A recent study realised by scientists from Amsterdam UMC in the region of North Holland, showed that civilian first responders increased survival rates for patients at home by 50%.

The Emergency Medical Service introduced a text-message system alerting volunteers nearby of an out-of-hospital cardiac arrest (OHCA) patient. During the study, 785 automated external defibrillators (AED) were also made available throughout the community.

The results show a time reduction of 2.6 minutes from emergency call to first defribillation shock, and increased survival rates for patients at home from 26% to 39%.

Topvoetballer Daley Blind zet zich in als ambassadeur voor de Hartstichting. Uit eigen ervaring weet Blind hoe belangrijk een gezond hart is. Daarom spoort hij Nederlanders aan om het vertrouwen in hun hart terug te winnen, gezond te blijven of juist weer in beweging te komen. Zo hoopt hij vooral jongeren ervan te doordringen dat ze goed voor hun hart moeten zorgen.
