have no fear of God at all.

Don't allow your subtle acts of wickedness turn you against God. In the Church today, especially among brethren, there are diverse kinds of wickedness. When you try to correct a brother or sister in line with the scriptures, they will also respond with another scripture just to justify their wickedness. The more you keep justifying any of your wicked deeds, the more you erode your fear of God. Remember, wickedness begins when there is no longer fear for God. Look intently into your hearts and acts today. Does your action portray a fear of God? If not, ask the Holy Spirit to birth in you a conscience that is guided by the fear of God. May the Lord inspire His fear in your heart in Jesus' name, Amen.

*Prayer:* Precious Father, in a generation where people no longer fear you, inspire and instill your fear in me. I know your word says I should come boldly into your presence, let your fear teach me to kneel and bow at your presence. Let wickedness be far from me. Let the imaginations of wickedness be erased from my heart. Teach me to live each day under your watch. Thank You Father, Amen.

*Psalm 35: All Day Long (2)*

Psalm 35:28 And my tongue shall speak of Your righteousness And of Your praise all the day long.

It is really a heartbreaking experience when we spend bulk of our time on grumbling and murmurings especially when our wishes and aspirations have not yet manifested as we have desired. Whenever we grumble and murmur, we forget the whole lots that we have immensely benefitted from God, especially those ones we were not even qualified for. This was one of the greatest acts of rebellion that the Israelites pulled up against God in the wilderness. Just because they needed water and found a bitter source of water, they expressed their disatisfaction to God in an ungrateful manner.

At several instances we encountered the Israelites with these attitudes. When they came before the Red Sea, they complained and murmured bitterly as if their redemption plan was evil. When they were in the wilderness, they complained about food, craving for the cucumber, watermelon and garlic of Egypt. When they had manna, they complained. When there was no water, they murmured and grumbled defiantly against Moses and the Lord. They grumbled all day long in groups as if the Lord has planned with Moses to bring them out of Egypt, to be destroyed in the wilderness. They suddenly forgot that their exodus from Egypt was the divine answer to their prayers and wailings.

There was a couple who was having issues in their family. One day, they met with a counsellor. The counsellor asked the woman to narrate her ordeal. For more than two hours, she kept spewing out her disatisfaction, with rumbling, grumbling and murmurings. Infact, all day long she focused only on what she wasn't enjoying. As she was pouring out herself, her husband was getting depressed because, in his simple heart he is caring so much for his wife, for her to still have an all day long murmuring. This is because she choose to set her mind on all those things that are not working for her. Focus will create blindness. When you focus on murmuring you will become blind to the good you have enjoyed.

The Psalmist says: "And my tongue shall speak of Your righteousness And of Your praise all the day long." This simply implies that, when I choose to speak about God, I will declare boldly about what He is doing rightly in my life. If I choose to focus only on what the Lord has done and is still doing in my life, I will go all day long with an offering of praise. Don't let that delay spoil your all day long praise. Don't give room to murmuring and grumbling. It cannot change anything. Infact it complicates the situation. Switch to an all day long praise. Everything will come together and be in place for you. Shalom.

*Prayer:* Precious Father, I choose to focus on your righteousness alone. I will magnify what you have done and still doing in my life. All day long, my lips shall utter your praise and my heart shall meditate on your goodness. I will not murmur and grumble against you O benevolent Father. I will never be ungrateful to You O Lord. Thank You Father, Amen.

*Psalm 35: All Day Long*

Psalm 35:28 And my tongue shall speak of Your righteousness And of Your praise all the day long.

The earlier one learns that God is not indebted to him, the healthier would be his relationship with God. Many people think that because they have received scriptural and revelational promises from God, it implies that God is now indebted to them. So when the promise is delayed and has not yet completely manifested, they tend to pull up some attitudes before God. I have seen men display a kind of rebellion and resentment against God just because their perceived expectations did not come to pass. I have seen many bear some grudges against God such that they abandoned their fellowship with Him and with the brethren.

