Have you ever seen a flashy commercial about tomatoes or carrots?
The answer is most probably: No. You won't see any supermodels eating carrots or tomatoes like they 'eat' ice cream in commercials. You won't see any superheroes drinking water instead of energy drinks after saving a train from crashing.
Let's face it: prevention isn't sexy. Being consistent, eating your veggies, drinking your water, going to bed on time, being, daily exercise, being mindful about your thoughts. It takes time to build these habits. And things that take time might sound boring. Especially in an era where literally everything is one swipe away.
But here's the thing, all these things are key when it comes to improving your immune system and overall health. Building and maintaining your muscles is the key to longevity, to health, to an improved immune system. All you need to do is the simple and 'boring' stuff consistently. A nice side effect is that these muscles will make you look good naked as well. Or maybe you prefer a super hero costume, up to you.
Do the boring stuff consistently and I promise you that you'll look and feel like a superhero. One who goes to bed at 22.30 and has a gratitude journal but hey...still a superhero πŸ¦ΈπŸ»β€β™€οΈπŸ¦ΈπŸΌβ€β™‚οΈ

Take ownership of your health.
Accept responsibility for your actions.
Be accountable for the results.
Given the current circumstances it might be less important to focus on esthetics. Instead we should focus on building strength and resilience. That's exactly what you do when you focus on increasing and maintaining your muscle mass through resistance strength training and nutrition! You improve your immune system and overall health. Muscles are the answer to good health and longevity, cherish them, you need them more than ever! So get of the couch, turn off Netflix for a while join the online WOD of your box or any other online training. Junkfood and treats should be an exception, focus on nutrition dense, minimum processed food. If your box is hosting a nutrition/health challenge like , join in! It will help you stay committed to your goals and it's fun. Time to level up, the world needs us.
And by the way... a nice side effect is , of course, the esthetic part. I'm thinking: Linda Hamilton in Terminator 2 judgement day ;)

Habits change into character.
This one has a lot of character!
When she first walked in she did not know to distinguish one macronutrient from the other. Her diet, like most of the diets in the western world, consisted of mostly carbs. A few weeks into the challenge, at her birthday, she cooked all of the snacks and meals from scratch. All healthy and delicious. Not only did she manage to amaze her family and friends but she made made my day as well :) At the New Year's party she confessed that even while travelling in Namibia, she did her utmost best to make the right choices. I could not be prouder! Watch out for this ❀️
She won't be tricked into unhealthy habits. In fact, she might trick you into healthy ones.

Separated by snacks! πŸ€—
For instance this Greek(inspired) salad snack with all the macronutrients in it:
*Protein: Cottage Cheese (Huttenkase)
*Carbs: Sliced cherry tomatoes and diced ccumber
*Fat: Lemon infused olive oil and sliced black olives
Add salt & pepper

Always combine Protein and Carbs. It will keep you longer satiated and will therefore limit cravings. Add some fat but not prior to your workout as it might slow down digestion (burpees and fat is not a good combo)
Add diced onions if you like .
I find those gross but hey, who am I to judge your food choices πŸ€·πŸ»β€β™€οΈ)
You could choose to replace the cottage cheese for Feta cheese. Feta is higher in fat so you might want to leave out the olive oil and even olives.

Focus on what you can control.
For instance: your food intake.
Being in quarantine could be a perfect excuse to overeat or binge watch all your favourite series or... you could finally clean out your closet, read that book that you've wanted to read for over a year. Write a letter to your grandparents, learn a new language, do a bodyweight workout, polish your shoes, practice new dance moves. All this while mindfully making the right food choices. Like this perfect snack that contains all macronutrients. Cottage cheese, blueberries and cashews.
Make the best out of it. You got this!
