Fakaalofa lahi atu kia mutolu oti,

Ko e aho nei ke lata mo tau tama taute Tryathlon.

Kaukau to hake bisikala ti fakaoti moe tufi poi.

Today we took part in the South Auckland leg of the event and what a day it was.

What an amazing turnout, so many kids from different schools including some from outside the region as well which was great to see.

Highlight for me was seeing a family with a large Niue 🇳🇺 masini flying high so whoever you were, you beat us with our A4 size flag but so good to see. And, of course seeing the kids carry the Niue 🇳🇺 and making more memories. 🥰

Next one, hope to see more of our tama Niue 🇳🇺 participating in the event particularly the South Auckland.

Thank you to the organisers, sponsors and endless volunteers who helped put the event together as always, another one added to the calendar. 📅

See you next year Tagata Niue 🇳🇺

Fakaaue lahi / Thanks heaps,

Fakaalofa lahi atu kia mutolu oti,

Ko e aho fakamanatu Pulefakamotu ha Niue i Niu Silani.

We wrap up Niue 🇳🇺 Language Week with the 51st Niue Constitution Celebration Day here in Aotearoa, NZ & in the mighty capital of South Auckland, Mangere.

Another great event by the respective leaders and great to see the young ones in their outfits for their performances.

A lot of food 🍱 Niue 🇳🇺 delicacies, I ran off with my Falaoa Niu / Coconut Bread 🍞 and my daughter got her Chop Suey fix 😋

Great to see all the Niue 🇳🇺 people with all their stalls showcasing and celebrating their great work on display for this great day.

I hope one day we can all band together as one for a massive “ONE DAY” event to showcase our culture, our Taoga, our food, our arts & crafts and tokoluga our is motu is.

Until then…

“lali ke lagaki he motu ha tautolu, ke iloa he tau motu kehekehe ko Niue ko e motu fulufuluola” ❤️

Enjoy the rest of the celebrations ma tau kapitiga.

Fakaaue lahi / Thanks heaps,

Fakaalofa lahi atu kia mutolu oti,

Ko e kupu koe magafaoa ha tautolu e aho nei.

Lali ke kau fakalataha tumau moe magafoa.

Pese ni ko e tau puhala kehe lali kaia he magafaoa ke feleveia mai mo e matua fifine nei.

If you follow me on my personal page then you would’ve seen this post but it’s simple post, nothing technical, yet simple.

Magafaoa the word translated in English - Family.

This is the Vagahau Niue translation for Family.

This is my magafaoa. This is my family.

Even though we’ve all had a different pathway to each other we are still bound together as a Family - Magafaoa.

We’re connected.

Because we’re family.

Ko e magafaoa haaku.

Magafaoa - Family.

Kua ai nimo he magafaoa / Never forget your family.

Fakaalofa lahi atu ma tau matakainga oti nei,

Kia Monuina he tau gahua kehe kehe.

Kia Monuina he tau puhala kehe kehe.

When I attend corporate conferences, events and networking functions probably one of the key aspects I’m disappointed about is NOT coming across a Tagata Niue or Pasifika person(s).

It’s NOT the reason I do it because I’m driven by the need of providing for my family and ensuring I can have an impact within the industry I work in.

It’s just interesting because I am proud to be a Tagata Niue and the whole purpose of The Niue Project is to grow our profile as a culture and as people.

I’m still gobsmacked that I still don’t come across many other Tagata Niue but I am always optimistic in the way that I am.

It would be great to see more and more of Tagata Niue because I’ll be honest, I’m in envy of other ethnic groups particularly when they thrived in the masses.

Thats why it’s important for us to branch out and grow as people and always remember our journey won’t change our direction & path.

When you branch out, you also are complemented by opportunities to meet and network with all types of people and backgrounds.

If you follow my personal & professional page, you’ll see I’ve got the same picture/post.

I got the opportunity to meet and ask some questions of Sir Ian Taylor, a well-known NZ Businessman/TV presenter.

What Sir Ian Taylor had to talk about to many sales people and business owners present was around establishing and leading trend(s) rather than focusing on disrupting status quo.

