Let’s Talk About Folic Acid and Folate 💚
So today someone asked whether folate has any negative effects. That question led to many suggestions — but most people started talking about folic acid instead.
Interestingly, many women believe folic acid can make fibroids grow bigger. This isn’t the first time I’ve heard such concerns. Because of that, I’ve taken time to read through several scientific journals yet I still haven’t found any that clearly say folic acid increases fibroid growth.
What I’ve noticed, however, is that some women’s bodies cannot properly convert folic acid into its active form (methylfolate). When this conversion doesn’t happen well, it can affect detoxification and hormonal balance. And when your hormones are not balanced or your liver struggles to release toxins, that imbalance can contribute to fibroid growth.
Here’s what we need to understand:
Folate is the natural form found in foods like spinach, beans, avocado, moringa, and oranges.
Folic acid is the synthetic form often used in supplements.
So in the absence of enough folate-rich foods, taking folic acid helps boost folate levels in the body.
My advice to every TTC (trying to conceive) woman is this — if you can get enough folate from your meals, that’s wonderful! Nature always knows best. But if not, you can still take folic acid or methylated folate supplements to support your body based on your doctor's prescription.
Remember, folate plays a key role in:
- Supporting egg and s***m health
- Balancing hormones
- Reducing oxidative damage
- Enhancing conception
Do you know you can get lots of antioxidants and vitamins like folic acids in your lycoset?
Next time we will talk about Lycoset.
