We were delighted to participate in and sponsor another Relay for Life event held this last weekend. The ceremony, which included candle lighting, provided a moment to reflect on those who have passed away. We were lucky enough to head up to see Ed Sheeran for our wedding anniversary 💛
It was incredibly humbling to hear him talk about the song Eyes Closed.

Ed shared how he received a call telling him that his close friend Jamal had died suddenly. He spoke about the disbelief, the feeling that he would still see him again — and how it wasn’t until he attended Jamal's funeral that the reality truly set in. As painful as that moment was, it marked the beginning of being able to move forward on his grief journey.

It really stayed with me. It’s humbling to be reminded that the way we guide and support families in our care does matter, and that it can genuinely help people take those first steps through grief. 💭💙

Last Thursday we held our annual Christmas Remembrance service, a touching celebration of life and love, led by local celebrants and ministers. It was a deeply moving time to reflect, remember and honor the family and friends that are no longer with us.

Thank you to those who joined us on the night in person and via the livestream.
We are truly thankful to be building a loving and supportive community as we continue to support and care for our community who entrust us with their precious loved ones who have passed.

For those who didn’t manage to make it, you are most welcome to call into our reception where our tree will remain and leave a message or simply the name of your loved one on. The recording of the service is still available on our website.
These will be available to anyone until the early January 2026.

Last week was a whirlwind for our team as some of them morphed into Christmas elves and had an absolute blast decorating our trees as we support the Christmas Tree Festival at the Christ Church Anglican Cathedral Nelson and again down at the Nelson Airport supporting the Nelson Tasman Hospice two fantastic places to check out some gorgeous trees in our community. Today marks six years of Alastair and Emma owning and running Shone & Shirley alongside our dedicated team. Each year, to celebrate this milestone, we’re honoured to support the incredible team at Nelson Tasman Hospice with a Day of Care. Lenore has been a pillar of strength for our Shone & Shirley family, consistently demonstrating extraordinary compassion for the families we care for over the last 3 plus years. We have also deeply valued the invaluable input and guidance you have provided as we have navigated growth and leaned on you for direction at times. We are thrilled that we managed to persuade you to stay on with us on a casual basis, so you may see her back with us from time to time.
