What is Autism?

Autism is how some people are born different.
Their brain works in a different way.

It is not a disease.
It is not a problem to be ashamed of.

Autism affects how a person:

Feels sounds, light, or touch

Everyone with autism is not the same.
Some need more help. Some need less.

Common Signs of Autism

These signs are usually seen in small children.

Talking & Social

Late speaking or not speaking

Less eye contact

Does not respond when name is called

Likes to stay alone

Hard to share feelings

Repeats same action again and again

Gets upset when routine changes
