The Nepali Foundation Re-connecting to high school friends and supporting our local community.

Nepali Foundation came into existence with a collective efforts of the people of Nepali origin. It was formed as a result of ex-high school friends reconnecting to each other and coming up with the idea of providing a scholarship opportunity at the very school they went to many many years ago in Nepal. The first scholarship was offered at the Kachana Public School at Itahari in 2013 which has grown significantly to seven scholarships in 2017. We continue to work hard to increase the number of scholarship opportunities at other public schools. The foundation's long term goal is to provide extend the scholarship opportunities in the area of business, science, engineering and medicine studies.

The 4th Nepali Foundation Scholarship of 2018-2019 was awarded to Nabin Parajuli at the Shree Mahendra MA VI School. Niraj was successful in receiving the scholarship by scoring 86% marks in the year 9 exams. He has been regarded as a very hard working and high performing student. Nabin also regularly assists the teachers and staffs conduct various extra-curricular activities.

Nabin was born to a family of four in Okhaldhunga, one of 14 districts of Province No. 1 of eastern Nepal where he did his primary schooling before moving to Itahari for higher education.

Nabin’s career aspiration relates to many of us. He aims to pursue a career in the government sector with the aim to become an officer, the career many of us desire to pursue. We wish Nabin a very best of luck for his future endeavours.

The Nepali Foundation began offering scholarships at the Shree Mahendra MA VI School in 2017 and this scholarship marks the 2nd scholarship offered at the school.

We would like to thank the school management committee for all the support we have received in making the last year very successful and look forward to growing this partnership even further.

Our special appreciation goes to Bimal Niroula for sponsoring this scholarship and helping us deliver scholarship opportunities to deserving students in Nepal.

Continuing with the scholarship announcements of the year, we are excited to share that the third Nepali Foundation Scholarship of 2018 was awarded to Niraj Nepal at the Shree Saraswati Secondary School. Niraj has scored 85.1% marks in the year 9 exams and been regarded as a very motivated student who has also participated in different extra-curricular activities.

Niral was born to a working-class family at Itahari, a sub-metropolitan city of seven municipalities located in the Sunsari District of Province No. 1 of Nepal. Niraj intends to focus his career in social studies. We wish Niral all the best for successful academic years ahead.

The Nepali Foundation’s partnership with the Shree Saraswati Secondary School began in 2016 and this scholarship marks the 3rd scholarship offered at the school. We would like to thank the school management committee for all the support we have received for the last few years and look forward to growing this partnership even further.

The second Nepali Foundation Scholarship of 2018 was awarded to Rajina Karki at Janata Higher Secondary School at Itahari.

Rajina was successful in obtaining the Nepali Foundation Scholarship by achieving 74.9% marks in the year 9. She was regarded by the school management committee as an enthusiastic and very hardworking student.

Rajina was born in Dhankuta, a hill town and the headquarter of Koshi Zone located in Dhankuta District of Eastern Nepal. In search of better educational opportunity, the family moved to Itahari and Rajina started studying at the Godawari Bidya Mandir. Following the passing of her father, she moved on to study at the Janta Higher Secondary School which is one of the oldest and reputed public schools in Sunsari.

After completing the SLC, Rajina aims to pursue a career in nursing and provide much needed medical assistance to the people in need.

We wish all the best to Rajina for successful academic years ahead.

We extend our sincere appreciation to Kasmira Bhattarai (Bhatt Samira) for sponsoring this scholarship for the past three years and enabling us to offer scholarships to deserving students.

As we enter into 5th anniversary of the formation of the Nepali Foundation, we are delighted to share with you the updates from this year’s scholarships awards.

The first of the six scholarships was awarded to Kaushal Katuwal at the “Shree Kachana Mahadev Secondary School”, the very school where we offered the foundation’s first scholarship back in 2014. Kaushal secured this year’s Nepali Foundation scholarship based on this academic performance in year 9, his family background, his future plans and school management committee’s recommendation.

Kaushal was born to a teacher’s family in a village of the mountainous district of Sankhuwasava and did his early days of primary schooling in Mudhe which is located in the Central Region of Nepal. His family then moved to Itahari, Koshi.

Kaushal has a diverse interest. He is particularly influenced by Stephen Hawkin and aspires to be a scientist. Kaushal intends to spend the scholarship funds purchasing science books, encyclopedia and focus on science studies.

We extend our sincere appreciation to Mr. Puspa Niroula for sponsoring this scholarship for the past five years and enabling us to offer scholarships to deserving students and school management committee for its support to the Nepali Foundation program.

Following on from last week’s Nepali Foundation distributions, we awarded remaining three scholarships for this year at three more schools.

The students were recognised for their academic excellence and scholarships were awarded in the presence of the school community, parents of the sponsors and the Nepali Foundation volunteers.

The recipients of the Nepali Foundation scholarships are:

Goma Katwal from Shree Rashtriya Secondary School

Last week, on 10th of September 2017, The Nepali Foundation awarded it's first three scholarships for 2017-2018 at three different schools. Remaining three scholarships have been planned to be awarded over the coming weeks.

The students were recognised for their academic excellence and scholarships were awarded in the presence of the school community, parents of the sponsors and the Nepali Foundation volunteers.

The recipients of this year’s scholarships are:

Rohan Karki from Saraswati Higher Secondary School
Arati Thapa from Shree Saraswati Satan Secondary School

We are currently assessing scholarship applications for 2017-2018 from all participating school. The results will be out within next two weeks.

For more details, please contact your school administration.

​The yearly scholarship grant of Rs 10,000 is currently available at each participating school. The scholarship funds will cover the cost of tuition fees, books, stationary and uniforms. ​
