Hils' Art

Hils' Art Hi all. Thanks for visiting my page. I'm only new to the painting world after having to give up my day job due to a bout of ME.

Painting landscapes is great therapy and ensures I've always got a room with a view.

My stall at the Geraldine Arts and Plants. It was a filthy, wet day but well worth the effort. Thanks to everyone who stopped by, especially those bearing hot coffee! All remaining paintings are in my photo album 'Paintings for sale'.

Here's some progression pics of 'Muzzle'. Sold to Alpine Energy at the Arts and Plants Fest.

The sketches were taken while on a walk well above the Rangitata Gorge. A rugged landscape torn in half by a mighty river.

It's been a while! Here's a pic of my last commission of a friend's farm, it's the really lush green bit in the middle. Four Peaks is the mountain range that forms the back drop to Geraldine. A view from the farm at Westerfield, Ashburton

You can't paint a landscape from mid canterbury without having an irrigator in it!
I have just finished this one for a friend who farms up the road. I've tried to capture the beautiful graduated sky that you get when the sun is very low and the wide sweeping vista from Geraldine's Four Peak range all the way to Mount Hutt. I had to use the longest canvas I could find!

Thank you all so much for the primo feedback! It's really motivating. Always handy to get some other opinions as the dog keeps her thoughts to herself.
