On Wednesday, 180 of our team members from across the country came together for our team day with the theme ‘Enabling Innovation and Inclusion’.

Together we explored:
- The work we’re doing to remove barriers for Māori to access housing modifications.
- (Human +AI) How AI could free up our team from repetitive, time-consuming tasks.
- The importance of accessible design and digital accessibility in practice.

We're looking forward to seeing the ideas and innovations the team threw around take flight over 2026. What other innovations or inclusions do you think we should focus on in these spaces? Comment below!

Last week at the Oceania Seating Symposium (OSS), Rachel Brown (one of our Clinical Services Advisors and a registered occupational therapist) shared insights from her postgraduate research on the impacts of power wheelchairs on health and participation for people with motor neurone disease (MND).

We’re incredibly proud of Rachel and the contribution this mahi makes to evidence-informed practice - supporting people to maximise independence and participation in everyday life.

Ngā mihi to the OSS organisers and everyone who attended her session!

Today is Purple Tuesday—a global movement calling on organisations to and make inclusion part of everyday practice. Enable NZ is proud to join thousands of organisations worldwide, pledging real improvements for disabled people and their families.

Our commitment to accessibility includes our new Experience Advisory Group: advisors with lived experience of disability. We’re committing to make our work with them a living, responsive process. We will listen to their voices, consider every piece of feedback, and act where we can to improve. If we can’t make a change, we’ll explain why—because openness and accountability matter.

Our national repair, refurbishment and reissue programme saved ACC more than $9.4 million in 2024/25.

Refurbishing used equipment can save 70% of the cost when compared to buying new equipment. The expert teams at our Refurbishment Centres (in Hamilton, Palmerston North, and Christchurch) clean, repair, and reissue thousands of pieces of equipment each year.

We're proud of our teams helping provide the supportive, efficient rehabilitation New Zealanders deserve.

Our Contact Centre team will be on holiday for Labour Day on Monday 27 October. Any calls will go through to our after-hours support line.

Please note this may create a bit of a delay in us booking in collections and repairs or servicing. If you need to find an equipment technician in your area, please check out https://www.enable.co.nz/tools-resources/find-professional. Otherwise, we look forward to chatting soon.

We’re excited to share that the new Equipment Maintenance App (for the ACC MRES service) has officially launched - online, on the Google Play Store, and on the Apple App Store.

This app is built for our equipment repairers (subcontractors) across Aotearoa. It allows them to look up equipment details directly using a claim or asset number. This means faster responses, clearer information, and easier repairs for customers.

Subcontractors can learn more and register for the app on our website at enable.co.nz/online-systems/tutorials-guides/maintenance-guides.
