🔦 Search and Rescue Training Weekend 🧭
Over the weekend, our incredible team delivered a hands-on Search and Rescue course for Venturers, Rovers, and Leaders from across the state — supporting them on their journey to earning official SAR qualifications.

Participants covered vital skills including shelter building, search techniques, radio communication, rescue protocols, and essential gear for both land and water-based scenarios.

A huge thank you to our expert guides — Keith, Amanda, Paul, and of course Lumpy — for their time, dedication, and knowledge. 👏

Prepared. Skilled. Ready. 💪

When do I need to submit an Activity Notification through ANS?

ANS is used to collect activity plans and risk assessments for activities in NSW and allows us to review and approve activities and provide data to identify issues and support our conversations with regulators and insurers.
An ANS submission is required for all Adventurous Activities (activities listed in the WACIR).
An exception for activities done in the hall, such as bushcraft and pioneering, where the participants' feet are less than 2m above the ground.
An exception for activities in the hall and the environs of the hall up to 2km, which are not Adventurous Activities and could include walks and games.
Each group must maintain a risk assessment for any activity it conducts in its hall or environs and must have obtained parental consent generally for those activities.
An ANS submission is required for all camping.
An ANS submission is required for all Commercial Activities (listed in the WACIR).
You don't need to submit an ANS for general leisure activities such as bowling or a Macca's dining in night, but you do need parental consent, likely through Operoo.
If something is outside of these guidelines, use your judgment: if there is a need to consider a risk assessment and plan the activity, put it in ANS.
