What an amazing day at the Christchurch Donor Centre!

The WeLoveU Foundation team filled NZBlood’s Lester Lane centre last week with an amazing vibe and energy. Throughout the visit their team vests, blood drop cartoons, and commitment to save lives were unmissable.

WeLoveU teams regularly donate blood and plasma in Christchurch and around the world. This visit included 17 new donors and 7 donors trying plasma for the first time. Wow! An incredible group of people from a range of nationalities, coming together with one goal: to help save lives and make a positive impact in the community. Thank you for giving your time and love to help others – we thoroughly enjoyed hosting you and look forward to seeing you again soon.

This week we said kia ora and sawasdee khrap สวัสดีครับ to Pramaha Santi, Pramaha Sudchai, and Pramaha Suriyasak when they donated plasma at NZBlood’s Lester Lane centre.

This remarkable group of Buddhist monks travel frequently around New Zealand and the world, donating as they go. Having donated in Dunedin, Christchurch, Epsom, Manukau, and Hamilton, the next donation venues on their list are Wellington and USA.

Spiritual leaders within their community, their dedication to giving is founded in the Buddhist practice of tam boon or doing good deeds, and the principles of karma, compassion, and ethical conduct.

Khop khun khrap ขอบคุณครับ, ngā mihi nui, and thank you very much for being lifesavers.

We look forward to seeing you again soon.

Vampires typically spend their eternal lives nourishing themselves with the blood of mortals. However, Henry and Mango who are members of the Christchurch Cacophony Society broke their bloodsuckers code and became lifesavers by donating blood today.

It was no easy task extracting blood from them but NZBlood’s own Indiana Jones whipped them into shape. We can neither confirm nor deny whether garlic, sunlight, crucifixes, and wooden stakes were used to keep them focused on giving blood instead of taking it!

Thanks so much Henry and Mango, we hope to see you donating again soon, before Halloween 2026!

We're celebrating the extraordinary milestone of 100 blood donations from one of our incredible donors, Robyn. Congratulations and thank you Robyn for helping save or improve the lives of around 300 people through your generous donations.

Robyn shared that her inspiration came from her mother, who began donating blood at 16 years old. Following in her footsteps, Robyn has displayed truly admirable commitment and dedication to helping others.

Thanks again, Robyn! You’re a real-life hero.

NZBlood Christchurch is open tomorrow Friday 24 October.

Due to the state of emergency in Canterbury, NZBlood’s donor centres in Christchurch will be closed on Thursday 23 October.
The blood drive at Russley Golf Club has also been postponed. Please stay safe and we look forward to seeing you soon for a lifesaving donation.

Our recruitment team had the privilege of attending a Hauora event at Te Wānanga o Aotearoa, where we offered blood typing and inspired new donors to take the next step and book their first donation.

A special shoutout to the amazing Ara Institute of Canterbury nursing student who joined us — she slotted right in with the team and brought great energy to the day!
