What would an 18.5 percent increase in lamb average daily gain mean for your system?

A recent Lincoln University trial has provided clear evidence of the productive advantages of AgriSea treated rye and clover. The study measured animal performance, pasture response, and metabolic markers, with several notable outcomes.

Key findings included:
• 18.5 percent higher ADG from lambing to weaning (385g/d vs 325g/d)
• An additional 4.8kg liveweight per lamb over an 80-day period
• $19.20 to $24 additional revenue per lamb, based on conservative store lamb values
• A net return of $146 to $204 per hectare after accounting for product input costs
• Ewes on treated pasture gained 89g/day, compared with 16g/day on untreated pasture
• NEFA levels were 39 percent lower in ewes on treated pasture, indicating reduced metabolic stress

These results highlight the role of AgriSea nutrition in improving animal performance, pasture function, and overall system resilience.

A breakthrough made right here in Paeroa

AgriSea has been featured on Seven Sharp for a world-first innovation. Our new biorefinery converts a seaweed byproduct into nanocellulose, a highly sought-after material with endless potential across industries from agriculture to healthcare.

This breakthrough transforms what was once a low-value byproduct into a sustainable, high-value material with exceptional properties. Tasteless, odourless, and naturally derived, nanocellulose can act as an environmentally friendly carrier for chemical and biological compounds, creating opportunities for cleaner, greener solutions across multiple sectors.

Silage off? Feed the whole paddock next. 🌿🐄

Before the summer heat really kicks in, now is the perfect window to add AgriSeas biostimulants to your pastoral program. After the mower leaves, plants and soil biology are hungry - this is when an AgriSea seaweed biostimulant boost pays off.

Why now?
Faster root rebound & tillering → natural auxins & cytokinins in seaweed support cell division and new shoots; alginates help root–soil contact for better anchoring.

Activate soil biology → polysaccharides (laminarin, alginic acids) and mannitol act as carbon food for beneficial microbes, helping them unlock existing nutrients in the soil.

Heat/dry stress support → betaines and mannitol act as osmoprotectants, helping plants hold water and perform better under hot, dry spells.

Better clover performance → trace elements and natural chelation aid nodulation & N-fixation.

Nutrient use efficiency → seaweed’s organic acids & natural chelates improve foliar uptake and keep nutrients available longer (less lock-up).

Soil moisture handling → alginates improve aggregate stability and water-holding, so pasture ticks over better between rains.

Whether it’s liquid or solid solutions, AgriSea has the products to get the most out of your pasture after you’ve taken a cut. Give us a call and we’ll sort a simple, farm-ready recommendation.

Building Momentum in New Zealand’s Bioeconomy

Key government leaders and science innovators came together to celebrate the progress being made within New Zealand’s growing bioeconomy sector.

The event featured Hon Dr Shane Reti, Hon Scott Simpson, Mark Piper, and Dr Stefan Hill, all highlighting the collaboration already underway, including the merger of the “Fantastic Four of the Bioeconomy”: AgResearch, Manaaki Whenua Landcare Research, Scion, and Plant & Food Research.

AgriSea was proud to share our partnership with Scion, where we’re scaling a Seaweed Nanocellulose Biorefinery to turn seaweed by-products into high-value materials for use in wound healing, filtration, cosmetics, batteries and more.

Circular bioeconomy in action, transforming waste into opportunity and science into sustainable solutions for land, people and the future.

Te Arawa Arataua Agribusiness Summit

Clare Bradley represented AgriSea at the Te Arawa Arataua Agribusiness Summit, an inspiring day bringing together leaders and innovators in the Māori agribusiness space.

The summit featured a strong line-up of speakers, including Hon Todd McClay, Nanaia Mahuta, Dr Tanira Kingi, and Clare herself, with Stacey Morrison as MC.

Te Arawa Arataua represents over 30,000 hectares of Māori-owned land, focused on new opportunities, optimising returns, and addressing challenges such as freshwater management and climate change, while supporting hapū and iwi development.

Clare’s kōrero reinforced the importance of collaboration, innovation, and sustainability, values that align closely with AgriSea’s ongoing commitment to caring for whenua and wai, and building resilience for future generations.

A big thank you to Dr Tanira Kingi and the Te Arawa Arataua team for their warm hosting and support.

From Sea to Table: A Vision of Zero-Input Ocean Farming

At this year’s Evoke Ag event in Australia, AgriSea’s Clare Bradley joined global ocean farming pioneer Bren Smith to explore the future of food and farming.

Bren’s vision reimagines how we grow food — not on land, but beneath the waves. His concept of 3D Ocean Farming creates underwater vertical farms that need no feed, no fertiliser, no fresh water, and no land. Just sunlight, seaweed, and shellfish working together in harmony with the ocean.

It’s a system that restores marine ecosystems while producing nutritious food, using nature’s own design. As water scarcity and climate pressures grow, the ocean could hold the key to a truly regenerative food future.

Watch Bren’s talk here:

Why Settle for Basic Soil Testing?

Most standard soil tests only show the bare minimum, such as pH, major cations, and a few key nutrients. What they miss is the real engine of your farm: the biological health of your soil.

AgriSea Soil Testing goes beyond chemistry to measure the biological activity and resilience of your soil.

Our tests reveal:
• How well your soil can retain nutrients and reduce leaching
• The link between carbon, organic matter, and soil life
• Micronutrient reserves that drive enzyme function, plant immunity, and productivity

By understanding what is locked up in your soil, not just what is soluble right now, you can farm in partnership with your soil biome instead of chasing fertiliser results.
