Must Have's:
Raw Mango Salad, Shwedagon Khow Suey & the Avocado ice cream!
40 Food Talkers joined us for a gastronomical journey to Burma through a curated Burmese feast.
Here's a read at our version of a love story:
Staring our journey with the Samoza soup- a bold burst of flavours packed with Burmese citric heat.
We then moved onto a selection of salads.
The Raw-Mango salad- spoonful of which transported us back to memories of our childhood, with aromas of freshly grown mangoes, dipped in spices.
The tea salad - which showcased the different ways that they use Tea in Burmese cuisine.
Then came our favourite part of the evening- Khow Suey!
Showing the diversity of Burmese style Khow Suey- we did it 3 ways on the menu for the day.
Shwedagon- Unlike anything we've had before- this was a bowl full of surprises.
A bed of noodels with a rich tomato curry topped with coconut cream- A warm Hug in a bowl!
The Oh No! Khao Suey- which was a big Oh Yes!. It was as homely as a cuisine can get. Not too sweet, not too citric and not too much spice, it was just right!
A perfect end to the meal was the Smoked Avocado and Honey Ice Cream with honey caviar- served with some whysical fun.
There is no way to describe this dish that would pay it the respect it deserves. The Ice Cream has its own grandeur, it made the perfect entrance with its theatric beauty. Light, fluffy and wholesome, it gave us the perfect oomph!