In every stage of our discipleship, we must learn that we owe God everything and we can never repay it all not even with our lives, because God is still the owner of our lives. So, whenever we bear a grunt or grudge against God, we are of all men the most ingrate. It is an act of sheer ingratitude to rise early in the morning without acknowledging God in praise, but engaging in murmuring, bitterness and grumbling against the Holy One. I have seen many people rise up early with loads of complains in their mouths and hearts. I have seen many people grumble and rumble all day long.

The Psalmist was a man of mixed emotions. One moment, he feels the joy and blessedness of being a righteous man, then the next moment he is faced with accusations, betrayals and threats. He is torn between praise and sorrow, joy and heaviness of heart. Yet, in today's Psalm, he declared: "And my tongue shall speak of Your righteousness And of Your praise all the day long." The Psalmist was predetermined on where to pitch his tents. He has already decided that no matter what he faced in life, his mouth shall only declare the righteousness of God and His praise all day long.

What is your decision all day long? Are you going to complain, or declare God's praise or mix the two together? Are you going to declare God's righteous deeds or murmur and grumble about what has not yet manifested? When you rise early in the morning, what is your initial disposition - grateful to God for another day or bitter against God because of your predicament? In the course of the day, do you focus on God's praise or you keep rehearsing your sorrows and mishaps? When the day is over, what is your attitude - praise or worry? All day long, choose to be with Jesus. All day long choose to offer God His due praise. He deserves more than you can offer all the day long. Shalom.

*Prayer* sing this hymn of Adoration: Blessed Assurance, Jesus is mine. Oh what a foretaste of glory Divine. Heir of salvation, purchase of blood. Born of His Spirit, washed in His blood. This is my story, this is my song. Praising my saviour, all the day long; this is my story, this is my song, praising my saviour all the day long. May you praise God all day long. May your lips continually offer His praise. Thank You Father, Amen.

*Psalm 35: God Desires Prosperity (2)*

Psalm 35:27 Let them shout for joy and be glad, Who favor my righteous cause; And let them say continually, “Let the Lord be magnified, Who has pleasure in the prosperity of His servant.”

As we keep engaging on the subject of God's desire for prosperity, we must put into consideration spiritual and kingdom minded prosperity. If all our desires for prosperity is earthly and sensual then we are not different from the heathen. Just as we desire financial and material prosperity, we must keep it in mind to use these resources for the fulfilment of kingdom's business. Any financial and material prosperity that can not b correlated with Kingdom business is a prosperity in error. The ultimate goal for the prospering of the saints is to prosper the kingdom's work. This is why the person the Lord prospers is more important than the prosperity itself.

God takes pleasure in the spiritual prosperity of the righteous. This is even more than the material prosperity. First, God desires that every believer must prosper in their relationships with Him. There are many believers that are not prospering in their spiritual fellowship with God since they became born again. Secondly, God desires that every believer should prosper in their prayer lives. When it comes to having communion with God in the place of prayer, most believers are indebted. Thirdly, God desire a prosperity in indepth understanding of the word of life. Many believers are not growing in the word and lack revelation in biblical interpretation.

In another dimension that has to do with outreach, soul winning, mission and evangelism, many believers have no desire and hence, they are not prospering in it. The Bible says he that wins a soul is wise. One of the markers of our spiritual prosperity will be based on how we influenced others into the Kingdom of God. The more souls that entered into the Kingdom of God through our influence, the more prosperity that we be accounted on us. This is why every believer must take the subject of soul winning as every day business just the same we report daily at our duty posts. As we are making money, we should also be making kingdom people.

God desires the prosperity of the righteous. God want you to prosper in your spiritual strength and capacity. God does not want you to be a child forever. He desires a spiritual growth in you that can be measured with the markers of prosperity. Today, as you seek to upgrade in your finances, relationship, health and connections, also seek to upgrade in your prayer life, bible study life, evangelism, mission and soul winning, and in your general love for God. Don't remain a spiritual pauper while your finances grow. Don't be material giant and a spiritual lilliput. Prosper in spirit and body. God bless you. Shalom.

