When IBS symptoms hit, it can be hard to know what to do. It's very easy to panic and get stressed about our symptoms, but this almost always makes our symptoms get worse.
So what can we do when a flare up hits? Try these three things:
1. Try to figure out why you're having a flare up. Is there something stressful happening in your life? Once we understand where it comes from, it's easier to accept that it's happening.
2. Do some deep breathing. This helps to regulate the nervous system and bring your body back into a rest and digest state.
3. Keep meals simple. Eat foods that you know your gut can handle and try to keep meals warm (great for your digestive system!).
This is exactly the kind of personalized support I offer inside my 3-session gut reset this month.
Limited spots available.

Morning anxiety + gut discomfort is incredibly common.
Your stress hormones rise naturally in the morning.
If your system is already feeling overwhelmed and stressed, that hormone rise is going to leave you feel immediately anxious.
This in turn has an impact on your gut, resulting in symptoms like bloating, tightness and upset.
If this sounds familiar, I'm offering 3-session coaching this month where we can explore your stress-gut pattern and start you on your healing journey.

You go to work, where you’re performing great.
You hit your deadlines and you’re social.
You go to the gym, you make time for your friends. From the outside it looks like you’re thriving.
But behind the scenes:
– You’re scanning for bathrooms.
– You cancel plans last minute.
– You avoid eating certain foods.
– You push through discomfort daily.
Just because you’re functioning doesn’t mean you’re thriving.
IBS that you’ve dealt with for years has now become the new normal. But even (more) so, it is still something you deserve support with.
Comment FUNCTIONING if you can relate.

Eliminating foods can help on the short-term for easing IBS symptoms.
But if your symptoms keep coming back, the issue may not be what you’re eating.
It may be how stressed your system is.
When your nervous system is exhausted from chronic stress, your gut becomes more reactive, even to foods that may have been fine just a few weeks ago.
This is why in my opinion healing IBS isn’t just about removing foods. It's a great place to start, but on the long-term the goal for IBS healing is to find out your stress pattern and gain the skills to manage stress and regulate your nervous system.
If you want support in understanding your stress and gut patterns, my 3-session reset is open this month.

If your IBS symptoms flare up when you're going through something stressful, you're not alone.
Your gut and nervous system are deeply connected. When life feels overwhelming, your body shifts into fight or flight mode, and all of the energy is directed away from the gut. If this continues for a long time, your gut will not be able to digest properly and it can result in uncomfortable IBS symptoms.
This is completely normal, and there are things that you can do to support your body and your gut in recovering from the IBS flare up.
Stress management and techniques to bring your body back into a rest and digest state will be super helpful in this process!
I just opened a limited number of 3-session Gut Reset spots this month — designed to help you understand your stress-gut connection and calm your system.

Growth doesn’t begin with force and doing as much as possible.
Surprisingly, it begins when you surrender control over your healing process and make time to slow down. A safe, sturdy foundation is the best place to start on your healing journey! ✨

Sometimes we can become a bit obsessed with doing all the things in order to heal. And then we feel frustrated when we aren't getting anywhere.
This perfection trap can leave us more stressed out and can get in the way of our healing journey.
This is a normal part of the healing journey, and slowing down can help to bring us back to center.