It was a great opportunity to be apart of the event and listen into the guest speakers, soon it will be me, could be alot of us, if you’re persistent and strategic enough.

Fakaaue lahi kia koe ma tau lilifu Sir Ian Taylor.

Fakaalofa lahi atu ma tau matakainga oti,

Koe faofao tino moe lagaki mamafa mafiti ke lata moe taima.

Probably the longest explanation for functional fitness / CrossFit.

Didn’t get compete at this years competition as slowly still on the mend after a meniscus tear at the 2023 inaugural competition

Didn’t get time to see the Niue athletes do their thing but they did very well and all I can is congratulations and sentiments to your hard work

Well said in terms of putting Niue on the map and the underdogs tag as it’s always a battle trying to establish ourselves with dominance against our brother and sister nations.

All I’ve got to say is “don’t settle for less” and “be bold to take on anyone no matter what” we’re all human at the end of the day.

Congratulations to the podium winners and all the best for training for the year.

As Lynn said, keep up the great work and good listening in tonight .news 😊🇳🇺👏

Fakaalofa lahi atu kia mutolu oti,

Kia Monuina e Kilisimasi / Merry Christmas 🎄

Koe aho fiafiaaga he magafaoa nei.

We got to celebrate Christmas with the family today officially with a few missing from our gathering.

We hope everyone had an amazing Christmas celebrations.

One of the best things with Christmas is the food and in particular the Niue food & my favourite today was mums “Polo Punu with the Taro in it” 😋

Honestly, no bias but the Niue Taro is the best 💯

One of the brothers had made of the best tasting chopsueys I’ve had in a very long time so thanks my bro!

Fakaaue lahi foki ma mum.

Refresh of the food;
1) Polo Punu with Taro - Niue Spinach, Canned Corned Beef, Coconut Cream and Niue Taro

2) Chopsuey - Vermicelli, Soy Sauce, Chopped Chicken, Chopped Onion, Salt & Pepper

Good food 😋

Hope everyone’s geared up to break in the New Year as we lead into the Tau Foou / New Year 😊

Enjoy the festive holiday ahead, be safe, drive safe & and leave your friends at home particularly the ones that can’t dance 🕺💃🏽

Fakaaue lahi / Thanks heaps,

You don’t have to be Tagata Niue to attend, if you’re keen on the best island food head down tomorrow and take heaps of money 💰 with you to get the goods.

Fakaalofa lahi atu kia mutolu oti,

Kia Monuina kehe tau gahua he tau takitaki mai e tutula nei ke lata moe tau Fuata Niue nei.

I just want to say it was a pleasure to be apart of this event tonight in respect of the brother Kano + listening into our perspectives growing up as a Tagata Niue 🇳🇺

I just want to say it was great to sit and listen into the Fuata Niue 🇳🇺 that spoke and shared their experiences 💯

You shared some great insights but respectfully demonstrated your own current experiences, journeys, in terms of your aspirations, directions and motivations for your Vagahau Niue & your cultural identities.

Love to you brothers, our Tau Taane Niue 🇳🇺

A key take home message for all our Fuata Niue is to be ambitious, courageous & confident enough to push boundaries, don’t settle for less, it’s ok to be selfish in life because you’ll only ever be successful if you focus on what you need to do.

Appreciate it ma tau Toa’s and grateful 🥰🇳🇺🙌🏽

Fakaalofa lahi atu ma tau kapitiga oti,

Koe “Aho Falaile” he aho nei / It is Friday today.

As we continue our celebrations and showcasing of Faahi Tapu Vagahau Niue 🇳🇺 it’s been great to see our culture and language being embraced across the board.

We had mum stay over with this week and the best thing with Niue Grandma staying is that the kids get to embrace the culture.

Isla is so inquisitive that she was adamant she wanted to continue learning the art of weaving.

Mum was very impressed and we were impressed by the interest and intent of wanting to learn at the age of 7.

So continue on your path and journey of awareness, embracing & learning your culture at all levels.

Remember…