*Confession:* I declare that my spiritual life is excelling in prosperity. I am prospering in my relationship with God. I am prospering in my prayer life and bible study. I am prospering in my faithful christian stewardship. I will keep prospering in my soul winning, evangelism, mission and outreaches. I will be wealthy and healthy in spirit and body. Thank You Father, Amen.

*Psalm 35: God Desires Prosperity*

Psalm 35:27 Let them shout for joy and be glad, Who favor my righteous cause; And let them say continually, “Let the Lord be magnified, Who has pleasure in the prosperity of His servant.”

There is no amount of abuse about the spread of prosperity preachers and false prosperity teachings that will make God to change His mind about His concept of prosperity. Poverty and lack has no glory and should never be envied or admired by any Christian. I have seen poverty, and I have also encountered prosperity. There is nothing to be compared with prosperity. John the Beloved declared that his desire above everything else is to see believers live in prosperity just as their souls prosper. This is also God's position on prosperity. God desires and takes pleasure in the prosperity of the saints. Anywhere God is, prosperity is established.

Prosperity is all encompassing and all embracing. It is a holistic concept. It covers every area that is connected with the well being of an individual. When the Psalmist declares that the Lord is interested in the prosperity of the righteous, he implies the following. First, financial and material prosperity. This is very foundational to the tenets of prosperity. The covenant God established with Abraham had the principal elements of wealth and riches. The exodus of the Israelites out of Egypt was to walk into a land flowing with milk and honey which represents abundance and prosperity. The miracle of the net-breaking fish catch by Jesus to Peter was also a typo of prosperity.

Secondly, prosperity is enshrined in sowing and reaping. Every seed is a potential for prosperity. A seed carries unlimited potential of fruits and seeds. This is why God gives seed to the sower. The more seeds are planted or dispersed on the soil, the more the harvest. He who sow sparingly will reap saringly. He who sow bountifully will also reap bountifully. This is a law for prosperity. Thirdly there is also a prosperity that is found in relationships. When you are rich in blessed people you are also abundant in life. There are many people that are not financially bouyant but rich in quality friendships and relatives. When people spend money, they spend people. Hence, they don't lack.

Ultimately, there is prosperity that is connected with health and quality living. God desires that every saint should live a healthy and wealthy life. As we seek all forms of prosperities, we should never take for granted the prosperity of our bodies, systems and organs. This is because a diseased life is a dis-eased life. As you go about each day, keep your focus on the subject of prosperity. Don't let the devil lie to you that your desire for prosperity is ungodly. Remember, prosperity in the hands of the righteous does a great advantage to the kingdom of God more than poverty. May the Lord grant you His prosperity and cause you to live in it in Jesus' name, Amen.

*Confession:* I live in prosperity. God's desire for my prosperous living will come to pass in my life. I am prosperous in wealth and riches - I have what it takes to meet my needs and kingdom assignment. I am blessed with seeds - I sow bountifully. I am blessed with quality relationships - I am rich in people and connection. I am blessed with health - I live a healthy life. Thank You Father, Amen.

*Psalm 35: Reciprocated Favours*

Psalm 35:27 Let them shout for joy and be glad, Who favor my righteous cause; And let them say continually, “Let the Lord be magnified, Who has pleasure in the prosperity of His servant.”

When God covenanted Himself with Abraham, the very first blessing that He pronounced on him was that He will make him a great nation and bless him and make him a blessing. The first security to this promise was that the Lord will bless those who blesses Abraham and curse those who curses him as well. This word of security is still highly valid till date. I have discovered a secret to ministerial success and christian living. If you bless a child of covenant, blessings becomes automated to your account. As long as God has declared His word, it must be fulfilled in the life of those who walk in obedience with it.

God is very intentional and particular about blessing those who blesses His servant. This is because it is one of the avenues that God uses to inspire, encourage and motivate His servants. Whenever God invites you for a covenant relationship, He makes your life a fertile soil where sowing and bountiful reaping can take place. This is important because through sowing and reaping, many will be attracted to bless the cause for which God has commissioned you. On the contrary, when people choose to frustrate, curse and oppose God's covenanted servant, God also deal a measure of what they have done to His servant back to them.

