I am the owner of Airmid L.E.

working as a qualified Naturopath since 2005. Also an Integrative Registered Nurse for over 20 years, I use my knowledge and judgement to assess the health needs of the individual to provide care, advice and support giving balance to their health. I am also an ACC provider. The Health Clinic, where mind and body are treated to find whole-being wellness. Working in partnership with you to help you take control of your life again. The mind programmes the brain and the brain can not think without motor function. Therefore the mind should be the servant not the master. I treat both at Airmid. I offer nutritional support: Nutritional support can be given by first assessing the individuals dietary intake and daily activities. Then adapting a programme to suit the individual. Well-being massage: Massage (including Trigger Point Therapy) aims to reduce pain, increase flexibility and helps relaxation to give improved sleep and aid healing. Homeobotanical remedies: Homebotanical remedies are derived from several herbs selected to treat the same conditions, signs or symptoms. They are individually made for each client then activated to release their full potential. They can be adjusted for optimum benefit. Reflexology: Reflexology is massage on the feet. It is believed that each area on the feet relates to different areas of the body and so by working on these regions it benefits other body parts. Initial consult is 90 minutes which consists of health history assessment, treatment and herbal remedy. Follow up appointments are 60 minutes.

Spending at Christmas

This time of year, we all tend to send more than we planned. We stretch the budget to get gifts and extra luxuries.

Also, the extra activities occupy more of our valuable time.
For me, I think I could spend less money and learn to share my time wisely.

Giving the gift of time to family, close friends and more importantly ourselves.

Our thoughts on ageing.

A while ago, I posted about ageing and how it affects our ability to keep fit.

Today I thought we could chat about how our thoughts in general about getting older influence how we communicate with words, our fashion decisions and even our thoughts.

How do we perceive ourselves as we age? Do we tell ourselves that “I'm 50 now, I can't do this activity or dress like that any more?”

Or do we see older people and say they're too old to be doing that or wearing that style?
Maybe it would be good to remember that our thoughts programme our brains.

Basically, what we think strongly influences our actions and communication with the outside world.

So why can't we wear what makes us feel good, do activities which elevate our vitality?

Stress or pressure

Our views differ depending on our experiences.
Pressure helps some people to stretch themselves and achieve more, but for others that pressure is too much and causes stress or mental tension that leads to overwhelming thoughts, deprived sleep, nausea, headache, and even mood swings.
It can cause undue pressure on relationships at home and in work.
Occasionally we can't find the way out because the thoughts and feelings seem to swim around and around.
When this happens, what do we do?
Some people have their coping mechanisms and others call on the help of friends, while others seek help from professionals.

Sleep

Deep, restorative sleep is part of our daily requirements.
The same as food, drink, and shelter.

We take it for granted until we're not getting enough.
Then all sorts of unpleasant situations can happen.

We get grumpy, irritable, accident-prone and unable to concentrate. That's only the tip of the iceberg.
Far more serious are the long-term effects of insomnia, not only on the individual but to those around us.

There are countless research studies on this subject, and it is a very intriguing topic, however,
each of us has first-hand knowledge of how it makes us feel and behave.

Changeable

Spring is definitely here, and we've had some warm, fine weather, however, just as we get the first public holiday in a while it's turned cold, windy and raining.

Unfortunate but not uncommon, and certainly, there's not much we can do about it. It reminds me of life in general. One minute everything is going as planned then out of the blue the situation changes, and we're left with upheaval and dismay or surprise, at the very least.

We need to learn the art of flexibility and the ability to be nimble.
With these skills, we can be more content, less anxious and ready to adapt.

Priorities

We all have situations in life that are important to us.
This can be very different from person to person whether it be family, social life, physical health, diet or mental well-being.

Remember that if it is significant to us then it matters and we could try to highlight it.

Move.

A lot of us have jobs in which we sit for long periods of time. At the end of the day, we are often mentally tired; however, we may find it difficult to get good quality sleep at night. We either have trouble falling asleep or wake up in the middle of the night and just can't get back to sleep.
I've found, over the years, that when we exercise our bodies regularly it helps in many different ways and rebalances the body and mind.
We become fitter, gain more energy, increase our endorphins which reduces stress and improves our mood. This can help increase quality of asleep and help us cope with the daily tasks in life.

Ageing gracefully

What does that mean?
For me, ageing is inevitable.
We all do it every day, but I think growing old is more a state of mind.

It does start with the mind.
How we perceive ourselves. How we worry about what other people think about us.

Obviously, our bodies age, but that doesn't mean we should stop moving them. We can still keep fit and active, we just may need to adapt our activities.
