Simply Nourish

Simply Nourish Menopause doesn't need to be a struggle! All these roles have helped to shape the person I am and values I hold. Brenda

At Simply Nourish, my goal is to support you to feel strong, energised, and confident — with nutrition and lifestyle changes that helps you age well, feel great, and ready to take on this next chapter of life x Hi my name is Brenda Bickerstaff and like many of you, my life has taken on many roles; daughter, sister, wife, mother, auntie, friend, teacher, sports coach and colleague. I have always understood and advocated the importance of eating well and exercising for health, even if during large portions of my life I did not practice what I encouraged those around me to do. As many women who hold many roles know, putting yourself first does not come easy as you focus on nurturing those around you first. It was not until my children had grown and I was in the menopausal transition stage of life, that I realised that I had to look after myself first and fill my glass right up to the rim (and a little overflowing) so I could live a life filled with health, strength, adventures and reaching my potential. As a food and nutrition teacher, I’ve spent years educating teens about the importance of eating well. However, it was a series of personal transformations, including fat loss, strength gain and removing alcohol from my life, that truly ignited my passion to help other women so they could be the best versions of themselves, whilst navigating the menopausal transition years. With clarity of mind and driven by focusing on my values and the new ‘why’ in my life, I studied hard and became a certified and registered nutritionist and menopause coach. Through education, evidence-based strategies, empowerment, and support, I’m committed to helping women nourish their bodies and embrace the changes of menopause with a healthy mindset, a strong, energized body, and a renewed sense of purpose so we can all live long and fulfilling lives.

We are all learning the importance of getting enough protein as we hit midlife and menopausal transition.

But as we reach for that instant hit of protein from a shake, we are also getting a big hit of unwanted sugar!

Free sugars contribute nothing positive to our bodies and during meno, sugar causes unwanted inflammation and unwanted belly fat (as well as other issues).

Upstanding label’s so we know what we are actually consuming is paramount in supporting and attaining good health.

#1 tip for long term fat loss is to …

Eat more!

I know, it sounds crazy BUT eating too little is not a long term sustainable solution! You may have that initial weight loss but it’s more than likely not fat you’re losing but other stuff you actually don’t want to lose, eg muscle (come back muscle!) ☹️

Eating the right nutrients and eating the right amount for your individual needs is where success starts 😊

Not sure where to start? Contact me for a chat and let’s see if I’m the right person to support you make the changes you need to make to reach your goals 💟

Carbs aren’t your enemy

🍝 Homemade pasta doesn’t have properties to reduced inflammation but heck it has lots of enjoyment properties. Don’t forget food shouldn’t always be be about restriction or perfection, it should also be about enjoyment and nourishment 😍🤩

Grazie Clotilde from for the fantastic lesson in making true Italian pasta
