Family plays an important role in the acceptance of their child difficulty.

Children should not be forced to cover the symptom up, to eliminate it, nor just to be taught to hide and control it.

📚Book Recommendation
" The Drama of the Gifted Child"
by Alice Miller

The main point of this book is that the gifted child—the child who is sensitive, and very emotionally aware —can be so attuned to her/his parents’ expectations that she/he does everything to satisfy those expectations while ignoring their own feelings and needs.

In becoming the “perfect” child of the parents’ dreams, the gifted child leaves behind their true self. The price for becoming an ideal child, the child pushes aside their feelings.

**Recommended for parents (who are also children of their parents😛 )

🌈📚Book recommendation for Expectant Parents:
"The Birth of a Mother- How the motherhood experience changes you forever"
by D. N. Stern & N. Sruschwiller-Stern

🤰For many women, pregnancy and motherhood is a joyful image of how their lives can change. But most mothers also may experience worry, disappointment, guilt, competition, frustration, and even anger and fear.
The process of becoming a mother, which anthropologists call “matrescence,” has not been explored as much in the medical community.
This book is a supportive tool of both parents (mother who experience the pregnancy and also their partners) to acknowledge the challenges of matrescence. This book will normalize and validate how new mothers may be feeling.🤱

Strong emotions can sometimes be difficult to be recognised, named and therefore, to be handled.

Many times we put a different label on our emotions or we label an underlying strong emotion as ANGER.
It ican be very helpful to recognize what emotion or emotions one is feeling to be able to resolve a problem situation.

👉To start to understand your emotions, you can ask yourself two questions:
- How do I feel?
- How do I know?

🌱Your child's concerning symptoms insist and reoccur, despite the teaching and training therapies they have been exposed to. Your child does not seem ready to join in the social, emotional, or language activities when they are expected to.

🌈For this child, there is a little space where they can start off safely by creating and talking. Using a sensitive and trained eye, the specialist will be fostering your child's psychosocial development and comunication.

Play Therapy with Dimitra in Child's Corner 🌈

Having a sensitive eye on the child's choices of patterns of playing, respectfully and gradually, the child shall reveal in a natural way, its own worries, without feeling withdrawn, as it all happens while it is playing! By playing again, new scenarios will be explored, different solutions will be questioned so that the child will more readily be willing to explore it in the world outside the therapy room.
