Climbing requires strength, agility and mobility in order to move from hold to hold effectively.

Osteopathic treatment can help with injuries or imbalances in your joints, muscles, ligaments and nerves, can reduce pain and discomfort, and speed up recovery from injury. Osteopaths use gentle but direct techniques to increase joint mobility and muscle flexibility.

Sprains are a very common issue that osteopaths treat.

An ankle sprain involves damage to the ankle ligaments and tendons, typically caused by simple sudden traumatic incidents, such as rolling or twisting the ankle.

Your osteopath can assist in the rehabilitation of an ankle sprain with soft tissue treatment to promote optimal stability and range of motion. They will also usually prescribe mobility exercises to restore the normal range of motion to the foot and ankle.

As young female bodies mature, hormonal changes can cause pain, stress and discomfort. Often the symptoms and discomfort increase as we then transition through perimenopause and menopause.

Osteopathic treatments can target multiple organs and structural components affected by menstrual disorders. It is a holistic and gentle way to ease tension, maintain strong mobility and assist in alleviating menstrual-related discomfort.

A long weekend is not far away.

With next Friday being Canterbury Anniversary Day, we won't have as many appointments available as usual.

Along with going to the races or taking in the sights and sounds of the A & P Show, it could be a good time to book an appointment.

October 29 is World Stroke Day

This year's theme, set by the World Stroke Organization (WSO), is , highlighting the life-saving importance of knowing the signs of stroke and acting F.A.S.T.

F.A.S.T. encourages everyone to learn the signs of stroke and get immediate help: Face drooping, Arm weakness, Speech difficulties and Take action - call 111.

The sooner medical treatment begins, the lower the risk that permanent brain damage occurs. Treatments like clot-busting drugs, for example, only work in the first few hours. Every minute counts. In some cases, it means that damage can be completely reversed.

Treatments such as soft tissue and myofascial release, as well as exercise and mobilisation techniques are some of the ways that osteopathy can support people who are recovering from stroke.
