Mobile Eye Health Program Successfully Completed (26–28 February 2026)

From 26th to 28th February 2026, a three-day Mobile Eye Health Program was successfully conducted at DCWC Community Hospital. The program was organized in collaboration with Tilganga Institute of Ophthalmology, Chaurideurali Rural Municipality, and with the valuable support of Good Vision Nepal.

The program was inaugurated by the hospital’s Management Manager, Tula Bahadur Lama, who warmly welcomed the visiting eye care team from Tilganga and highlighted the importance of community-based eye health services, especially for people living in rural areas where access to specialized care can be limited.

During the three-day outreach program, 156 community members received eye care services. Among them, 94 were women and 62 were men, showing strong participation from the local community. After detailed eye examinations, 48 individuals received prescription power glasses according to their vision needs.

The screening also identified 6 patients suffering from cataracts, a common eye condition that causes cloudy or blurred vision. Plans are already being made to support these patients with simple cataract surgery in the near future, so they can regain clear vision and improve their daily quality of life.

Programs like this play an important role in raising awareness about eye health, early detection of eye diseases, and ensuring that people in rural communities receive timely care.

We would like to express our sincere gratitude to the dedicated team from Tilganga Institute of Ophthalmology, including:

Kamana Neupane, Program Officer

Pramila Dangaura, Ophthalmic Assistant

Khushbu Yadav, Ophthalmic Assistant

Dawa Lopchan, Optical Dispenser

We would also like to extend special thanks to Tej Bahadur Ghising, Chaurideurali Gaupalika health Department Incharge for his continuous coordination and support.

This program would not have been possible without the cooperation of the DCWC Community Hospital Management, committee members, local school teachers, students, health post staff, community members, and the dedicated employees of DCWC Community Hospital. Your collective effort and commitment made this program meaningful and successful.

Finally, we sincerely request Tilganga Institute of Ophthalmology and Chaurideurali Rural Municipality to continue their valuable collaboration in the coming days. With continued partnership and support, we hope to organize more community health programs and ensure that quality eye care reaches everyone who needs it.

A Day Of Care And Commitment: School Health Camp At Saraswoti Secondary School

On a bright winter morning in Dhuseni Shivalaya, Ward No. 4 of Chaurideurali Rural Municipality, the courtyard of Saraswoti Secondary School was filled with more than the usual sounds of lessons and laughter. Instead of regular classes, the day was dedicated to something equally important:health.

A one-day school health camp was organized on February 12, 2026 at the school premises under the leadership of Dr. Rajesh Kumar Thakur from DCWC Community Hospital. The initiative aimed to provide basic health screening and medical consultation to the students, ensuring that their physical well-being supports their academic journey.

From early morning, disciplined students lined up patiently for registration and check-ups. Teachers assisted in maintaining order, and the atmosphere remained calm and cooperative throughout the day. By the end of the camp, a total of 195 students had undergone health examinations. Among them, 111 were female students and 84 were male students.

The medical team encountered a range of common health concerns. Several students were found to be suffering from fungal infections, headaches, cough, sore throat, common cold, dental caries, ear problems, and upper respiratory tract (URT) infections. After careful examination, necessary medicines were distributed on-site, and students were given guidance on hygiene, nutrition, and preventive care. For many of the children, this was their first comprehensive health screening in a long time.

Dr. Rajesh Kumar Thakur led the medical team with dedication and professionalism. He was supported by Pharmacy Assistant Pasang Syangtan, Nursing In-charge Sarada Karki, volunteer Dr. Katerina Spackova, health volunteer and pharmacy assistant Katarina Bila, ambulance driver Tek Bahadur Thapa Magar, school nurse Karishma Sunuwar, and CMA Nirmala oli. Each member played a vital role in ensuring the smooth and effective completion of the health camp.

The cooperation of the school teachers, staff, and students was equally commendable. Their coordination and discipline significantly contributed to the success of the program. The school administration also requested for a Blood identification Program for the students , which the hospital team happily agreed to prepare for future follow-up and continuity of care.

As the sun began to set behind the hills, the medical team packed up their equipment and prepared to return to the hospital. Our team left with a promise to visit again, to continue supporting the health of the children, and to strengthen the bond between the community and healthcare services.

The one-day school health camp was not just a medical event; it was a reminder that education and health go hand in hand. When children are healthy, they learn better, grow stronger, and dream bigger. And on February 12, 2026, in a small school in Dhuseni Shivalaya, that truth was clearly visible.

