Our new Summer Menu has arrived — and it’s full of delicious additions to brighten the season! Enjoy the fresh crunch of our Panzanella Salad, the zing of a Chicken Torpedo, the classic comfort of a Cheese Burger, or the tasty goodness of a Salmon Bagel.

🚧✨ Wait… what’s missing?

If your morning drive felt strangely peaceful recently, don’t worry — you’re not imagining things.

After nearly three years of dodging, weaving, slowing down, and questioning your life choices… the road cones have vanished.

Overnight. P**f. Gone.

🎄✨ A Festive Treat from MOSAIC Choir! 🎶

We were delighted to welcome MOSAIC, Cambridge’s wonderful unauditioned community choir, for a special sneak preview of their Christmas performance. This joyful group brings together people of all ages, cultures, and walks of life — all united by one thing: a pure love of singing!

Their beautiful harmonies and festive spirit gave us a taste of what’s to come at the Cambridge Christmas Festival Performance on Tuesday, 2 December at the Cambridge Town Hall.

What a privilege to hear their long list of Christmas favourites before the big event. Thank you, MOSAIC, for filling Te Awa with music and Christmas magic! 🎶❤️

🚴‍♀️ Inspiring Visit from Miriam Ellis! 🌟

We were delighted to welcome Miriam Ellis from Cy-Co The Cycle Coffee Company, who biked out to Te Awa to share stories from her trip to Pontevedra, Spain, where she competed in her (very young!) age group at the World Triathlon 2025 Multisport Championships.

With a race plan to “finish in one piece with a smile,” she absolutely nailed it. Miriam radiates joy — always helping, always giving, always cheering others on. It was heart-warming to hear how Cambridge rallied behind her, with her son proudly acting as her crew.

Her message? Never let fear stand in the way of your dreams. Life is short — grab every opportunity with both hands. 💛

🏓 Table Tennis Champs in the Making! 😄

There’s never a dull moment in the Care Centre — especially when Marianne and Heather pick up the table tennis paddles! These two have become quite the dynamic duo, rallying back and forth with impressive skill (and plenty of laughter in between).

Their friendly matches draw a crowd — because who wouldn’t want to watch the unofficial Te Awa Table Tennis Pros in action? Go, ladies! 👏💙

🌿🦜 Discovering the Magic of Sanctuary Mountain Maungatautari

Our villagers were treated to an inspiring visit from Don of Sanctuary Mountain Maungatautari, who shared the remarkable story behind this special place right on our doorstep.

Sanctuary Mountain is one of the largest pest-proof fenced ecological sanctuaries in the world, a protected haven where native birds, plants, and wildlife can thrive just as they did centuries ago. Thanks to the incredible conservation work happening there, species like kākā, takahē, and korimako are flourishing in a safe, predator-free environment.

Don’s passion for restoring Aotearoa’s natural heritage had everyone captivated, and many left feeling eager to explore the maunga for themselves.

A huge thank you to Don for spreading the magic of this truly local treasure! 🌏💚

✨🎄 Spotted: Christmas Spirit on Wheels! 🎄✨

Some people count down the days… and some people decide that waiting is overrated and go full Christmas mode right now!

One of our festive enthusiasts has officially blinged out the back of their vehicle, ensuring that everywhere they go, Christmas cheer follows closely behind — like Santa’s sleigh with better suspension. 🚗💫

If you hear jingles in the carpark, don’t worry… it’s just the holiday spirit arriving early!

🎳 Bowling Fun at Te Awa Lifecare! 🎳

Our care residents had an absolute blast at our latest bowling session! There’s nothing like a bit of friendly competition, lots of laughter, and a whole lot of cheering to brighten the day.

And of course — in every group there’s always that one person who “knows exactly how the game should be played” and keeps the running commentary going… all in good humour, of course! 😄 It made the afternoon even more entertaining.

We love seeing our residents enjoying activities together and creating moments filled with joy, connection, and plenty of giggles. 💛

🥊 Ending the Week on a High Note! 🥊

We wrapped up the week with a fantastic achievement — John Strang, one of our care residents, took out the title of Best Boxer! 👏💪

Our boxing sessions are always a highlight. They’re a brilliant way for residents to keep moving — arms pumping, waist twisting, reflexes firing — all while having a whole lot of fun. It’s amazing to see everyone floating like a butterfly and stinging like a bee! 🦋🐝

Congratulations, John! You brought great energy, determination, and plenty of smiles to the session. What a way to finish the week!

🌍 Storytelling at Its Finest! 🌍

This week, our Ladies Chat Group was treated to an incredible session led by our very own resident, Joyce. She shared fascinating stories from her travels to the Congo, taking us on a journey through vibrant culture, breathtaking landscapes, and unforgettable moments from her time abroad.

Her warmth, humour, and sense of adventure had everyone captivated - it’s not every day we get to hear first-hand tales from such an extraordinary part of the world!

Thank you, Joyce, for inspiring us with your courage, curiosity, and wonderful storytelling. 💛
