FATS ✨

Fats often get a bad rap with myths they lead to heart disease, cause weight gain and will generally make you unhealthy.

However, we’re here to tell you the above is not entirely true. Not all fats are created equally and when choosing the right type (oily fish, nuts, seeds, avocado, coconut, olive oil, olives), they can actually lead to many health benefits! These include;

✔️ Ensuring our fat-soluble vitamins are absorbed (important nutrients for vision, immunity, bone health and so much more!)
✔️ Providing a feeling of ‘satiation’
✔️ Improving mood, mental health, reducing inflammation, and supporting some women's health conditions (when choosing omega-3)
✔️ Playing a critical role in fetal brain growth and development, during pregnancy

So, pretty important right!

Here at TWS, we recommend our clients include 1-2 tbsp of healthy fats in each of their main meals, either during the cooking process or by adding them to meals!

Our nut/seed combos are also the perfect way of getting in your goodness (whilst boosting the flavour profile too!)

1/3 cup roasted walnuts
1/3 cup roasted almonds (sliced)
1/3 cup chia seeds
1/3 cup desiccated cinnamon OR cinnamon flakes
1-2tsp cinnamon (to taste)

🥗 Super Seeds Combo - pic #2
(sprinkle onto your salads, eggs!)

1/2 cup pumpkin seeds
1/2 cup sunflower seeds
1/4 cup sesame seeds
1 tsp ground cumin

Store in airtight containers and they’ll last for weeks!

Endometriosis quick fire 🔥

✨ 1 in 10 women in NZ currently live with endo
✨ Occurs when tissue similar to the lining of the uterus grows elsewhere.
✨ This tissue responds to reproductive hormones in the same way and grows and sheds each month (in line with a menstrual cycle)
✨ Extremely painful, often resulting in GI concerns, inflammation, and in some cases infertility
✨Diagnosis can be extremely delayed (up to 8yrs after the onset of symptoms!)

We’ve provided 5 tips when it comes to improving bowel health and inflammation. However, please note that these are general tips and are intended to provide a starting place when it comes to making lifestyle changes.

Often we’re fixated on the “end goal” or where we need to “get to” that we forget to reflect on all the small changes we are already implementing or where we initially started!

Today, we challenge you to take a moment to think about your progress and celebrate this! Smile at yourself, fist pump, do a celebration dance or simply allow yourself to have the warm fuzzies!

And if you feel you’re yet to start on your journey, it’s not too late! Take a moment to think about one small thing you could do today - It might be taking the stairs instead of the lift, swapping that 3pm cookie for an apple, drinking an extra glass of water! It all adds up ✨

Look no further! Here are our top tips to boost your immunity this winter!

1. 70% of our immune system can be found in our gut (!) 👀 so make sure to nourish it with pre (grains, fruit, vege) and probiotics (fermented foods such as kimchi, miso, sourdough, kombucha) !

2. Loading up vitamin C can help to reduce the length and severity of winter bugs (but only when enough vitamin C is consumed ahead of being sick!)

3. Staying hydrated will help to flush those bugs out of your system quick smart!

4. Get some rest and reduce your stress hormones! We know that we tend to get run down when we are exhausted.

5. Soak up the vitamin D from the sun! This plays a huge role in optimising our immune system!

Did you know the way we speak/ the way we use our words can have huge repercussions on our actions?
More often than not it can also make the difference between whether we do/don’t follow through with different tasks/changes we’ve set out to do (ie that pesky washing that’s needed folding for 2 days now!)

Today we challenge you to make a note of the words you’re using in your conversations/in your mind/when you’re journaling - if any of the phrases on the left start to sneak in, try rephrasing! We’d love to hear the difference it makes (we guarantee it will make one 😉)
