First Light Advantages! It’s Christmas here in NZ🎄🎅🏻✝️

I should tell you all the reasons why these 4 little exercises work to wake you up and get you moving, but I am not. It is Christmas. Simple today, details another time.

If it is cold where you are, open a window instead of heading outside to get light. Take off your glasses so your eyes actually get the message.

Put a good pinch of sea salt under your tongue. Wait 5 minutes. Drink good quality water.

Pause the coffee. Eat breakfast first. Even if that means a pre breakfast like me at 6:30am within 1 hour of light connection😉

Cold exposure is optional, not required, but helpful. Hold a handful of snow for 30 seconds, 3 rounds. Or step outside in light clothing for 3 minutes. Or do it my way!

That is it folks. Have a blessed Christmas 🎄

No TYLENOL here, let’s work with your body innate healing ability instead😉!

My son had a friend sleep over.
Sunburnt. Headache. Skin hurting.
He asked for Tylenol.

The cabinet was empty of painkillers because we generally don’t fill it!
We avoid medication in our home.
We push natural medicine as far as it can go before even considering pharmaceuticals.
Not perfect, just intentional.

So we supported his body instead of silencing it.

Seventeen years in, Christmas in a bikini still throws me👙🏖️☀️🎄.

So I bring the memories with me and layer in Kiwi rituals. A high tide manu off the wharf, croissants with ham brie and peach after prezzies, lamb or ham on the BBQ, chilly bins full of cold drinks, and meals always outdoors.

WHAT TO DO INSTEAD…..🤔

Plant your feet on the ground for a moment.

Take a breath.

If it is light out, walk to a window.

Open the blinds, crack the window, and let light hit your eyes and fresh air hit your lungs.

If the sun hasn’t begun to rise, wash and splash your face with cold water.

Start your morning with other activities that are more self-nurturing even if it’s for 10 mins and leave that phone alone!!

The practices are simple, free, and smoothly presses the ▶️ button for the day by gently sending the right signals to your body.

Start to give your body a calm start before the chaos starts looking for you👀😰!

🪄MAGIC TRICK TO GET OUT OF SURVIVAL MODE….

Ladies, you carry a lot. Mental load, overwhelm, living way too long in a wired state.
One of the quickest ways out is fun, funny moments, or acting like a kid again. It flips a switch fast🏃‍♀️🏃‍♀️🏃‍♀️

Try this
⭐️5 min dance party in your lounge
⭐️A cheeky wrestle with your partner, kids, or dog
⭐️Watch clips that make you belly laugh for 5 min
⭐️Play goofy with the kids

Or do what I did today. Jump off a wharf into cold water while your kids cheer you on.
They made sure I wasn’t going to pike out (again!)! I did it, and I loved it🥰. The joy in my family today was worth every second💕.

🧑‍🍳🥯🥐 RECIPE: HOMEMADE BAKING POWDER IN 30 SECS

Big batch:

✅1/2 cup cream of tatar

✅ 4 TBSP baking soda (also aluminum free)

✅ 4 TBSP corn starch or tapioca flour

Mix well and bake your little heart out😋😘

DROP PERFECTION & EXIST!!!

I tried to make devilled eggs for an event and ended up peeling pasture raised eggs that behaved like they had trust issues. I aged them, iced them and begged them. Still got a doz of boiled FrakenEggs.

I wanted perfect (old habits die hard!😬). Then I remembered no one cares what they look like if they taste good. I let go like Elsa the Disney ice princess!!

This is the same thing I see with women chasing perfect health habits. Perfect health routine. Perfect food. Perfect follow through. One rough day and you think you blew it🤗.

You do not need perfect. You need steady. Small steps that fit your real life and calm your system👣.

If your health feels a bit like these eggs, messy but trying, you are still on track! Drop an egg emoji if you are a perfectionist and know it is something you want to challenge, so you can give your body the space to heal. 🥚

FINALLY STOPPED PAYING RENT💸🤑😆🫣

So many tasks have been living rent free in my head for months 😅!! This one finally got evicted.

I arrived for my first solo break in 12 months (no kids, no dog, no hubby…just meeeee!)… and spent my first hour upon arrival cleaning my car that looked like it had been raided by a pack of wild gerbils 🐹🚗✨

Not the dreamy start I pictured, but my brain felt lighter right away🧘‍♀️.

Clutter keeps your system on alert🚨.
Your eyes scan the mess.
Your brain tracks the unfinished jobs.
Your body reads it as pressure.
That pressure sits in your neck, your gut, your mood and your sleep😵‍💫.

Clearing one pocket of chaos tells your system it can settle.
Your breath drops, your shoulders loosen, and your mind stops buzzing.

Next on my eviction list: my computer desktop, inbox overhaul and pile of subscriptions to axe 💻🧹

But first, a break for some kai and a cheeky well deserved drink 🍹😌

PEEVED OFF WITH PEANUT BUTTER NUTELLA😠🥜🍫

It makes my blood 🩸 boil (no pun intended) when I see doctors tell women that skipping their period on the pill is healthy.

Your body runs on a 🎵 . A woman’s cycle moves through a chain of signals that keep everything in sync. When you ⛔️ that cycle, you interrupt a process your body relies on. Over time that can throw things off in bigger ways😕.

SLAYING THE SUGAR CRAVING DRAGON🥲🗡️🐲

Last night I got myself to bed early, then my little one was up from 1 to 4 a.m with radiating ear pain😣. I was stumbling around in my blue blockers trying to read my homeopathic remedy labels with one eye open🫩, kicked my husband to the guest room🦵, and rubbed El’s back till she finally slept.

Today I was wrecked. The sugar cravings were loud and honestly made sense after a night like that.

If this is your mum life too, you are not broken. One rough night can throw your blood sugar off fast.
