I've spent so many years listening to women who were dismissed, unheard, or made to feel their symptoms were something they simply had to endure. And I'm done staying quiet about it.

Here's what most people still don't understand:
PMDD and perimenopause are serious mental health conditions driven by hormones. Many doctors don't even recognize PMDD. Others deny that perimenopause affects mental health at all. And when women show up suffering, their cycles are never even part of the conversation.

Women are being treated as if their biology doesn't exist, misdiagnosed, gaslit, and sent home. When what they actually need is to be treated as a woman. With a cycle. With hormones. With a nervous system that responds to all of it.

1 in 3 women with PMDD has attempted su***de. This is not a mood thing. This is a medical emergency being ignored.

We cannot create change without speaking up. That's why I stand behind the campaign — alongside and and why I created the Resilience Retreat in Portugal this June. Because these crises are preventable, when we finally start listening. 💚

On International Women’s Day, let’s talk about something that affects millions of women but barely gets mentioned: PMDD.

PMDD is not “bad PMS.”

It’s a severe condition where the brain has a heightened response to normal hormonal fluctuations. The result? Extreme mood swings, distress, anxiety, depression—every single month.

And here’s what many don’t know:

Research shows a strong link between early life trauma and PMDD. Trauma creates chronic stress and hypervigilance, which makes the brain more sensitive to hormonal changes.

So for women with PMDD, every cycle can feel like a recurring traumatic event.

Imagine someone spiked your drink and suddenly you feel terrible—but you don’t know why. That’s what undiagnosed PMDD can feel like.

The knowing helps. Understanding what’s happening in your body can prevent the overwhelming spiral.

But even with awareness, PMDD is exhausting. It’s real. And it deserves real support.

Burnout doesn't always look like burnout. 🔖

You might think you're just tired. Or lazy. Or not trying hard enough.

But burnout shows up differently:
- Constant fatigue that sleep doesn't fix
- Irritability at small things
- Simple tasks feel impossible
- Can't focus or make decisions
- Physical tension, headaches, body pain
- Can't switch off from work
- Feeling disconnected, like you're just going through the motions

Here's what matters: Burnout isn't a personal failure. It's not a lack of willpower.

It's your nervous system stuck in overdrive, signaling that something needs to change.

The vagus nerve, which controls your rest-and-digest response, can't do its job when you're running on empty without recovery. That's why rest alone doesn't always fix it. Your brain and body need to learn how to regulate again.

Recognition is the first step. Regulation is the next.

Save this for the next time your nervous system is screaming. 🔖

You don't always have 20 minutes to meditate or go for a walk. Sometimes you have 3 minutes in the bathroom, between meetings, or sitting in your car.

Here's what actually works when you need to regulate fast:

1️⃣ Long exhales through the mouth
Breathe in through your nose for 4 counts. Exhale through your mouth for 6-8 counts. Do this 5 times. Longer exhales tell your nervous system it's safe to calm down.

2️⃣ Humming
Hum any tune for 1 minute. The vibration activates your vagus nerve, which controls your rest-and-digest response. Bonus: it feels ridiculous, which helps break the stress cycle.

3️⃣ Tapping your belly and chest
Gently tap your chest, then your belly, alternating for 1 minute. This brings awareness back to your body and interrupts the fight-or-flight loop.

4️⃣ Complete breath
Place one hand on your chest, one on your belly. Breathe so your belly rises first, then your chest. Exhale fully. Repeat 5 times. This activates diaphragmatic breathing, which calms the nervous system.

5️⃣ Name what you see
Look around and name 5 things you can see out loud. This grounds you in the present moment and pulls you out of your head.

You don't need a whole routine. You just need 3 minutes and one of these tools.
