A reminder that our bodies are not problems to solve, but portals to attune to. Conscious Dance, Mindful-Somatic Therapy, Trauma-Informed Bodywork. Kia ora koutou, I am a local dance-artist, teacher & massage therapist with a life-long journey in movement and the body. Originally I trained Unitec in Contemporary Dance in Auckland & then began following my own path exploring different embodied movement, dance, cultural & somatic practices. I worked with some beautiful teachers and mentors here in Aotearoa and also in Melbourne & Tokyo, where I learnt about myself, how to listen to my body and followed what interested me! I had a great time, and now back in Dunedin I love sharing part of that journey. I am passionate about how dance, movement and the body can unlock amazing things- it has given me clarity on my identity, strength and a sense of home in my body and landscape, it has given me tools to ground and calm anxiousness, it has given me a sense of wonder for the natural world, it has opened my eyes and changed my mind about individuals I pre-judged or cultures I misunderstood. I am still learning, & I believe there is so much that can be gained from engaging our bodies in motion or stillness. There are so many unique contexts that can offer rich fruits for the not only the body, but the mind and soul too. I invite you to come and dance with me, try a class if you wish, I aim to create a safe space that welcomes all. This page will keep you up-to-date on what I currently have on offer- jams, classes, workshops, performances and other events. If you'd like to see a full bio of my teaching experience and qualifications, please flick me a message or see my co-creation with Jooske Honig- the Embodiment Collective on facebook or go to our website.
