The Cure - AND NOTHING IS FOREVER


In 1983, when I was 16 years old I saw Robert Smith from the Cure play for the first time, at Pandoras Music Box. I was totally blown away by Seventeen Seconds and Faith, which I got on a cassette. I remember exactly where I was, enjoying it on my walkman, laying on the grass in the garden of my parents house. I kept listening to it. And Po*******hy was so deep and dark it totally sucked me into it. I had no record like that.

So I tried to get to talk to him backstage, after the show in De Doelen Rotterdam, but after seeing all the girls standing in line, I gave up straight away.

Now, years later, I finally was able to tell him how much I loved that show. It was when I was mastering this first release with new music by the Cure after 16 years! Today the pre-sales started on their website. Both tracks are so pure and powerful, in a very honest and touching way. No sell out at all. Very emotional. Much respect to Robert Smith and band. I am very proud to have mastered this record. It feels like making a full circle, and my 1983 quest to meet Robert is finally complete. I can die peacefully now.

It was a great opportunity for me to meet Roberto from Acetate Dubplate Service yesterday! We ended up spending all afternoon. He has a nice upgraded system and you can hear the difference in quality. Unfortunately I had to skip the electric music record fair today, but could be there when Marloes got her Space & Flow degree! Back to Holland now! :-)

It's Bandcamp Friday. I needed to take a look what this means these days, and this is what II found: 'on the first Friday of each month Bandcamp celebrates with Bandcamp Friday. Bandcamp Friday supercharges the revenue share to Artists and Labels by increasing the amount shared from 82% up to 93%'. SO, 11% more revenue for the artist. Anyway, it's also the release day of our first two records in the Trip Tech Journeys series. Personally I'm quite inspired by a certain early nineties sound, when producers were still experimenting with for and sound. Exploring what was possible in electronic dance music to get to a different state of being. If you order today you will support the label even more to keep releasing this kinda underground music.
