A nice message from a patient in the Mandarin Post, about their treatment at Handwork's

"I had seriously injured my finger on my left hand in Oct 2020.
My daughter took me to White Cross at Stonefields where I had an x ray.
I had fractured my finger. My GP referred me to See Angela at Handworks St Johns (Glen Innes).
Under Angela’s patient and detailed care, my fractured finger improved.
I also had a wonderful team of nurses, regardless of rain or shine, visited me twice a week and (on time) to change my dressing and to provide a great level of care."

Handworks COVID update:

After we move to Level 4 tonight, all Handworks clinic will be closed for face to face appointments.

We are still able to complete Telehealth appointments!
All patients who already have an appointment will be contacted by there therapist to organize this, and new patients can contact us on 5297461.

Where possible it is a good to keep your appointment. While it may be limited by lack of face to face contact, we can often still help, or at least prevent issues developing down the track. Even if it is just some advice as to how to proceed!

Handworks is seeking a keen and motivated Therapist to join our highly experienced and committed team of hand therapists.
The ideal candidate would be a Registered Hand Therapist who is a great team player and looking for a full time position. However, for the right candidate, a training position would be offered. We would be looking for a trainee who has an enquiring mind and is keen to learn and grow in every aspect of patient care.

We have a funded, well structured, supervised training programme for those on the pathway to registration, including formal teaching and supervised practice. Ongoing supervision continues for as long as required by the trainee.

Handworks has been providing an expert Hand Therapy service to Central and Eastern Auckland for more than 20 years and is proud of our team and the quality service we provide. We strive for excellence in all aspects of patient care and all therapists work together to enhance and challenge each other’s clinical practice. We have Hand Surgeons working closely, both onsite and close by, and we value a warm association with them that enhances patient outcomes.

Handworks COVID-19 update:

As of tomorrow (Monday 31st of August) our clinics will be open for face to face appointments again.

We will be opening with a number of procedures in place to help protect our patients, our therapists and our community from COVID-19.

All therapists will be wearing masks, and will undergo a vigorous cleaning process between patients.

Patients will also be required to wear a mask to their appointment. Please bring your own. If you do not have one, we have disposable masks available for purchase for $3.

If any of the following apply to you, please reschedule your appointments as soon as possible:
- If you have been feeling unwell with any flu like symptoms in the last 48 hours.
- If you are awaiting results of a COVID-19 test, or have been in contact with any known or suspected cases in the last 14 days.
- If you have returned or been in contact with someone who has returned from overseas in the last 14 days.

You must NOT attend our facility if you, or someone close to you answered yes to ANY of the above questions.

Should you prefer a telehealth appointment, we will be continuing to provide this service and believe it is a valuable option if you are sick, vulnerable or otherwise unable to attend your appointment.

Handworks COVID update:

After friday's announcement that Auckland will remain in Level 3 until the 26th of August, Handworks face to face operations will remain limited.

While we need to stay home to help stop the spread of COVID-19, we don't want to leave you in the lurch. We're still here to give you a hand (pun intended). See below for information on our operations.

-Handworks will be available for Telehealth consults via Zoom video calling for both new and follow up patients.
-Handworks will be open for contactless collection of "off the shelf" splints. This needs to be organised via telehealth with your therapist.
-Handworks will be open for face to face consults for urgent post operative visits.

Please note-
ACC injuries will be fully covered.
Private injuries-$50.

If you already have an appointment during this period, your therapist will be in touch with you over the coming days via phone or email.

We hope everyone in Auckland is doing well given the move back to level 3. As has been said a repeatedly over the past 24 hours, we've done this before and we can do it again.

Our clinics will be closed for face to face appointments today (Thursday 13/8/20) and tomorrow. If you had an appointment on these days, a therapist will be in touch to organize a telehealth appointment or help you to rebook.

We will keep you updated as things change.

Awesome to see where finger prosthetic's are going! Naked Prosthetics came in a few weeks ago to give us a run down of there products.

They make prosthetic's for a range of finger amputations, that are incredibly intuitive to use, helping to regain some strength and dexterity after loosing a digit.