There are many testimonies about this in the scriptures. Rahab was a harlot. She showed unusual kindness to the spies that came on assignment into Jericho. When the wall and city of Jericho was destroyed, Rahab's house was built on the wall, yet, it didn't go down with others. And most importantly, she became a progenitor in the ancestry of Jesus. The widow of Zarepheth showed Prophet Elijah an unusual kindness. The Lord blessed her in return. The Shunamite woman also showed Prophet Elisha some great deal of kindness and the Lord blessed her. You cannot be a blessing to God's children and not receive a reciprocated blessing.

This is how the Psalmist proclaimed it. He said: "Let them shout for joy and be glad, Who favor my righteous cause;". When you always speak in the favour of the righteous, you will experience joy and gladness. When you defend the righteous, you will enjoy divine security. When you provide and give sacrificially to the cause of the righteous, you will receive supernatural provision. These are not mere rhetorics. These are God's principles of security to the covenanted mission that He has given to His children. Are you favouring the righteous cause or blocking it? Remember, their is a reciprocated reward. If you bless the righteous, God will bless you. If you curse the righteous, the reciprocal is imminent. Shalom.

*Prayer:* O Lord, I receive the heart, mind and will power to favour the righteous cause. In every season and situations, I choose to bless the righteous. I choose to be an instrument of inspiration and encouragement to the righteous. My life shall be attracted to reciprocated blessing because I have blessed the righteous. I will encounter joy and gladness because I favour the righteous cause. Thank You Father, Amen.

*Psalm 35: Block Evil Testimony*

Psalm 35:25-26 Let them not say in their hearts, “Ah, so we would have it!” Let them not say, “We have swallowed him up.” Let them be ashamed and brought to mutual confusion Who rejoice at my hurt; Let them be clothed with shame and dishonor Who exalt themselves against me.

When the wicked is frenzied with celebrations just know that an elect has fallen. When you look closely into the scriptures, you will discover this reality. When the Philistines captured Samson and shaved off his hair, it was like a festival. They celebrated all through the night with merriment and wild partying. They taunted him and made a public ridicule out of him. They turned him into an object of sports for their entertainment and relaxation. When the Philistines captured the Ark of the Lord from the Israelites, it was a moment of celebration in the camp of the Philistines. Infact, their victory was sealed with that important feat.

When Jesus was crucified on the cross and buried, the kingdom of darkness rejoiced with shouts of triumph. I think the highest level of spiritual banters and mockery was experienced during the crucifixion of Jesus Christ. Physically and psychologically, the disciples were gripped with unimaginable fear and they went into hiding. The spread of the negative news in the land was unbearable to the hearing of the secret disciples. If the thief on the cross could threw a banter at Jesus at crucifixion, then how much more his accusers and Satan the archenemy?

The Psalmist declares that let those who plot evil testimony towards me be put to shame. Where they have fashioned their words of mockery, let it return to them as a garment of shame and disgrace. When the Philistines rejoiced over the capture of Samson, they never knew that their greatest disaster of death was about to happen to them. When the Philistines rejoiced over the capture of the Ark of the Lord, they never knew that their god Dagon was about to be destroyed. When they crucified Jesus, they never knew that the greatest testimony of all times and perfection of God's redemptive plans was about to be perfected. Infact the crucifixion became the catalyst for a glorious resurrection.

God is still involved in blocking the testimony of the evil ones concerning you. Whoever that desire to mock you shall not succeed over you. Whoever that desire to carry evil report about you shall not succeed. Whoever that desire to celebrate your downfall shall not succeed. That evil testimony concerning you will not fly. This day with my Psalmspired and Psalmsplified voice, I declare the prayer of the Psalmist that says: Let them be ashamed and brought to mutual confusion those Who rejoice at my hurt; Let them be clothed with shame and dishonor Who exalt themselves against me. So shall it be concerning you and your household in Jesus' name, Amen.

*Prayer:* O Lord, block every evil testimony of the wicked towards me and my family. When they desire to mock me to scorn, give me a lifting about their mockery. When they want to mock my downfall, cause me to rise back to a realm of greater glory. Turn every event that has been programmed for my mockery into my testimony. Thank You Father, Amen.
