Smiles That Matter: A Day of Dental Awareness at Shree Khandadevi School

On the 30th of Shrawan2082 (August 15, 2025), a dental awareness and check-up program was organized at Shree Khandadevi Secondary School. The session was conducted by Dr. Sabina Suwal, a dental surgeon from our hospital. With a clear and engaging presentation, Dr. Suwal explained the importance of oral hygiene and how to maintain a healthy mouth.

She shared how bacteria in the mouth convert sugars and carbohydrates into acid. This acid, combined with food particles and bacteria, forms plaque — a sticky layer that builds up on the surface of the teeth, especially near the gums and between teeth. If plaque is not regularly cleaned, it produces acid that gradually damages the enamel and spreads infection to the dentin layer underneath. This process can lead to tooth sensitivity to hot, cold, or sweet foods and, if untreated, may cause deep nerve pain.

She further explained that symptoms like gum swelling, bleeding, and bad breath can arise, and the bacteria in the mouth can travel through the digestive system into the bloodstream, increasing the risk of heart diseases, diabetes, and other health problems.

Following the presentation, a dental examination was carried out for the students. Out of 112 students, 63 were girls and 49 were boys. Unfortunately, only 7 students were found to have completely healthy teeth. Eight students had to undergo immediate tooth extraction. The results were eye-opening, but we remain hopeful that this small initiative will make a big difference.

The check-up revealed that 20 students needed immediate cleaning, and several of the remaining 77 students required fillings or even root canal treatment. Our team guided the teachers and school staffs to advice the students with dental problems to visit hospital along with their parents for further treatments.

In conclusion, we express heartfelt thanks to everyone who made this dental camp successful — the school family for their support, Dr. Sabina Suwal for her insightful session, Health Assistant Harish Khatri, and Nursing In-Charge Sharada Karki for their valuable contributions. We look forward to continuing our efforts to promote oral health in the community.

A Mother Ram Maya B.K's Journey of Strength from Ramechhap

The green hills of Doromba-07, Ramechhap Nepal, life is peaceful but often challenging. For 31-year-old Ram Maya B.K., the challenge came on the day she was about to meet her child.

As the labor pains grew stronger, there was no hospital nearby and no vehicle waiting outside her home. The only choice was to walk nearly two hours on the steep village trails just to reach the ambulance point. Every step was heavy, every breath difficult, but Ram Maya kept going — not for herself, but for the little life waiting to be born.

Finally, after hours of struggle, she reached the health facility. At 2082/04/28 ( August 13, 2025), her pain turned into joy as she delivered a healthy baby boy, weighing 3400 grams, through a normal delivery.

Her husband, Min Bir Gathani, his eyes filled with both worry and pride. In that moment, the hardships of the walk, the fear, and the exhaustion disappeared. What remained was love, relief, and the sound of their baby’s first cry — a sound stronger than the silence of the long mountain roads.

This is more than just Ram Maya’s story. It is the story of countless mothers in rural Nepal — women who walk for hours, sometimes days, carrying hope, pain, and an unshakable will to bring life into the world. Their journeys remind us of the quiet strength of mothers, who transform struggle into love.

DCWC Community Hospital praise the courage of these mothers, whose strength and love turned struggle into a beautiful new beginning.

Blood Group Identification Program at Shree Ganesh Adharbhut School

On 2082-04-21 ( 6 Aug, 2025 ), a dedicated health outreach program was organized at Shree Ganesh Adharbhut School, located in Churideurali Gaunpalika Ward No. 2. The journey to the school involved a challenging 2 hours and 30 minutes steep and slippery uphill walk, and our team reached the venue at 10:30 AM.

The program began with an informative health awareness session by Saradha Karki, the hospital’s nursing in-charge. She spoke in a simple yet impactful way about healthy lifestyle practices, making the session engaging and easy to understand for the students.

Following the session, the Blood Group Identification Program was conducted by Koshila Shrestha, the hospital’s lab in-charge. Over the course of 4 hours of continuous effort, she successfully identified the blood groups of 45 individuals — 28 males and 17 females.

The school family extends heartfelt thanks to Koshila Shrestha and Saradha Karki for their valuable contribution and tireless dedication. This initiative not only provided important health information but also strengthened the connection between the school and the local healthcare team.

Our hospital, DCWC Community Hospital proudly takes a step forward in building a healthier, stronger community for all. We sincerely thank our dedicated staff for their unwavering commitment and compassion.

A Journey Of Strength, Love, And New Life Of Saraswoti Pradhan

With heartfelt joy, we proudly share the inspiring birth story of Saraswoti Pradhan, a courageous 31-year-old mother from Chaurideurali-02, Kavre.

On the morning of 2082 Shrawan 08, Saraswoti began experiencing intense abdominal pain. Living in a remote hillside village, she had to walk a challenging 2 hours and 30 minutes on foot to reach the ambulance, a true test of her endurance and a mother’s unwavering strength.

But her bravery was rewarded. At exactly 12:19 PM, she safely gave birth to a beautiful, healthy baby weighing 2700 grams.

By her side was her loving husband, Som Pradhan, filled with pride and joy as they welcomed a new life into the world.

This is more than just a birth story, it’s a powerful reminder of the strength of mothers, the challenges of rural life, and the beauty of new beginnings.

Congratulations to Saraswoti and her family. May this new chapter bring endless happiness and good health.