On 13 January 2026, Shree Kallabari Secondary School in Dudhpokhari, Sailung Rural Municipality–1, Dolakha, witnessed a meaningful and educational health initiative that brought learning beyond the classroom.

A blood group identification and awareness program was conducted for students from Nursery to Grade 10, led by Ms. Koshila Shrestha, Laboratory In-Charge of DCWC Community Hospital. With patience, care, and dedication, she spent nearly six continuous hours helping students understand the importance of knowing their blood group and ensuring each child’s blood group was correctly identified.

A Small Step Toward Brighter Smiles: Our Dental Health Outreach Journey To 3 Schools

9 January 2026 (2082/9/25) marked a meaningful day for our hospital team as we took another step toward improving community dental health. With the belief that healthy habits begin at a young age, our dental outreach program was carried out across several primary schools, focusing on awareness, prevention, and care.

The journey began at Shree Chaurikhola Primary School, located in Chauri Deurali Rural Municipality–Ward No. 2. Our hospital’s Dental Surgeon, Dr. Sabina Suwal, led the session with great care and warmth. She patiently demonstrated proper tooth-brushing techniques and explained the importance of daily oral hygiene in a way that young students could easily understand.

A total of 13 students participated in the program—6 girls and 7 boys—each eager to learn and actively involved throughout the session. At the end of the program, every student received a toothbrush and toothpaste, ensuring they could immediately put their new knowledge into practice. The smiles on their faces reflected not just excitement, but empowerment.

Following this, the team conducted a similar dental awareness program at Mahakali Primary School, also located in Chauri Deurali Rural Municipality–Ward No. 2. Here, 12 students took part in the session, including 8 girls and 4 boys. Once again, students were taught the correct methods of cleaning their teeth and maintaining oral hygiene. The program concluded with the distribution of toothbrushes and toothpaste to all participants, reinforcing the importance of consistency in dental care.

Our outreach then extended to Shree Darga Primary School, situated in Doramba Sailung Rural Municipality–Ward No. 4, Darga. This dental camp reached a larger group, with 23 students (9 female and 14 male) receiving hands-on guidance on proper oral hygiene practices. Toothpaste and brushes were distributed, and dental checkups were conducted as part of the camp.

Across all outreach activities, a total of 48 participants were involved, supported by only one vehicles for mobility and logistics. During the dental examinations, 10 individuals successfully underwent tooth extraction, while many others were identified as needing further cleaning and preventive dental care. These findings highlighted the urgent need for continued dental awareness and early intervention among students.

This initiative was not just about cleaning teeth—it was about preserving smiles, building healthy habits, and creating awareness for a lifetime. The success of this program would not have been possible without the wholehearted support of the school administrations, teachers, students, and the entire school community.

We extend our sincere gratitude to everyone who participated and supported this effort. Together, we are making a difference—one smile at a time.

School Health Camp Successfully Conducted at Bhimeshwor Secondary School

Date: 6 January 2026 (22nd Poush 2082)

A School Health Camp was successfully conducted at Bhimeshwor Secondary School with the objective of promoting students’ health awareness and basic medical knowledge. The program officially began with an orientation on first aid medicine usage, where students were taught how to use medicines available in a First Aid Box. Along with this session, First Aid Boxes were distributed, marking the formal launch of the school health camp.

As part of the camp, general health check-ups focusing on Ear, Nose, and Throat (ENT) examinations were carried out. In addition, a dental checkup was conducted, which included evaluation of normal teeth, abnormal or special dental conditions, and dental plaque.

A total of 141 students participated in the health camp, among which 84 were female and 57 were male. The assessment revealed that, compared to male students, female students were more affected by dental problems, particularly tooth decay and requiring dental filling. This highlighted the need for improved oral hygiene awareness among students.

Furthermore, unclean ears were identified among some students. To address this , students were educated on the proper use of medicines for ear hygiene, and necessary medicines were distributed accordingly. This practical guidance contributed significantly to improving students’ understanding of personal health care.

We would like to extend our special gratitude to Bhimeshwor Secondary School for the warm welcome and active support that made this School Health Camp a success. We also sincerely thank the School Management Committee, Doramba Sailung Rural Municipality Ward No. 7, the entire school family, and all staff members for their valuable cooperation and contribution.
